Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, chopped and roasted almonds, diced half banana; hot water. House chores: Invisalign cleaning, housecleaning. Midmorning snack: TJ's danish with custard filling. More housecleaning, including behind the living room couch and side table. Lunch at home: I prepared for myself leftovers melange: spaghetti, yellow turkey curry, tomato and other vegetables; hot water. For dinner, Patrick and I rode Uber to After Hours Cafe which is not open after hours but it took over the space of After Hours Bar after the bar permanently closed. Patrick had tonkatsu rice bowl and milk tea. I had salmon rice bowl and Deep Blue Sea beverage with lychee jelly. All food and drink were delicious. The drink was too sweet for me; I could drink only about a third of it. Afterwards we walked to White Cap and enjoyed two rounds of drinks. Rode Lyft home. We watched part of Godzilla Minus One on Netflix. Patrick went to bed.

Mon Jun 3, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and roasted almonds, diced half banana; hot water. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Suzan and I reported two people we observed in the MSB lobby to security; they seemed incapacitated, perhaps due to drug overdose. A policeman arrived instantly to follow up with them, and we paid the matter no further attention. Continued work to remove and replace a photo that someone did not like of themselves from our website. Caught up with Suzan after her return from a week in Puerto Vallarta and last night's Purple Disco Machine on Treasure Island. Began the process to renew our Montala contract via purchase order. Lunch with Suzan and Bernard in the spare office. Suzan had filipino rice porridge from Cafe Bellini, Bernard had a package of nuts as pre-lunch, I had a veggie pizza slice from Cafe Bellini. Performed an account migration in Asana at their request. Submitted a request to reimage Suzan's old laptop. Handled a misdirected request for digital letterhead. Bernard returned again to deliver misdelivered mail then stayed a while to visit. Created alternate versions of KMG's headshot. Walked and rode Muni home. Dinner at home with Patrick: Martha Stewart's rotisserie chicken with yogurt sauce, herb relish, hummus and warm pita; sparkling water for Patrick, hot water for me. Accidentally cut my thumb knuckle on a knife sticking out of the dish rack while wiping the counter. It's just a light cut but it being on the knuckle means it keeps opening when the thumb bends. Afterwards we drank creme de violette margaritas. We watched various YouTube videos; then one song in Flamenco, Flamenco; then more YouTube videos.

Tue Jun 4, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and roasted almonds, diced half banana; hot water. Worked from home. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Continued work to remove and replace a photo that someone did not like of themselves from our website. Followup with Erica D about a dynamic listserv request. Followup with Zach S, Micquel L, and Sebastien A about Otter spam and other account transition followup. Troubleshot problems with OneDrive opening an Excel spreadsheet in read only mode then if I close it and reopen it in a different way then it is writeable. Followup with Christina O about Siteimprove admin config. Followup with Tram C about her orgchart and office name change web page updates. Minor web edit for Julia S for white coat ceremony and YouTube livestream thumbnail. Erica D let me know that the dynamic listserv request is now waiting on Andy B. Followup with Andy B about a dynamic listserv request. Submitted an email address change for Julia S: OSACA to OSA. Handled a request from a School of Medicine student about archiving email; they had found our web page about it and needed help. Walked and rode Muni to dinner at Cadillac Grill. We shared nachos with jalas on the side and an order of 5 tacos: one carnitas, two shrimp, and two chicken. Patrick ate three tacos; I ate two. Mexican Coke for Patrick, San Pellegrino water for me. Churros with caramel dipping sauce for dessert. Food was good. Service was odd—sometimes neglectful and other times friendly and attentive and other times socially awkward. Afterwards at the Main Library at 100 Larkin Street we attended San Francisco on the Silver Screen, the first of four film talks in a series called Film: Cinematic San Francisco by Jim Van Buskirk, a retired SFPL librarian, major movie buff, and public speaker, is the co-author of Celluloid San Francisco: The Film Lover’s Guide to Bay Area Movie Locations as well as other books, articles, blogs and radio broadcasts on San Francisco and film history. He talked for an hour and took questions from the audience for half an hour. We enjoyed the talk and the clips of old films. Among many things, I learned that motion pictures were invented in Palo Alto, the first public motion picture exhibition took place in San Francisco, the first complete movie studio on the Pacific coast was in San Francisco, and the all-electric television was invented in San Francisco. Walked and rode Muni home, stopping at the West Portal Branch Library to pick up a DVD and at Easy Breezy for frozen yogurt since we had some time to kill before the bus we wanted arrived. We watched The Simpsons s32:e20 on Hulu. Patrick went to bed. Lately I have been doing simple physical therapy to resolve a small pain in my back, and as that pain has eased I have also been slowly returning to weight training using free weights at home.

