Breakfast: leftover pappardelle with meatball to which I added baby spinach and additional spaghetti sauce from a jar, toasted english muffin (regular, not Model Bakery) with salted butter, hot water. Reapplied ReRACK to the lower dishwasher rack because some of it had started to peel. ReRACK works as expected on some of the prongs but it peels on others. I'll continue using the bottle I have, but I probably won't buy it again. Adjusted settings on the south bathroom washlet. Tested the home's water pressure using a water pressure gauge—75 psi static, 80 psi peak. Caught and killed a large fly that had found its way inside while a door was open. I first tried the handheld vacuum, but it was too fast. I then tried to paralyze it with hair spray, but it did not slow the fly even though I hit it directly a few times. In the end I killed it by slapping it midair with my slipper. Vacuumed the dead fly with the handheld vacuum. Wiped all the hairspray on wall and window surfaces. Lunch: one sliced peach, cheesy crackers, thai iced tea with condensed milk using a tea mix purchased from Weee. Used ChatGPT to alter an Automator script to no longer provide a notification when the script succeeds. Instead it triggers the system alert audio and, if set, flashes the screen. Patrick and I walked to dinner at Jules which recently made the Bon Appetit list of Best New Restaurants in 2026 alongside Maria Isabel. Jules also made the New York Times list of the Best 25 Restaurants in San Francisco right now. We shared the TJ caesar salad ($18) and the Marone pizza ($23) and added a side of green sauce ($3). Drinks: cardamaro ($9) for Patrick, Jules spritz ($14) for me. Patrick later had a glass of Calabretta Carricante ($18). For dessert we shared blueberry bay leaf ice cream (bay leaf ice cream, blueberry compote, cornmeal cookie crumble) no pizookie (some kind of hot cookie) ($12). The meal was tasty, but after this meal I did not understand the excitement and hype surrounding this restaurant's recent awards. The sauce did indeed have a nice flavor to it, but I found the dough to be no different than other good pizzas in San Francisco except that the bottom is a little crisper or stronger with a bend a few inches from the point when holding a slice. Patrick liked the meal more than I did, but he also thought the bay leaf flavor in the ice cream could have been stronger. I liked the crunchiness of the crumble in the ice cream. Timing was mostly very good but marred by a very long delay between the salad and the pizza—perhaps 25 minutes? We did not complain about anything. The restaurant was full and very busy the entire time we were there. Service was mostly good; a few times we had wondered where our server had gone, but when present she was friendly and knowledgeable and created a good rapport. The receipt said our server was Jules J. $105 after tax and before a 20% tip. Walked home. We watched Ride or Die s1:e4 on Amazon Prime Video then YouTube. Patrick went to bed. Touch-up painted a tiny spot of rust in the south bathroom sink. I joined Patrick in bed not long after.
