Breakfast: cut cantaloupe, hot water. Midmorning small meal: rice noodle rolls, water. Walked and rode Muni to Hao's One Foot in the Grave party at Mission Rock Resort with a great view of the bay on a covered patio. Rode Uber to J&J Rooftop Hang: Officially Married + Baby Shower. Afterwards I walked to dinner with Dan B, Kam S, Andy M, Scott T, and Patrick C to Comstock Saloon. Andy had a burger and fries, Kam and Scott and Dan each had steak frites, Patrick and I each had garlic noodles add shaking beef. Wine and water to drink. Afterwards I shared a Waymo with Andy, Scott, and Patrick. This was my first time riding in a Waymo, and I liked it. Walked home, partway with Patrick.

Slept in so late that I didn't have breakfast. Midday Phil, Drew, and Tai picked up Patrick and me in a new-to-us Rivian that was purchased in March. We lunched at The Old Clam House, meeting Tony and Tadija there for a celebration meal. Tony and Tadija shared a cup of clam chowder and linguine with assorted seafood. Tai had a sizzling platter of shrimp and mussels. Drew had a lobster roll with salad. Phil had a fishwich and fries. Patrick and I shared bread bowl clam chowder and a lobster roll with fries. Several dishes were notably salty. All who tried the clam chowder enjoyed it. Drew was impressed with the shrimp and mussels platter, saying it looked better than another place's. All food was finished except Patrick and I took home a bunch of fries. Timing was poor at times, notably two coffees arriving very late and a very long delay between T and T's chowder cup and everything else, but service was otherwise very good. This was Patrick's and my first time dining at this historic location—seemingly the 2nd oldest continuously operating restaurant in San Francisco if you don't count the pandemic, despite what their website claims. Roder Uber home. I napped. Dinner at home with Patrick: pepperoni pizza from frozen with fresh thyme, hot water. I wasn't very hungry and had only a tiny slice. Afterwards we watched YouTube then Widow's Bay s1:e8 on Apple TV then YouTube with cantaloupe juice. I processed dirty dishes and cleaned the kitchen at a break in the middle. Patrick went to bed. I processed more dirty dishes, cleaned the kitchen, and started the dishwasher. Troubleshot Apple Reminders failing to synchronize. I tried turning Reminders synch off then waiting 10 minutes then on on all my devices, but that didn't fix it. When logged into iCloud on a web browser I attempted to mark a reminder complete and encountered "Unable to Complete Reminder, The reminder could not be completed due to a server error." I logged out of iCloud on my MacBook Pro then tried the same action and it began synching to other devices correctly. I logged in and the problem returned. Notably, on my Mac, in Reminders, in the left sidebar below the big buttons, I would see a spinner icon spinning to the right of the label "My Lists" that would spin forever and never stop. I deleted and recreated one reminder and that seemed to fix it but just for that one. This reminder was in an unshared list.

Breakfast: rice noodle rolls (shrimp, beef) with cantaloupe juice. Lunch: two small slices of leftover pizza, hot water. I patched holes in walls with spackling compound after hardware had been removed a while ago. In the afternoon Patrick and I repaired the bottoms and seals of our two front doors. I didn't know how they were installed, so for the first door (upper) we removed the door from the hinges and cleaned. I walked to Cliff's Variety and back with two new vinyl inserts. This vinyl insert inserted, and the fit felt tight when we closed the door. It was hard to get the door back on the hinges because it was so heavy. We used plastic shims to give the door enough height to be pushed onto the hinges and quickly slid the pins in. For the lower door, we left the door on the hinges and attempted to replace only the vinyl insert, but we discovered that the channel had been somehow damaged in a way that prevented the new vinyl insert from being inserted. I unscrewed the channel and removed it with a hammer and a 7-in-1 tool and a putty knife. The track had a big dent in it, and I can't imagine how it had gotten damaged. We attempted to repair the channel with a creme brulee torch and a screwdriver, but that did not work. I walked to Cliff's Variety and found the replacement channel. I attempted to install it but realized it was about 3/8 inch too long. I returned to Cliff's Variety and requested a single cut. They did the cut in only a few minutes at no extra charge since I had just purchased it from them. I completed the installation, trimming both vinyl inserts 3/8 inch. Later, dinner at home with Patrick: Italian fried rice with shrimp, hot water. Afterwards we watched YouTube then Widow's Bay s1:e9 on Apple TV with butter microwave popcorn then YouTube. Patrick went to bed. I processed dirty dishes and cleaned the kitchen. Updates and backups for devices and websites.