Wed Jun 5, 2024

Pre-breakfast: half banana. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Breakfast at Cafe Bellini: breakfast combo plate, water from my water bottle. Impromptu workflow and tools meeting with Suzan. Team meeting with Suzan and Lawrence. Lunch in Saunders Court with Suzan. She brought a salad from home. I got a mushroom quesadilla and chips from Carmelina's. Styling changes in Drupal for Sharon: swap colors for strat plan categories: patient care and DEI, patient care changes from blue to orange, DEI changes from orange to blue. Bernard and I rode the UCSF shuttle from Parnassus to Mission Bay. Patrick met us at Spark Social. We three attended a UCSF LGBTQIA+ pride month celebration. We signed in and each received $20 in tickets. I encountered Edgar, and we chatted briefly. Bernard, Patrick, and I bought drinks nearby. Somehow $20 in tickets bought Patrick an $11 white wine and me a $5 watermelon lemonade after an automatic 15% tip and taxes and other unknown fees. Bernard wisely got a $4 white wine. We met Andrés, Lara, and Nora. Nora said she was in one of our grad programs, and I said, "I built your website!" She said she had a complaint, which I was interested in hearing, and I gave her my contact info so she could send me details later. Bernard, Patrick, and I chatted a while. Bernard decided to leave to meet Drew elsewhere. Patrick and I walked the circle to see what food trucks interested us, but we decided instead to ride the 22 bus to the Castro and eat there. Dinner at Il Casaro (235 Church Street): insalata caesar, chapel di basilico cocktail for Patrick, il casaro pizza (mozzarella, cremini, prosciutto crudo, parmesan). 5% "casaro surcharge" was automatically added to our receipt. $51.45 before $4.44 tax. All food, drink, and service by Jose M were very good. We walked and rode Muni home. We watched The Acolyte s1:e1 on Disney+.

Thu Jun 6, 2024

Began reviewing content for a website build for a forthcoming retreat. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Sent OSA updated digital letterhead. Dinner at home with Patrick: cow cheese burgers with sliced tomato and butter lettuce and a side of potato chips, water. Patrick also had a glass of white wine. Patrick and I played a few holes in Wonderputt Forever on the iPad Air. We watched SNL clips on YouTube then The Bear s1:e4 on Hulu then The Simpsons s32:e21 on Hulu then The Acolyte s1:e2 on Disney+. Patrick went to bed. I washed dishes and cleaned the kitchen. Late snack: one pink lady apple, water.

Fri Jun 7, 2024

Followup with orgchart and web page changes. Improved presentation of the BP committees web page for Nicole in order to resolve misspellings found by Siteimprove. CCI website kickoff meeting with Nour M. Retreat website build with Sahru K. UCSF Town Hall. Walked and rode Muni to meet Patrick at Warakubune (415-252-8383, 307 Church Street) for dinner. Sat Jun 8, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and roasted almonds, diced half banana; two small nectarines; hot water. I needed more sleep since I again woke too early at 4 a.m. so I napped most of the morning. Changed air purifier prefilters. Lunch with Patrick. We attempted to eat at New Taraval Cafe but it was packed and there was a line. Instead we ate at Tennessee Grill. We each had a Tennessee Grill cheeseburger with fries. Patrick had an iced tea. I had a lemonade. About $32 after tax and before a $6 tip. Returned home. Housecleaning: removed mold from the bedroom window track. Cut my hair, showered. Dinner at home with Patrick: red beans and rice, water. Afterwards Patrick remained at home, and I went to a video premiere and live performance of Gypsy Love's All Lit Up. The bar was packed, the event was exicting, the performance and words of thank you perfection. If I recall correctly I met or remet Steven, Jeremy, Desmond, and more. There seemed to be only one or two bartenders and the lines were so long I couldn't get a drink in a reasonable amount of time. Afterwards I walked in the Castro a while.

