Last night while having insomnia I listened to a reading of Moby Dick by Pete Cross on Hoopla, picking it up again after a long time. Ran in place while watching part of Bologna 🇮🇹 Walking Tour - 4K60fps with Captions - Prowalk Tours Italy on YouTube. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted sliced almonds, blueberries; hot water. Continued reading Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Missed the bus by one minute, so waited 20 minutes for the next bus. Asana task followup. Team meeting with Lawrence and Suzan. Lunch with Suzan. Suzan brought a large salad from home to which she added small items from the Moffitt Cafe salad bar. I had Panda Express: bowl with chow mein with mushroom chicken. While headed to Panda Express, I encountered James F, and we chatted briefly. Suzan and I sat in the sun in front of the library next to Beniamino Bufano's Mother Bear and Cubs sculpture. My fortune: It is time to let your quiet soul sing. Calendar management. Orgchart work. Lawrence, Suzan, Karen, and I met in HSW302 for a Zoom and Town Hall prep. Staffbase email consultation with Lisa D and Michael D. Rode Muni with Patrick to California Street and Presidio Avenue. We had some time to kill, so we visited the Katz Snyder art gallery on the second floor of the Jewish Community Center: Nourish Your Roots, Co-curated with ArtSpan with the fine works of artists Laura Abrams, Salma Arastu, Liz Bloomfield, Dale Eastman, Ray Gonzalez, Saira Grube, Liz Lauter, Suki Liebow, Larraine Seiden, Christine So, Mimi Sweeney, Sydney van Delft, Melissa Willett, and Lorraine Woodruff-Long. Next Patrick and I enjoyed a splurge dinner at Sorrel (3228 Sacramento Street). Neither of us had dined here before. We came to taste their eight-course spring tasting menu at $185 per person. We were seated at a four-top table. 1. maitake, green garlic, dashi; 2. buñuelo, fresh cheese, black garlic; 3. white asparugus, pine nut milk, smoked roe; 4. parisian gnocchi, guanciale, ramp; 5. potato, egg yolk, dill; 6. black barley, smoked duck, nettle; 7. striped bass, fava bean, spring onion or umpqua valley lamb, urfa chili, artichoke; 8. pandan, tapioca, matcha. For course 7 we both chose the bass. There were three add-on options: 1. oyster, cucumber, apple, shiso for $4.50 each; 2. kaluga caviar, sunchoke cheesecake, allium for $38; 3. BBQ duck legs, sesame, five spice for $43. We added the caviar cheesecake. We both chose to include the wine pairing at $95 per person. There were four unnamed, unexpected courses: 1. bread and four kinds of cheeses, 2. sorbet, 3. birthday cake with candle, and 4. small chocolates. Course total = 13. Patrick had an espresso at the end. A 20% service charge and 5% SF surcharge was automatically added to our check. Service by Jonathan K and all was excellent; probably the best service we've experienced in San Francisco. Rode Lyft home. To bed almost immediately.
