Ran in place while watching part of Bologna 🇮🇹 Walking Tour - 4K60fps with Captions - Prowalk Tours Italy on YouTube. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted sliced almonds, diced half banana; hot water. Continued reading Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin. Housecleaning: vacuumed, washed dishes from dinner last night, changed air filter purifier prefilters, cleaned the bathroom, performed a butcher block wood butter treatment, weeded in the back yard, washed all three of the trash bins. Ate a popsicle and drank some water. Napped. Walked and rode Muni to Restaurant Week dinner at Starbelly. Prix fixe menu, $45/person, your choice of three appetizers, three mains, and two desserts. Cocktails: Patrick had smoke show (mezcal, anejo tequila, amaro, house mole bitters), I had passionflower (blanco tequila, passionfruit, citrus, hibiscus). Patrick had house-made dungeness crab and buratta dumplings with brown butter, garlic, and aleppo chile garan; sumac-seared Hawaiian tombo tuna with white butter bean puree, grilled little gems, and green olive salsa; and warm toffee cake with mascarpone and medjool dates. I had butter lettuce salad with crème fraiche herb dressing, caracara oranges, radishes, and dill; house smoked duroc pork chop with sweet potato puree, grilled green beans, and apple chutney; and salted caramel pot de crème with cornmeal-rosemary cookies. The appetizer neither of us got was house made chicken liver pâté with buttered bread, sweet onion marmalade, and grain mustard. The entree neither of us got was grilled bavette steak with crispy plantains, nopales, and heirloom tomato salad with spicy peanut salsa matcha. All food and drink were delicious. However, Patrick's entree arrived first, and we waited perhaps 10 or 15 minutes before mine arrived, and only after we caught our server's attention and asked why it was taking so long. Also, the menu said asparagus but what I received was green beans, and it seemed strange that they would make that substitution without telling you. Despite these issues we enjoyed our meal, and I tipped Gam G 20% because it was unclear whether the problem lay with the kitchen or the wait staff. Afterwards we visited Badlands because Patrick had not yet been since their post-COVID reopening. There was a very light crowd when we arrived. We got happy hour mezcal margaritas—a pair for $14 after tip, and soon afterwards the bar started getting full. We departed not long afterwards with intentions to return another day. We walked and rode Muni to West Portal Station. We visited the memorial outside the library for the family of four killed on March 16—there so many photos, candles, flowers, and small gifts. There was a longish wait for either of the busses we needed, and the arrival time kept changing to later and later times, so we began walking. While walking we saw from a distance one of the busses we were waiting for pass; there was no way we could catch it. So we walked the rest of the way home. To bed.

Patrick had an espresso at the end. A 20% service charge and 5% SF surcharge was automatically added to our check. Dessert for Patrick: pieces of chocolate. We watched various YouTube videos including Before the Dawn Planet of the Apes, three episodes. We watched a little more than half of Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2014) on Hulu. Patrick went to bed. I continued watching various YouTube videos. I realize at 10:30 p.m. that I was mischarged at Underdogs Tres. I'm pretty sure that the menu said the side veggies was $2.95, but my receipt said $4.95 and I didn't catch it at the time of payment. A similar discrepancy happened with our recent visit to Fable, and now I'm wondering if it's becoming more common and I'm just not paying attention.

Finalized the commencement program and delivered files to Leslie CS and Julia S. Followup with Maddie from ResourceSpace and with Siva from BrowserStack. Weeded unused accounts in The Archive. Walked and rode Muni to Zuni Cafe where we met Paolo and Lucie for dinner. We shared: shoestring fries, polenta, white asparagus, and roast chicken for two. Drinks included conejo malo, elderflower cocktail, San Francisco cocktail, sparkling water, and club soda. For dessert, we shared blood orange upside-down cake and gateau victoire. All food and drink were delicious. My favorite was the chicken. 20% fair wage gratuity was included; we left no additional tip. Our receipt had printed at the bottom "IMMIGRANTS MAKE AMERICA GREAT" which I very much agree with, but there's no need to shout, even in a loud restaurant, and we know your receipt printer can handle lowercase since lowercase appears elsewhere on it. Also, if a "fair wage gratuity" is automatically included, then it's not a gratuity. Merriam-Webster defines gratuity as "something given voluntarily or beyond obligation usually for some service." So let's stop saying "fair wage gratuity." Service by Joshua and all was excellent. We sat at table 33/1, which is at the top of the stairs facing Market Street. We talked about doom loop, the housing crisis, Kitchen Table and its future with Dianne, poetry, stand-up comedy (including John Mulaney, Sam Morril, Hannah Gadsby, and Caleb Hearon), restaurants including Breadbelly, Dalida, and Tadich Grill, restauranteurs including Michael Mina, coffee including Saint Frank Coffee and Grand Coffee and Le Llave, caffeine metabolization, sleep schedules, The Taste of Things (2023), Monkey Man (2024), San Francisco, New Orleans, Washington state, Martha's Vineyard, Montreal, India, Ireland, Indonesia, introversion vs. extroversion, and much, much more. Paolo and Lucie gave us a ride home. Patrick went to bed. Cutting board wood butter treatment.

Ran in place while watching Rio de Janeiro Walking Tour - 4K60fps with Captions - Prowalk Tours Brazil and other YouTube videos. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted sliced almonds, diced half banana; hot water. More Recharge web work. Decided today that I will probably abandon the unfinished website I have in development for Recharge because Drupal is more difficult to maintain for this project than other platforms. So many things broke since I last looked at it. The menus disappeared, some pages give incomprehensible errors. Mended small holes in my black Patagonia jacket with needle and thread. Cleaned the bathroom. Rode Lyft to Fort Mason Festival Pavilion where we met Tai and Drew for the San Francisco Art Fair. Tai received enough tickets from his work for all of us. At the start Patrick and I shared a delicious char siu croissant and coffee with half and half from Grand Bakery Oakland purchased inside the event. We all saw lots of art. Afterwards we attempted to eat at nearby Radhaus but it seemed too crowded. They had driven to the event, so we decided to drive to Clement Street and eat there instead. We ended up at Mamahuhu where Drew had a rice plate and the rest of us each ate fried chicken sandwich combos—combo means you also get hot and sour soup. Tai and Patrick both got Honey Hawthorn; I got Super Savory. There was a long, stress-inducing wait for a table for four, but eventually we got one. Afterwards we parted. Patrick and I rode Lyft to the Castro and walked around a bit before stopping for beverages at Thorough Bread and Pastry: decaf mocha for Patrick, chai with steamed milk for me. We then visited with Mom Ryan, with Kerry stopping in briefly to drop off groceries before heading out to play darts. I napped while there. Afterwards Patrick and I dined at Rustic (215 Church Street): a glass of verdicchio for him, a glass of pinot noir for me. We shared a margherita pizza add prosciutto and arugula. No dessert. $62.51 after $4.76 tax and $2.75 SF mandate but before tip. Service by Jonny P was very good. We sat at table 22 which was near the back right corner. Walked and rode Muni home. We watched 16 minutes of Fern Brady: Autistic Bikini Queen on Netflix before stopping. We watched a little more than half of Jimmy Carr: Natural Born Killer on Netflix. Patrick went to bed, and I joined a while later.

Patrick went to bed. Online chat with Lani and Dex.
