Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted sliced almonds, diced half banana; hot water. Worked from home. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Updated links on pharmd home to USNWR and NIH funding. Small edits to a news story: Benet. Took screenshots of three campaigns in Campaign Monitor for Lawrence to review. Pcard paperwork. Siteimprove feature request followup: resizeable textarea in help form. Orgchart work: BTS for budget meeting. Testing and sending email address setup in Constant Contact. SCM compliance followup. Lunch at home by myself: a tiny portion of leftover enchiladas, tomato basil soup, water. Learned via Google searches that Constant Contact Lead Gen and CRM support was formerly called SharpSpring. Attempted to reach Constant Contact Lead Gen and CRM support, but the hours published on their website seem to have been erroneous compared with what the recorded greeting said. They were closed. I'll need to try them again tomorrow. Afternoon snack: mini peanut butter crackers, water. More orgchart work. Walked and rode Muni to dinner at Uno Dos Taco where it was a bit too crowded for us, so we walked through the inaugural Downtown First Thursdays (DFT) instead to The Bird. Fried chicken sandwich and curly fries for Patrick, half chicken on biscuit sandwich with tater tots for me. Ketchup and garlic mayo on the side. Sodas to drink: root beer for Patrick, Dr. Pepper for me. Afterwards we visited SFMOMA using member passes from Tai and Drew. We met Tai's coworker Farbod and partner Kimia. We made our way up to Floor 4 to the Gina and Stuart Peterson White Box member lounge, which had great 90s rave music and fascinating live visuals. Patrick and I had one flavored margarita each. We saw the Art of Noise exhibit then grew tired and returned home via Muni.

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted sliced almonds, diced half banana; hot water. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Orgchart work: QBI. Tried calling Constant Contact Lead Gen and CRM support and an automated voice said no one was available. I gave up trying to reach them for now—too hard. Met with Suzan to edit honors and awards pages and to publish a news story: KMG and AAA&S. Letterhead work: Liusheng H. Generated a QR code for Angie G for spring research seminar. I recently realized that InDesign has a way to do this from the Object menu—nice. Built a CP-specific PowerPoint template for Amelia D. Resolved a problem with our presentation templates page and data store. Lunch with Bernard at You See Sushi: bento #1 for Bernard, bento #2 for me. Letterhead work. Walked and rode Muni home. Dinner at home with Patrick: spaghetti with toasted pine nuts, basil, and parmesan; water. We watched various YouTube videos then John Mulaney Presents Everybody's in L.A. episode 1 (Coyotes) of 6 live on Netflix. It was weird, sometimes funny, sometimes dull, and seemingly patched together yet also exquisitely planned. I didn't know who Ray J or St. Vincent were, and I didn't recognize many of the comedians. Still, it was mostly entertaining with an offbeat charm. The sound was terrible. In the studio there was an annoying echo. And during parts of it the sound would repeatedly cut out for a second or two.

Sun May 5, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted sliced almonds, diced mango; hot water. Recharge work all morning: edited new blog posts. Backups for home devices and websites. Patrick took a midmorning nap, and I joined for a few minutes. Unloaded laundry that Patrick had placed in the dryer earlier. Spent a few minutes with support at my web hosting provider to report 2FA problems. Lunch at home with Patrick: Patrick made a grilled cheese sandwich. I had leftover tomato soup and a half quesadilla with green onions, salsa, and sour cream. In the early afternoon we rode Muni and walked to Alamo Drafthouse New Mission to see The Fall Guy (2024). Popcorn no butter, Patrick had a root beer, I had a lemonade. Afterwards we visited Buddy aka Buddy The Bar (3115 22nd Street): a glass of orange wine (caleb leisure, "i got it bad") for Patrick, a glass of rosé (buddy + augur, "buddy cutty") for me. We shared: shrimp cocktail, golden beets, bacon and egg sando. 20% dine-in service charge was automatically included, so we left no additional tip. $109.50. Our receipt said our server's name was Bar B. We sat at table 14, which was a two-top in the middle of the main row. Walked and rode Muni home. To bed almost immediately.