Tue Aug 4, 2026
Breakfast: I prepared for myself a three-egg scramble with fresh mushrooms, green beans, and green onions. Hot water to drink. Continued updates and backups for devices and websites. Recharge Medical work: mailing list setup for iron IV, published updates to Phil's and Kamal's profile pages on the website. Snack: shrimp chips, then a bit later cherry-pistachio-pecan granola with peanut butter and chocolate chips and plain yogurt. Shopped online for ventilating doors that aren't storm doors. Changed some AirTags. I deep-cleaned the dryer lint receptacle. Dinner at home with Patrick: delivery from RT Rotisserie via DoorDash: RTR salad with chicken, sweet yellow corn. Dessert: chocolate sable cookie. Patrick had oatmilk with maple syrup. I had milk with cinnamon syrup. We watched Widow's Bay s1:e10 (season finale) on Apple TV then 28 minutes of The Thin Man (1934) on SFPL DVD. Patrick went to bed. Recharge Medical web work: I created category filters for /blog using page collections and made it work for all five languages. I processed dirty dishes, cleaned the kitchen, and started the dishwasher. Plant care.
Wed Aug 5, 2026
Breakfast: Martha Stewart's savory pancake from frozen with sour cream, hot water. Recharge Medical web work: followup from yesterday's blog category filters work. Examined electricity and gas bills. Followup with a domain registration issue. Deep-cleaned silverware marks from porcelain bowls with Bar Keeper's Friend and Comet and a lot of elbow grease. Called utility providers to confirm the procedure for adding a door lock in front of a meter. They said we can buy any keypad lock we like. Just call to share the code with them. Patrick and I walked to grocery shopping at the farmer's market then dinner at La Mediterranee: chicken kabob plate with avgolemeno soup for Patrick, salmon kabob plate with avgolemeno soup for me. Hot moroccan mint tea for each. For dessert we got a pint of Ben and Jerry's PB Over the Top from the neighboring market and ate it at home while watching Ted Lasso s4:e1 on Apple TV. Patrick went to bed. I rewatched the last 30 minutes of Star Trek (2009) purchased from Apple. Used ChatGPT to help me create an Automator Quick Action to automate setting permissions in order to work around a problem with sharing files on our shared network drive. Backed up existing Automator workflows. Late snack: three dried apple slices, one peach, water.
Thu Aug 6, 2026
Breakfast: leftover Italian fried rice with shrimp, hot water. Shopped online for a medium-sized round dining table so that we can dine closer to the sliding glass doors. Lunch: leftover Italian fried rice with shrimp, hot water. I again patched holes in walls with spackling compound after hardware had been removed a while ago. Performed a wifi signal test in preparation for installation of door locks on our meter cabinets. The results were better than I had expected. Our wifi reaches to the meter closets with upwards of 65% signal. Recharge Medical work: edited email campaign content. Cleaned the bathroom, cut my hair, showered, cleaned the bathroom. Dinner at home with Patrick: Japanese soy-simmered tofu and green onions over steamed rice, hot water. I processed dirty dishes and started the dishwasher. Afterwards we rewatched part of Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark in 4K on Apple TV from a long-ago purchase. Dessert: Patrick had hot chocolate, I had strawberries. Patrick was too tired to watch more and went to bed. I handwashed more dirty dishes, put away leftover food, and cleaned the kitchen. Followup with a domain registration problem. Late snack: leftover french fries with ketchup, water. Recharge Medical work: bulk email address verification, built an email campaign, sent test messages for review/approval.