Sun Jun 9, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and roasted almonds, dried cherries; hot water. Rediscovered my Victorinix Voyager pocket knife which I had stored with earthquake supplies, then fully cleaned it with warm soapy water and an old toothbrush. Brunch at Wooden Spoon: we shared Swedish Society Pancakes (lingonberry jam, powdered sugar, lemon curd) and Soft Scrambled Eggs (dungeness crab, bacon, mascarpone, arugula salad, fruit, potatoes). The eggs arrived with salmon instead of crab, and we chatted briefly with our server about the confusion; they had switched and did not update the menu. Coffee with cream for both. Afterwards I got a large hot hong kong milk tea and read from the Saints and Sinner's 2024 anthology at Spro while Patrick visited his mom. The bathroom at Spro is the most luxurious semipublic restroom in San Francisco due to its washlet that offers a button-activated flush and a button-activated seat lid. Afterwards Patrick met me, and we walked to Dolores Park where we sat on a bench and watched people and dogs. Later at Aquitaine (216 Church Street) we ate basque popcorn. Patrick had glass of white wine; I had rose. The popcorn took a long time to emerge and had way too much butter, but we did not complain. Walked and rode Muni home. Rested. Dinner at home with Patrick: beef and cheese quesadillas, water. We rewatched Twister (1996) on SFPL DVD.

Mon Jun 10, 2024

This morning Patrick discovered another vole that had trapped itself in the concrete area outside our back door. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and roasted almonds, dried cherries; hot water. Today Patrick and Sam left for a trip and will return in a few days. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. All day: lots of followup in Siteimprove with OSACA to OSA name change. Lunch with Suzan at Taboun: we shared a falafel wrap plate with dolma and greek salad. Sparkling waters for both. About $12 each after tax and tip. We had ordered tabouleh instead of greek salad, but we didn't bother to complain about the error. Suzan made a connection with the women behind the counter due to her use of a common language. Afterwards I showed her the sandwich window at Luke's Local, and we stopped at Walgreens for a moment before returning to work. Lots of followup in Siteimprove with ICCT to ICT name change including reposting an orgchart. Edited and posted a news story for Suzan. Walked and rode Muni home. Removed the vole using a rake and left it far in the back yard. It didn't like me even though I was saving it from starvation; it bared its teeth and made a hissing noise. Dinner at home by myself: I prepared a toasted deli chicken breast and cheddar sandwich with lettuce, side of deli chicken noodle soup. Helped Patrick resolve a problem with connecting to wifi in the Airbnb they arrived at. The problem was that prior to Sonoma custom network locations (profiles) were more obvious. Now they are hidden. Dessert: a bowl of cherries, a piece of cherry-almond dark chocolate.

Tue Jun 11, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and roasted almonds, one diced peach; hot water. Worked from home. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. All day: lots of followup in Siteimprove with OSACA to OSA and ICCT to ICT name changes including reposting another orgchart. Followup with Ashish R on a listserv request. Granted web editor permissions to Amelia D and Liusheng H for DRU. Lunch at home: three small beef and black bean tacos which included leftover meat from an earlier meal. Water to drink. Short nap. Followup with various IT requests. Helped Kiyomi and Julia with a request for physical signage. Dinner at home by myself: bbq chicken sloppy joes with cheddar, lettuce, and mayo. Water to drink. Spent the evening reviewing home accounts security and making a few changes to remove reliance of SMS 2FA and to protect against sim-swapping.

Wed Jun 12, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and roasted almonds, half diced pink lady apple; side of half pink lady apple; hot water. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Team meeting with Lawrence and Suzan. Walked and rode Muni to a medical appointment, which was faster than taking the UCSF shuttle. Lunch at Godzila Sushi: salmon teriyaki bento with california roll, salad, rice, and miso soup; cold water to drink. Walked and rode Muni back to work, which was faster than taking the UCSF shuttle. Web edits for Drug Research Unit. Workflow and tools meeting with Suzan. Walked and rode Muni home. Dinner at home by myself: leftovers melange: steamed white rice, black beans, bbq chicken, parsley, corn off the cob from frozen; hot water; white wine. Dessert: a small bowl of cherries. I watched John Mulaney Presents: Everybody's in L.A. - For Your Consideration Event via Danny Pesses then various videos all on YouTube.