Mon May 6, 2024

Half banana. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Breakfast at Moffitt Cafe: chicken-apple sausage, scrambled eggs, potato triangles, small decaf coffee with half and half: about $8. Benet Event meeting with Sahru, Lawrence, Karen, and Suzan. Answered a question about full faculty staff meetings and Zoom for Karen. More identity theft work. Experimented a bit with Mosaico. Late lunch from Cafe Bellini: half turkey cranberry on sourdough. Water from my water bottle. Ate at desk watching YouTube. Troubleshot Docker error bind address already in use. After two hours, I found the solution at comment 1746653802 for issue 7008 for Docker on Github: https://github.com/docker/for-mac/issues/7008#issuecomment-1746653802. Thanks, bsousaa! Styling work in Drupal: resolve small issues with link icon after on pharmd home and pharmd admissions. Dinner at home with Patrick: crab cakes with butter lettuce salad, water. We watched the remainder of War for the Planet of the Apes on Hulu then John Mulaney Presents Everybody's in L.A. episode 2 (Palm Trees) of 6 live on Netflix. I ate two pieces of almond cherry dark chocolate. We both agreed that this episode was funnier than the first one. Earlier today Patrick prepared a homemade ice cream that included lavender, white chocolate, blueberries, and creme de violette which he calls Blueberry-White Chocolate-Lavender, and we presumed this was an original recipe. He churned it in the ice cream maker then froze it. I washed dishes. Patrick went to bed. Recharge work: edited new blog posts. Late snack: one navel orange.

Wed May 8, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted sliced almonds, diced half banana; hot water. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Benet event work for Sahru all day: program. Web edit for Joel. Team meeting with Suzan and Lawrence: prepared interview questions. Lunch with Suzan: she brought a salad from home. I had a footlong club sandwich from Subway and water from my water bottle. It was surprisingly warm and sunny enough to eat comfortably in Saunders Court despite breeziness observable on Parnassus Avenue. Troubleshot Sahru's problems printing at 100% to a Xerox device at Mission Bay. We decided that since the problem does not occur for me at Parnassus I will print and fold them. Walked and rode Muni to Kerry and Mom Ryan's to meet Patrick for dinner at Aquitaine (216 Church Street): glass of happy hour white for Patrick, glass of happy hour rose for me. We shared: deviled eggs, crab-stuffed mushrooms, pomme frites, basque popcorn, comte charcuterie with hazelnuts, bread, and honeyed apple slices. $75 after a $12 tip. Afterwards we enjoyed cocktails at Detour: sucker punch (mezcal, lime, bitters, cucumber, tajin) for Patrick, frozen pina colada (house rum blend, coconut, pineapple, lime) with dark rum float for me. Walked and rode Muni home. A short while after the livestream of it ended, we watched two-thirds of John Mulaney Presents Everybody's in L.A. episode 4 (Paranormal) of 6 on Netflix. Patrick went to bed, and I joined not long afterwards.

Fri May 10, 2024

Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Breakfast at Moffitt Cafe: scrambled eggs, pork sausage, potatoes, small decaf coffee with half and half. Edited a news story for Suzan. Submitted a leave request for vacation. Calendar management. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Continued folding cardstock printed programs for the forthcoming Benet Event. Listserv work: requested a new listserv for selected staff after learning that our dynamic listservs for PharmD students are finally ready after over two months of waiting, deleted an unused listserv for Julia S, compared results of dynamic list setup and found some discrepancies but must wait until after commencement to discuss with Julia S. Samantha V arrived trying to find room 1112, and Nathan and I walked her to it. Lunch from Panda Express: bowl with fried rice and mushroom chicken. Water from my water bottle. I ate in the shade in Saunders Court. (I forgot to bring a hat today.) Organized files in OneDrive. Afternoon snack: fortune cookie. My fortune: Many seek you out for insightful advice. Encountered OneDrive sync issues. There weren't too many of them, so I manually resolved them. Walked and rode Muni to dinner at Tacolicious with Patrick: four tacos, kale salad, two drinks. We were seated in their outdoor parklet, which was frustrating because the sun was directly in my eyes due to the way the tables were laid out and perhaps the time of year. Last time we sat at the bar and enjoyed ourselves much more. When the check came, it was via a machine, and there appeared to be no way for me to review the receipt to confirm it was correct, but it seemed to be correct, so I didn't ask to see a full receipt and simply paid. Afterwards we had drinks at The Beehive. Then we attended Kitchen Table, featuring Arati Warrier, T.S. Leonard, and Octavio Peña and with other readings by D'Mani Thomas, Danielle Trupi, and Dianne de Guzman. Patrick purchased cookies from Cookieman Stan—delicious. Rode Lyft home.