Breakfast at home with Patrick. Patrick prepared french toast using Andersen's white bread with strawberries and maple syrup, side of small sausage patty, Nespresso coffee with milk, hot water. After breakfast we inspected the heating system in the garage; one component was making a noise that Patrick had not remembered hearing before. I washed dishes then cleaned the kitchen after Patrick had emptied the dishwasher before visiting Mom Ryan. I continued wall repairs after hardware had been removed a while ago. Erase-A-Hole followed by spackling seemed to work reasonably well—better than I had expected, especially after giving Erase-A-Hole repairs a little more time to dry and solidify. It's not yet perfect, so today I sanded then respackled. I also sanded in various places some wall bumps which will need to be touch-up painted later. Made new vinegar solution for cleaning. Plant care. Began a new home improvement project to repair a crack in the wall above the dryer. I scored around the crack with a razor blade to remove loose wall material then vacuumed and dusted the work area then spackled. Vacuumed the north bedroom aka office. Emptied the paper shredder and resolved a problem in which some items in the bin were not completely shredded. Recharge Medical work: removed the link to the before and after gallery from the Revanesse Versa blog page because the Revanesse website changed to remove it. Began using spanishdict.com to learn Spanish, recommended by Andy M. Late lunch: half peach, leftovers from La Mediterranee, hot water. Washed dishes and cleaned the kitchen. Trash management. Another round of sanding and respackling. Emptied the handheld vacuum directly in the trash bin in the garage (instead of doing it in a smaller bin inside the home). Cleaned dirt stains from the outer stairwell floor created after doing the door bottom renewal and replacement project from a few days ago. Patrick napped and I rested, unable to fall completely asleep. Later Patrick and I visited establishments participating in the Art Walk: Art House SF (Kenichi Kuriyagawa), Photo Booth Museum, Chartreuse by Roje. We met Paul at The Academy for wine (pinot gris and secreto) and small bites: grilled cheese sandwich with potato chips, goat cheese flatbread, and deviled eggs. Afterwards we again stopped at Art House SF gallery so that Paul could see the Kenichi Kuriyagawa works. We then walked to Hot Cookie for cookies: pecan chocolate chip for Paul, one toffee and one peanut butter chocolate for Patrick and me. Patrick walked home. Paul and I barhopped: 440, Blush!, Midnight Sun, Moby Dick. At all of these we did not stay very long. At Last Call we had one drink each, watching Spice World on the television, and staying a while then left. At The Mix Paul was denied entry because he was carrying his coffee thermos having come directly from work and they have a rule of no outside drinks. We walked to my home so he could drop that off and a few other small things he was carrying. We continued barhopping, dancing for a while at Toad Hall before a round of drinks at The Edge where I met his friend and childhood schoolmate Michael B. Paul and I returned to my home. He retrieved his belongings and walked home. A fun evening.

Breakfast: Martha Stewart's savory pancake from frozen with sour cream and diced green onions, hot water. I continued wall repairs after hardware had been removed a while ago: sanded. All day: continued shopping for keypad locks. Lunch: two corn on the cobs, hot water. Midafternoon snack: one peach, lightly salted crackers with no-salt peanut butter. Dinner at home with Patrick: mushroom quesadillas with salsa, guacamole, and sour cream; hot water. Afterwards we watched YouTube then finished rewatching Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark in 4K on Apple TV with butter microwave popcorn and sake. Patrick went to bed. Installed macOS Tahoe 26.6.1 on my MacBook Pro and Patrick's MacBook Pro.