Thu Jun 13, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and roasted almonds, dried cherries; hot water. Worked from home. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Prepared a wide communication. Impromptu meeting with the Faculty Academic Affairs team: Robin C, Phillip B, Angelie K. Late lunch: deli chicken noodle soup, Trader Joe's corn chip dippers, water. Listserv management all afternoon. Patrick and Sam returned from their trip. Walked to dinner with Patrick at Viet Quan: We shared imperial rolls—delicious, perfect. Patrick had curry chicken with egg noodle soup. I had chicken with rice plate. Hot tea for both. Patrick said his soup had more bones than chicken. Service was neglectful after the delivery of the entrees; our tea ran out. I tipped 15% anyway on top of taxes and SF mandate. Walked home. Cocktail: I made us Manhattans. We watched The Acolyte s1:e3 on Disney+ then two clips of Gary Gulman on YouTube then The Bear s1:e5 on Hulu. Patrick went to bed. I washed dishes.

Fri Jun 14, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and roasted almonds, dried cherries; hot water. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Edited and published a news story for Suzan. Updated my accomplishments list. Karen and I fielded a request from Patricia R with SOM OME regarding the kitchen. Weeded the list of things I am waiting on others about. Followup with Judy C about a purchase order question. Followup with Andy B about a dynamic listserv for temporary employees. Reimaged laptop setup and config. Listserv management. Made a sign for S126 to let delivery drivers know what to do if we're not here. Lunch: tuna sandwich from Moffitt Cafe Express, water from my water bottle. Walked and rode Muni to Zhuzh for an employee get-together and drinks for Recharge. In attendance: Phil, Drew, Bernard (from Recharge), Cricket, Sanjay, Tai. We chatted a while with Anthony who was there for a gay professionals meetup. We met bartender Ann (Anne?) and Anthony's (acquaintance?) Gina. We remet owner Aaron whom we had met at Macondray. Afterwards, Phil, Drew, Sanjay, Tai, and I walked to dinner at Aicha Moroccan Cuisine where we ate various tagines and couscous plates and drank moroccan mint tea. Among other things, we talked about South Africa, immigration bureaucracy, mutual funds vs. index funds, Hilton, housing, renting, condos, Toastmasters and public speaking, Peaches and Herb, Peaches and Cream, Prince. They drove me home.

Sat Jun 15, 2024

Breakfast: deli chicken noodle soup (and not because of illness). Patrick arrived home from martial arts practice with Sam. Patrick and I had planned to visit the Out Museum at the Chinese Cultural Center, but instead we napped. Late lunch: bowl of cherries, water. Dinner at home with Patrick: crispy tofu with cilantro lime rice, water. Patrick had a glass of sangiovese.

Sun Jun 16, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and roasted almonds, diced peach; hot water. Walked and rode Muni with Patrick to the Castro where we had lunch specials at Thai House Express (415-864-5000, 599 Castro Street): green curry with tofu, vegetarian soup, and egg rolls for Patrick; sauteed basil with beef and sleepy shrimp for me. Hot tea for both. $48.77 before a $9.75 tip. No extra charges! The receipt said our server's name was Neon. All food, drink, and service were excellent. We attended the Castro Stroll which we thought was going to include closed streets with vendors in fair booths but instead was vendors set up tables on sidewalks and no closed streets. The number of vendors seemed sparse. It was disappointing. The weather was somewhat warm with only a bit of cool breeze, so we got crisp white wines at Swirl before we moved to Philz where Patrick got a coffee and where we arranged to meet quantum13. Patrick went home. I walked and rode Muni with quantum13 to the National AIDS Memorial Grove in Golden Gate Park where we attended Flagging in the Park: Pride Edition, encountering Suzan, Tim, Steven, and where we met Brian (sp?). We hung out a while, chatting and dazzled by all the spinning flags. Later we said our goodbyes and walked around Golden Gate Park. We walked past the Conservatory of Flowers where so many people were enjoying the day lounging on the lawn and picnicking. On JFK Drive we saw sculptures and heard live piano players. I stopped for a lime Jarritos at a food truck ($3 cash). We stopped to hear a live musician playing guitar. We continued past the rose garden, saw more sculptures, then visited Stow Lake and rested on a bench a while. We continued along MLK Jr. Drive and I left quantum13 at 9th and Lincoln to catch a bus north while I walked to 9th and Judah to catch a bus south. Dinner at home with Patrick: Patrick had dal from a pouch with leftover rice. I had four crackers topped with Somerdale Red Dragon cheese; a corndog from frozen with ketchup and mustard. Water to drink. Patrick also had a glass of sangiovese. We watched Leonard Bernstein: Larger Than Life on SFPL DVD then part of The Bear s1:e6 on Hulu. I almost forgot to meet for Zoom chat with Lani and Dex. Caught up on journaling. Lately I have been helping Aggie with some questions about trying to restore some missing files, but it looks like we are running out of good options.