Sat May 11, 2024

Insomnia last night. Chatted with Bernard before returning to bed. In the morning: Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted sliced almonds, diced half banana; hot water and squeeze of half lemon. Patrick returned home from martial arts practice and grocery shopping with Sam. I cleaned the bathroom. Midmorning Patrick and I watched John Mulaney Presents Everybody's in L.A. episode 6 (The Future of L.A.) of 6 live on Netflix. While watching Patrick ate an ube cookie from which I took one bite, and I ate a Chobani black cherry greek yogurt. Patrick took a nap. I prepared for myself steamed pork dumplings and shrimp with chive dumplings from frozen from Asian American Food Company. Today OneDrive presented more sync issues. There are 413 of them, and there seems to be no way to resolve all of them the same method without clicking each one manually. What a daymare. The error is "We couldn't merge the changes in an Office file." To work around this problem, in Microsoft Word settings under Save I unchecked Turn On Autosave By Default then restarted my MacBook Pro then let OneDrive continue synching. Recharge web work: began work for posting three blog posts. Afternoon snack: two Gold Nugget oranges. They are tasty, but the peel crumbles easily when peeling, making the peeling experience a bit unpleasant, so they aren't my favorite kind of orange. Shower. Patrick and I rode Lyft to dinner at Japantown. We dined at Udon Mugizo. Katsu donburi with mini udon for Patrick, beef donburi with mini udon for me. Hot tea for both. Afterwards we walked around Japantown to kill about 40 minutes then saw Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes at Kabuki with popcorn and cocktails (margarita for Patrick, raspberry gin fizz for me). We rode Lyft home. Patrick went to bed. I continued finishing posting three blog posts for Recharge for Drew.

Sun May 12, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted sliced almonds, diced half banana; hot water. Helped Patrick prepare cooking a Mother's Day lunch. Kerry and Mom Ryan came over. We ate jambalaya and French bread. Water or sparkling water to drink. Dessert: Patrick's homemade Blueberry-White Chocolate-Lavender ice cream. I also had coffee with milk. Kerry had a beer. Mom had a ginger ale. They departed. Patrick and I cleaned and rested. We watched Loot s2:e7 on Apple TV+ then Star Trek: Discovery s5:e7 on Paramount+ then Maya Rudolph SNL clips on YouTube. Patrick went to bed. Money management tasks. Late snack: two medium oranges.

Mon May 13, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted sliced almonds, blueberries; hot water. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Posted a news story for Suzan. Meeting with Suzan, Lawrence, and a guest. Answered a listserv question for Candi, Mandy, and the residencies team. Lunch in the empty office with Suzan: she brought something from home. I brought leftover jambalaya. Meeting with Suzan, Lawrence, and a guest. Helped Suzan manage commencement script process. Walked and rode Muni home. Along the way I began listening to an episode of Dan Harris' Ten Percent Happier with guest John Mulaney. It took place in 2016 when John was not well known for very serious drug abuse and when he was very happy living with and being married to Anna Marie Tendler. It's strange to listen to this now. Dinner at home with Patrick: mushroom quesadillas with refried beans, water. Edited an email for Recharge for Drew. We watched Katt Williams: Woke Foke on Netflix and then stopped after about 4 minutes. We watched Dave Attell: Hot Cross Buns on Netflix. Patrick went to bed. Late snack: three-seed sourdough toast with creamy peanut butter, water. Finished listening to Dan Harris' Ten Percent Happier with guest John Mulaney. Later snack: peanut butter crackers, hot milk with a few drops of Suchiate Mexican vanilla. My OneDrive problems continue. Today I have 616 sync issues that I can't find a way to easily or quickly resolve. I do not want to reset OneDrive since I don't know what that will do to the files I recently moved. Do they disappear? I can't back up what I have and then reset because I did so much moving of files I wouldn't be able to remember what was supposed to have gone where.