Sun Aug 9, 2026
Breakfast: TJ's pistachio-cherry-maple granola with milk, side of applesauce, hot water. I continued wall repairs after hardware had been removed a while ago: painted. I also touch-up painted other areas of the wall. Retested and adjusted door bottoms. Cleaned areas of tools. Finished researching then prepared and sent my letter to neighbors describing my choices for keypad door locks for our meter closets. Followup with a domain registration issue and finally got an answer which resulted in no action on my part. It was so difficult to get help from this registrar, though. Midafternoon snack: Patrick's frosted cinnamon swirl bread. Requested feedback from friends for drafts of our new advanced health care directives. Lazy cocktails: Tip Top naked and famous then margarita. Dinner at home with Patrick: white beans with andouille sausage over steamed rice, cold water. I processed dirty dishes and cleaned the kitchen. Unpackaged and brought into service two new handwarmers following the Ocoopa recall. Ocoopa still has not returned my emails asking them for more details about their recall refund procedure which requires a photograph of the wording on the handwarmer but mine has rubbed off over time. Afterwards we watched YouTube. Patrick went to bed. Google Meet chat with Dex and Lani. Late snack: dried apple rings.
Mon Aug 10, 2026
Breakfast: I prepared for myself a two-egg omelette with sauteed mushrooms and diced green onion with monterey jack cheese, one small chicken sausage patty, and one hash brown patty. Hot water to drink. I unloaded the dishwasher, processed dirty dishes, and cleaned the kitchen. I noticed that a custom rubber bumper had fallen off our 2022 Pottery Barn Brenner leather bar and counter stool that I had applied a while ago with black Sugru. I cleaned it with dish soap solution, dried it thoroughly, and reapplied it with silicone sealant. I used a rubber band and a Chef Craft bread and bagel clip to hold the rubber band tightly while it dried. Read Wirecutter's The Best Fast Chargers for Every Device, updated February 19, 2026, and was disappointed because many (half?) of their picks say "may be out of stock" and because the article is mostly written presuming that people have only one or two devices to charge. When I travel, I might have my phone, either my laptop or iPad, and two handwarmers that double as phone chargers. The article mentions one device with multiple USB-A ports, but I mostly don't have USB-A devices or cables anymore. And if I'm travelling with Patrick, then it would be nice to have one USB-C device that fast-charges two USB-C phones instead of two small USB-C chargers. Decided to not upgrade cables or chargers. We could, but there's not just that pressing of a need. Changed emergency water in Aquatainers. Swept in front of the home. Recycling got picked up today but not trash or compost. Continued spackling the wall in the laundry room next to the ceiling fan. This time I removed the fan cover and spackled the cracks leading away from the cover. Began altering draft advanced health care directives after a friend provided some feedback. Dinner at home with Patrick: delivery from Slice House via DoorDash. We shared a Sicilian Motorhead (tomato sauce, mozzarella, salami, mushrooms, pepperoni, applewood smoked bacon, italian sausage, ricotta, basil), small caesar salad, cannoli. Patrick also made for us pineapple-mint sodas with pineapple juice, sparkling water, and the mint syrup he made a while back. The caesar salad had at least three small bugs in it, so we threw it away before anyone ate it. The pizza was delicious and filling. We each could eat only one slice, which was about a 6 by 6 inch square. Patrick requested and received a refund for the salad. We watched Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 4K via previous iTunes purchase upgraded to 4K for free by Apple. Patrick went to bed. I processed dirty dishes, cleaned the kitchen, and started the dishwasher. While watching the movie I tested the new Explorer10 handwarmer by Tough Tested and it worked well. Updates for home devices.

Breakfast at home: a tiny piece of Patrick's cinnamon swirl bread, one quarter of a banana, hot water. Recharge Medical web work: added mail.recharge.clinic to .htaccess to resolve those entries appearing in Google Search Console then requested indexing, investigated why an external marker (AuraVenu) was appearing in GSC. Advanced health care directive draft work. Lunch at home with Patrick: pizza slices from yesterday, water. Washed the top of the liquor cabinet and the green decorative bowls that Will had given to me long ago. Housecleaning: cleaned all kitchen mats top and bottom with dish soap solution and the handheld vacuum. Plant care. Reorganized reminders in Apple Reminders. Foot care. Recharge Medical work: Began building an electronic or online new patient form in their patient-facing portal. Pre-dinner cocktails with Patrick: bicyclettas. We were still full from lunch, so we ate a late dinner: we shared one slice of last night's pizza. Dessert: Bi-Rite chocolate chip cookies.