Mon Jun 17, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and roasted almonds, blueberries; hot water. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Academic Affairs content build all day. Lunch: leftover chicken with couscous, water from my water bottle. Walked and rode Muni to a doctor appointment. Walked and rode Muni back to work. Walked and rode Muni home. Dinner at home with Patrick: mustardy kale salad with roasted sweet potato and apple, water. We watched extras (interviews) from Leonard Bernstein: Larger Than Life on SFPL DVD then the remainder of The Bear s1:e6 on Hulu then The Bear s1:e7 on Hulu. Patrick went to bed. I deep-cleaned my iPhone 12 mini and Spigen case: removed the case, brushed the case with an old toothbrush and bar soap, wiped the iPhone with a lint-free towel and a little bit of water, poked at the Lightning port for several minutes with a toothpick until several clumps of lint emerged, air-dried the case on our air purifier, then returned the iPhone to its case. Late snack: baked pretzel from frozen, easy on the parmesan salt; hot water with squeeze of half lemon.

Tue Jun 18, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and roasted almonds, blueberries; hot water. Worked from home. Security check: reviewed passwords in macOS System Settings and deleted a bunch I preferred to keep elsewhere. Submitted a quote to renew Montala ResourceSpace. Had trouble because the quote is in GBP and our system only accepts USD. The solution given by Susan W and the Controller's Office was to use a specific currency conversion website and to add a 10% buffer. Listserv management and followup. Met with Leslie C, Suzan R, Julia S about commencement and white coat: script, program, news, and more. Met with Anne S about a forthcoming pipeline program involving UC Merced. Lunch at home: I prepared for myself leftover steamed white rice with leftover dal and a side of corn off the cob from frozen. Hot water to drink. Met with Joel to remove occurrences of the application processing fee from our websites. White Coat Ceremony program insert build; sent a draft to Leslie C and Julia S for review and approval. Dinner at home with Patrick: delivery from Underdogs Too via DoorDash: grilled mahi mahi burrito and sparkling water for Patrick, Nick's Way baja taco and jamaica agua fresca for me. We ate blue corn chips that we already had with guacamole from the restaurant. I washed dishes. We watched The Acolyte s1:e4 on Disney+ then The Bear s1:e8 (season finale) on Hulu. Patrick went to bed.

Wed Jun 19, 2024

Holiday. Slept in a bit. Late breakfast: medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and roasted almonds, diced half banana. Prepared for a doctor appointment. Weeded secured documents that were no longer needed. Walked and rode Muni to the doctor appointment, stopping at KFC for 8 chicken bites and a cup of plain water. I didn't count, but I'm pretty sure they gave me 9 instead of 8. The sauce I had was called KFC, which is confusing. I asked what KFC sauce was, and the worker was wearing a mask and had an accent I could not decipher, so whatever was said was indecipherable. I didn't bother asking them to clarify. I found out that it was a sweet mustard. Why not just call it sweet mustard? I stopped at the vaccine clinic and confirmed that I am not due for a covid booster—maybe in fall when the covid-flu shot becomes available. Walked to Kerry and Mom Ryan's place, meeting Patrick. Mom Ryan just got a new hearing aid and we tested her hearing skills. Not bad. Dinner at El Tucán: Patrick had super quesadilla with camaron and a mineragua, I had birria ramen. My dish included two loafs of ramen, deliciously tender birra, and chopped green onions and cilantro. It was notably too salty, so salty that I was unable to drink nearly all of the broth. I wished that there were an option to add shrimp. Patrick enjoyed his meal. I drank a cup of plain water. $33.85 after tax, no tip for counter service. Afterwards we visited Blush! but there was no band as we had expected. Frameline had closed Castro Street for an event, so likely there was no band because the loud event with megascreens and giant speakers would have drowned it out. We continued to Swirl and enjoyed a glass of sancerre each. Walked and rode Muni home. Edited a new blog post from Bernard at Recharge. Late snack: one pink lady apple.