Tue May 14, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted sliced almonds, blueberries; hot water. Worked from home. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Continued troubleshooting OneDrive encountering hundreds of sync issues after simply moving large quantities of files from my private OneDrive folder to my shared OneDrive folder. I decided that the only way to resolve this is to reset OneDrive even though it's something I'd rather not do because it's a lot of trouble and time. Began preparing to reset OneDrive. Removed cloud storage folders from the exclusion list of Time Machine because I don't trust OneDrive. Confirmed that CrashPlan had been backing up cloud storage folders. Waited for Time Machine to finish backing up. Routine audit: removed one account (ICS) that had access to the school's YouTube account. Adjusted livestream settings for comments and live chat for the forthcoming commencement ceremony. Began work to remove and replace a photo that someone did not like of themselves from our website, our digital asset library, and the UCSF digital asset library. Work to remove old work phone number from various systems including UC Path and UC Learning Center. Lunch at home: leftover jambalaya, water. Cut my hair, showered. Created a new Automator workflow: Change dashes and underscores to spaces. It didn't work, and I struggled with making it work. I discovered that all my other workflows I created in the past weren't showing up. I'm not exactly sure how I resolved it, but I did. I think from the folder containing my workflows archive I double-clicked then installed them which moved them to ~/Library/Services. Somehow they work now even though they were in ~/Library/Services before. Midafternoon snack: yellow tortilla strips, water. Continued resolving OneDrive problems. Trip planning with Patrick. Dinner at home with Patrick: steamed dumplings and soy garlic dipping sauce, water. Afterwards we watched Loot s2:e8 on Apple TV+. Late snack: large pretzel from frozen with salt. Played two rounds of Pinball Masters Grimm's Tales on my iPad Air. Today while attempting to sync a Teams files folder with my desktop using OneDrive, I simultaneously received two messages. One said, "Sorry, we can't sync your [name-of-folder] folder right now. Please try again." The other said, "We're syncing your files."

Wed May 15, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced almonds, blueberries, diced half banana; hot water. Followup with Russell Y and Marc V about photos in their photo library. Gathered data for Lawrence about our use of Montala ResourceSpace. Answered a question for Julia S about a listserv and one subscriber. Chatted briefly with (Terry/Terri?), Justin, and ? about Lawrence approving their use of some of the rooms in S126 on a temporary basis. Met with the Academic Affairs team (Robin C, Phillip B, Angelie K) to discuss websites and content migration. Printed the commencement script and prepared the binder to hold it, making a new cover for it as well. Chatted briefly with Nathan. Mostly finished resolving my OneDrive issue that I first encountered several days ago. Visited the OSACA because Lucia has returned for a few weeks to help the office. Bought a steak fajitas burrito from Carmelina's. Encountered Bernard in the hallway and we chatted there and at my desk while I ate. Water from my water bottle. CPCS Candy vs. Medicine meeting with Austen T, Don E, and Judy D. Workflow and tools meeting with Suzan: we covered a lot: why non-breaking space characters appear at the ends of lines upon paste into Drupal (answer: don't copy from Word Web), why heading styles don't come through upon paste into Drupal (answer: don't copy from Word Web), why some quote marks appear as straight instead of curly even though Word's settings are set correctly (probably paste from a source that has straight quotes), how to easily identify straight quotes (increase font size a lot then use Find and Find Next commands), we swapped her Windows keyboard for a Windows and Mac keyboard, and we set up printing for her to the Xerox 7855 copier. Chatted with Karen about hole punchers and printing and more. More OneDrive cleanup and file organization. Submitted a request to create a resource email account for Robin C and Phillip B. Changed the Faculty Academic Affairs people listing from dynamic to static. Copying folders from OneDrive to Shared OneDrive and found that after copying the folders were empty showing zero bytes (!). What a mess. Walked and rode Muni to meet Patrick for dinner. We met at the Castro Farmers Market then walked to dinner at Pasta Panino: we shared arancini, focaccia, and tap water. Glass of rocca di montemassi and penne alla norcina for Patrick. Butternut squash ravioli with vegetables for me. Service by Daniel D was excellent. About $69 after tax and before tip. Afterwards we had drinks at Lobby Bar at Hotel Castro (4230 18th Street): The Fizz for Patrick, Flippin the Bird for me. We bought four bottles of wine from Beth at Bottle Bacchanal (4126 18th Street) then walked and rode Muni home.