Wed Aug 12, 2026
Patrick made banana bread before I woke. Breakfast at home: one quarter slice of leftover Slice House pizza, a slice of Patrick's banana bread, milk, water. Midmorning Sam arrived, and he and Patrick and I drove to errands and lunch. At Clement Nursery we encountered a quiet dog named Opal. We purchased a 4-inch-diameter pot blue spires rosemary (rosmarinus officinalis) and a 4-inch-diameter pot dragon tree (dracaena marginata) and two containers. Ty helped pot our plant purchases very nicely. We stopped at Home Coffee Roasters for coffee and to use the restroom. We lunched at Bread n Chu: pork katsu sandwich for Sam, chicken katsu sandwich and ube latte for Patrick, egg salad sandwich and jasmine iced tea for me. Sam drove us home. The rosemary plant will live outside on the balcony to get full sun all day. The dragon tree will live on Patrick's desk in the office. Recharge Medical work: formbuilding in FollowMyHealth. Patrick and I walked to the farmer's market at Market and Noe Streets to buy produce: peaches, grapes, cantaloupe, corn. Walked home. Recharge Medical web work: updated the dermal fillers page with new pricing. Dinner at home with Patrick: pizza slices from ereyesterday, water, white wine. We watched Ted Lasso s4:e2 on Apple TV then Moonlighting s2:e5 My Fair David on Hulu then YouTube. Patrick went to bed. Late snack: one peach. I made minor changes to the dermal fillers pages to correct some missed translations.
Thu Aug 13, 2026
Breakfast: Patrick made us banana milkshakes. I also had the last slice of Patrick's banana bread, warmed. Also water to drink. Removed the laundry room vent fan and inspected the duct with an endoscope. There's a bit of dust for the length I could see, but I don't think that's causing the problem we have of the room not venting adequately. Sanded the spackling over cracks around the fan opening. Lunch: leftover white beans with andouille sausage over steamed rice, water. Transferred paint from an old, rusting can to a new one. In the laundry room I painted spackling and touch-up painted elsewhere. I labelled the new can with a paint sample card and snack-sized ziploc bag and taped it to the can. Chatted with Auntie Helen via SMS. Dinner at home with Patrick: fusilli with marinara, spinach, and fresh grated parm; hot water. We watched YouTube then we rewatched Star Trek (2009) on Apple TV via past iTunes purchase with salted pistachios. Patrick went to bed. I processed dirty dishes and cleaned the kitchen. Late snack: one peach, two corns on the cob, water.
Fri Aug 14, 2026

Cocktails with Patrick: limoncello seltzers. Dinner at home with Patrick: steamed dim sum from frozen. Afterwards we rewatched Star Trek: Into Darkness on Apple TV via previous iTunes purchase. Patrick went to bed. Recharge Medical web work: resolved problems with sitemap lastmod datestamps following bgraabek's very nice fix (issue #121 in the sitemap plugin): upgrade to sitemap plugin version 5.2.2 then remove all occurrences of sitemap: lastmod: from frontmatter.