Thu Jun 20, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and roasted almonds, diced half banana, cinnamon; hot water. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Prepared an announcement of the new comms director for Lawrence L, but when I tested it, I found that it did not display as expected in Outlook Web. Further testing confirmed that Microsoft must have changed something. UCSF shuttle from Parnassus to Mission Bay. Attended staff professional development: How to talk about your career growth with Jay Budner. I thought the session was excellent. Lunch was served at the start: sandwiches, salad, chips, and sweets. UCSF shuttle from Mission Bay to Parnassus, chatting with Lisa D along the way. Continued working at Parnassus a while. Walked and rode Muni home. Extra tired from the long commute. Dinner at home with Patrick: orzo and chickpeas with turmeric-ginger broth, water. Patrick also had a glass of wine. Afterwards we watched The Bear s2:e1 on Hulu then various YouTube videos then about three-fourths of Hank Chen: I'm Not Supposed to Be Here on Amazon Prime. I was atypically falling asleep while watching, so we stopped. Patrick went to bed. Late snack: half handful of tortilla chips left over from Underdogs Too, crackers topped with Somerdale Red Dragon cheese, water.

My fortune: Go for a long walk to clear your mind. Received evidence that fedex.com account information has been compromised (data breach). Academic Affairs web build followup. Sat Jun 22, 2024

We watched the remainder of Original Cast Album: Company on SFPL DVD then Documentary Now! s3:e3 then the supplement Zoom recording of the production of Documentary Now! s3:e3 on the Original Cast Album: Company SFPL DVD. We watched the remainder of Hank Chen: I'm Not Supposed to Be Here on Amazon Prime then most of Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution on Netflix. Patrick went to bed.

Sun Jun 23, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and roasted almonds, diced half mango; hot water. Walked and rode Muni with Patrick to Stonestown Galleria: clothes shopping for me: everything was too big or they didn't have extra small sizes. We also looked at some womens sections for masculine-looking items but I found nothing worth buying. Lunch at Rooster and Rice. Walked and rode Muni home. Traffic along 19th Avenue was horrifying, so we rode the M bus to West Portal Station to the L bus to our neighborhood then walked the rest of the way home. Later I altered a rainbow stripe button-up short-sleeved shirt to make it less wide. It took about two hours. Had trouble with the bobbin case thread tension again. This time I turned it counterclockwise a bunch. Dinner at home with Patrick: tempeh and pineapple kebabs with side salad, water. Patrick also had 1.5 glasses of wine. I washed dishes while Patrick dried them. Patrick went to bed.

Mon Jun 24, 2024

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, chopped and toasted almonds, diced half mango, cinnamon; hot water. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Chatted with Suzan about San Diego, her family, Hemet, Pride weekend, and more. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Academic Affairs content build all day. Standup with Suzan. Lunch to go from Cafe Bellini: avocado and sprouts sandwich. Ate in the spare office with Suzan. In the afternoon Suzan and I met with Lawrence L and Katherine T on Katherine's first day working for School of Pharmacy. Later Suzan and I met with just Katherine. All went well, and we are excited to have Katherine on board. Walked and rode Muni to a dentist appointment. Afterwards I met Patrick at Hulu Wa Chinese Bistro for dinner: we shared an order of steamed white rice. Patrick had tofu eggplant and hot green tea. I had cashew chicken and coconut water. We both thought the meal was good. The space is small. The sauce on my dish was a little too sweet for me but admittedly authentically Chinese-American. Afterwards we walked to Fabulosa Books for a reading: Decades of Pride in Fiction with Trebor Healey, Gar McVey-Russell, and Jim Provenzano. Lucy Jane Bledsoe, Wayne Goodman, and Richard May were others present whom Patrick knew. We enjoyed the reading then walked and rode Muni home.

Tue Jun 25, 2024

Patrick's tacos: baja fish and grilled shrimp. My tacos: carne asada and grilled shrimp. Patrick had a mezcal margarita. I had a frozen mango margarita. My drink seemed to have given me vision problems for about an hour or so. We walked to San Francisco Public Library for Alcatraz on the Silver Screen, part 4 of 4 of Jim Van Buskirk's film talk series. In the row in front of us, two Asian women fell asleep during the talk, and one of them snored loudly. I nearly fell asleep. We walked and rode Muni home. We watched The Acolyte s1:e5 on Disney+. Patrick went to bed. I washed dishes. Did a bit more work because otherwise I would have forgotten where I was in the workflow.