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted and sliced almonds, blueberries, diced half banana; hot water. Worked from home. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Continued troubleshooting OneDrive encountering hundreds of sync issues after simply moving large quantities of files from my private OneDrive folder to my shared OneDrive folder. Yesterday after copying folders from my private OneDrive folder to the shared OneDrive folder then seeing them disappear from my private OneDrive folder then appear in the shared OneDrive folder with zero bytes indicating that nothing copied over, I began restoring files and folders from the OneDrive/Sharepoint recycle bin. However, the OneDrive/Sharepoint recycle bin lists only 102 items at first then if you scroll to the end it adds 100 more items. There is no way to easily list all the items at once. There is no way to restore all items in the recycle bin at once. I probably moved hundreds of thousands of files, so I'm thinking I will need to find a different way to recover the files. Lunch: I prepared for myself a medium salad with ranch dressing, baby little gems, diced bacon, diced monterey jack cheese, toasted and sliced almonds, diced celery, diced grape tomatoes, sliced mushrooms. Water to drink. Troubleshot Apple Sidecar failing to work as expected. This time the iPad failed to appear in the list of screens available for mirroring. Restarting the Mac fixed it. Seemingly successfully manually restored thousands of files and folders from the OneDrive recycle bin; it took many hours. Rode Lyft with Patrick to Stonestown Galleria for shopping and dinner. We shopped for clothes for me at several stores and nothing fit or was to my liking exactly. Afterwards we dined at Shake Shack: double hamburger and chocolate shake for Patrick, bacon cheeseburger and large iced tea for me. We shared one order of fries. I thought the food was pretty good. Afterwards we rode Lyft home. We watched Star Trek: Discovery s5:e8 on Paramount+. To bed early.

Fri May 17, 2024

Patrick woke me at 5:00 a.m. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted and sliced almonds, golden raisins, diced half banana; hot water. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Mission Bay: 1 hour 15 minutes. Worked all day at a School of Pharmacy event: In Tribute to Excellence: The Pioneering Contributions of Les Benet: A Symposium in Honor of Leslie Z. Benet, PhD. I arrived at 8 a.m. Les is one of our most accomplished scientists, and the symposium was a mix of scientific talks and fond memories of people in his life giving thanks and tribute. It was Les's 87th birthday, too. Brian C from ETS worked cameras and in-room audio-video. I advanced slides when needed. One time I pressed the button for the next slide and the result was seemingly as though the button was held down—far too many slides advanced. After that we switched to a backup method that wasn't made by Logitech. Boxed lunch: roast beef sandwich with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and mustard; orzo salad with sundried tomatoes; chocolate chip cookie, flavored sparkling water. I ate outside with Suzan, who took the jalapeno potato chips I had no choice in receiving. In the afternoon the building's fire alarm sounded, and within a few minutes the entire room evacuated the building for about 20 minutes or so before we were permitted to return. Later the fire alarm sounded again briefly, but everyone seemed to ignore it since we were near the end of the program, and no one required us to evacuate. Frances performed an operetta that she wrote, and it was funny, charming, and impressive. Small bites at the reception: I had meatballs, tiny summer rolls with spicy dipping sauce, cheddar cheese and sliced baguette, flavored sparkling water—all delicious. After the event ended at 6:30 p.m. we spent over an hour cleaning: disassembling balloon creations, tables, and photo backdrops; storing tables and chairs; collecting trash; saving leftover food; and helping guests find lost items. During the event some members of the UCSF community stole food, and there was seemingly no good way to stop them. Walked and rode Muni home: 1 hour 20 minutes. Late meal: Amy's enchilada from frozen. (The box says enchilada but there were dos enchiladas.) Side of tortilla strips. Water. To bed.

Sat May 18, 2024

Slept in a bit. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted and sliced almonds, golden raisins, diced mango; hot water. Cleaned in the bathroom. Weeded and removed dead leaves from the back yard. Snack: one Goodpop fudge n vanilla square. Changed air purifier prefilters.