Sat Aug 15, 2026
Breakfast at home: Patrick's homemade granola with yogurt and blueberries, hot water. Successfully configured router-based DNS adblocking while permitting Google Analytics by creating an account with an adblock dns service. Recharge Medical work: Attempted to resolve duplicate without user-selected canonical urls in Google Search Console and failed. Lunch: leftover fusilli with marinara, spinach, and fresh grated parm, hot water. In the afternoon I was invited by Suzan to join a Madonnarama party for her friend Saturn on the eve of Madonna's 68th birthday. Patrick needed time to himself and remained at home. I walked to Suzan and Tim's place. Michael T, Leo, and I chatted until Suzan was ready, then Leo drove us to Saturn's place in SoMa. I met or encountered Simon, Brook, Chris, dog King Louis, George, Jara, Juan, Jorge, Celso, and perhaps more whose names I did not recall. Madonna played on the speakers while Madonna videos played muted on televisions. Various people performed lip synchs of various Madonna songs with group sing-alongs. Pre-mixed cocktails included True Blue (vodka with blue curaƧao) and Hard Candy (I don't recall the ingredients in this one). Suzan had two outfits: 1. black and gold with cone bustier and bleached blond ponytail and fake headset microphone, 2. Dress You Up jacket with lace gloves and top, crucifixion and beaded and chain necklaces or bracelets, blue sheer leggings, and the bright-bold colors of the 1980s in navy blue wrap skirt, neon green belt, and teal hair scrunchy with an iridescent tamborine. Suzan won a t-shirt (Everyone here is a work of art) for being best dressed. There were various trivia quizzes on which I did poorly because I misunderstood the instructions—complete the next line of lyrics, not write the name of the song. At one point someone dropped a slice of chocolate-raspberry cake on a beautiful checkerboard rug, and I was surprised when it was removed quite cleanly with soda water and a dishcloth and a fair amount of rubbing. Much fun, food, and drink were had. Afterwards Simon gave us a ride back to Suzan and Tim's. We rested a bit before Simon and I walked to dinner in the Castro. Tanglad was full with a 20-minute wait. Ka Kai was full with a long line. We got in with no waiting at Thai House Express. We shared fresh spring rolls with tofu and pan fried noodles with yellow curry with tofu, mild. Thai iced tea for Simon, hot jasmine tea for me. While dining we encountered Ryan dining nearby with friend PJ, and we said hello. Afterwards Simon and I walked to Castro and Market Streets, and Simon tried to find blanco tequila for Tim and Suzan at Rossi's then at Castro Liquor and Wine before the request was belayed. Simon left to meet Tim on Market Street. I walked home and fell asleep a while later.
Sun Aug 16, 2026
Slept in a bit. Late breakfast: I prepared blueberry muffins then ate 3 of them with a small bowl of grapes, hot water. Vacuumed the hardwood parts of the floors on both levels. Removed sticky shmutz from a drying rack then applied cork pads to prevent it from leaving marks on the wall where we store it next to the dryer in the laundry room. Worked on frankfarm.org: altered .htaccess to remove double redirects related to trailing slashes and removal of "journal/", also altered .htaccess to add canonical link elements. Read the first 5 pages of 5 stories that Patrick has been working on, then we talked about them, and I gave him feedback that he requested. Dinner at home with Patrick: grilled cheese with creamy tomato soup, hot water, red wine. Dessert for Patrick only: chocolate ice cream. We restarted watching The Thin Man (1934) on SFPL DVD and finished. I processed dirty dishes, cleaned the kitchen, and started the dishwasher. Late snack: grapes.

Domain registration work for Recharge Medical: changed providers. Lunch: leftover fusilli with marinara, spinach, and fresh grated parm, hot water. In the evening I walked to Suzan and Tim's and we shared wine and charcuterie with crackers while I helped them with their technology issues. We covered a lot of ground, but this likely with be the first of several sessions like this. Afterwards I walked home, stopping at Super Duper for a mini burger and fries with lemonade.

Breakfast at home: spinach and mushroom quesadilla, hot water. Across the street our neighbor hired workers to remove at least one large tree. Lunch at home: tomato soup, side of mac salad, cold water. The spiders I had previously observed living on the underside of the washer and dryer no longer seemed to be there. Nonetheless, I deep-cleaned under these appliances using "2Pcs Dryer Vent Cleaner Kit Universal Vacuum Hose Attachment & Brush" by PetOde on Amazon and our Miele Capri vacuum to remove hair and dust. Patrick and I walked to dinner at La Mediterranne. Chicken kebob plate with avgolemeno soup for Patrick, chicken pomegranate plate with avgolemono soup for me. Hot moroccan mint tea for both. No dessert. About $72 after tax and before an $11 tip. Service by Posey was good. We stopped at the farmer's market to buy two asian pears and two honeycrisp apples. I walked home.