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, chopped and toasted almonds, diced half banana; hot water. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Siteimprove linkchecking, spellchecking, and policy work. Helped Katherine clear junk and set up a workstation in the spare office. Distribution list management. Visited the 9th floor, took photos of the hallway walls, chatted with Kiyomi and Lucia, said hello briefly to Edgar. Resolved a digital letterhead problem and answered related questions for Kiyomi. Helped Suzan find files related to Matt M's recent work. Katherine treated Suzan and me to a get-to-know-you lunch at Ebisu: Family Affair roll, Rock and Roll roll, Cherry Blossom roll, seaweed salad, dynamite lobster (Langostino baked in house dynamite sauce), and chawan-mushi (savory steamed egg custard with shrimp, chicken, shiitake, spinach, and edamame). The dynamite lobster was too salty and rich for me, but I ate it anyway. The chawan-mushi was interesting and tasty; I had had nothing like it before. Afterwards walked back to work and visited the 9th floor and stopped in to meet James F and Kylie L in ICT. We also visited the 8th floor but could not determine where the vacant offices previously offered to us were. Returned to work. Helped Suzan resolve a problem with OneDrive again. Troubleshot a returned problem with proxied images in Campaign Monitor emails not displaying correctly. Lots of email followup all day. Dinner at home with Patrick: Real Simple's Thai curry vegetable and tofu soup, water. Afterwards Patrick made us cocktails with whiskey, chamomile liqueur, basil, and lime juice. We watched The Bear s2:e2 on Hulu then part of Leanne Morgan: I'm Every Woman on Netflix. Patrick went to bed. I washed dishes.

Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and toasted almonds, diced half banana; hot water. Pink Saturday at Tim C's. Patrick stayed home to write in order to finish before a submission deadline tomorrow. I walked and rode Muni there, stopping at Aquitaine for a bottle of La Grange de Quatre Sous Cuvée Garsinde: about $36 after a 30%-off-to-go-bottles discount. In attendance: Tim C, Scott T, Andy M, James K, Harvey V, Ryan D, Jason S, John B, John, Brian S, Mike S, Nolan, Steven H, Nick, Dave R, Ryan, Ray F, Bryan L, Harrison, Jose C, Brian K, Patrick C, Kevin, Daniel, two infants, I think a second Jose, and more whom I didn't meet or whose names I didn't get or couldn't recall. We drank mostly pink drinks. In particular I tasted and loved an elderflower and rose lemonade by Belvoir Farm. Later Ryan and Jason arranged for Indian food delivery with group payment via Venmo or Apple Cash, $40 each. I arrived around 2:30 p.m. and left around 8:30 p.m. Walked and rode Muni home. Exhausted.

Slept in. Late breakfast: Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and toasted almonds, diced half banana; hot water. Midmorning Patrick and I walked and rode Muni to the Castro. We attended Above It All: a San Francisco Pride Sunday party at Charmaine's atop the Proper Hotel hosted by Suzan Revah and Nick Sincere with excellent music and mixes by DJ Hawthorne. Upon arrival there was no line and we rode the elevator with DJ Hawthorne, Nick S, the hotel manager, and a worker with a large cart. We met or encountered Suzan Revah and Tim; Jeffrey and Josh; former Berkeley roommates Eric, Whitney, and Steven; server Gigi who treated us very well; Steven S (aka East Bay Steven) and Dominic; Bebe Sweetbriar; Joanna; Dan; Bernard; Claire; Lizzie; and others whose names I couldn't recall. Drinks: aperol spritz, lovecats (tequila and mezcal), tequila, tequila and soda. Delicious small bites: pretzel rolls with smoked pimento cheese dip and mustard sauce; pork belly skewers with yuzu kosho, black sesame, and chives; grilled japanese chicken meatballs with yuzu, togarashi, and egg yolk jam; coated french fries with ketchup. Later we walked and rode Muni to the Castro for coffee at Spike's: medium latte for Patrick, medium hazelnut latte for me. Mezcal margaritas at Lobby Bar with Patrick. We met scorpio Donnie (guest). On our way out we briefly saw and waved to Reyner T. Walked to dinner at Tanglad (415-828-4592, 469 Castro Street) with Patrick: roasted five-spice chicken and imperial rolls and thai iced tea for Patrick, fresh spring rolls and hot water for me. $41.65 after tax and tip. Food and drink were delicious. Service by Kitty Kat was very good. Walked and rode Muni home. We watched The Bear s2:e4 on Hulu then half of Tom Papa: What a Day! on Netflix. Patrick went to bed. I unloaded photos from my iPhone 12 mini and uploaded them to Flickr. What a day!
