Breakfast at home: plain yogurt with diced peach, flax meal, and Mexican vanilla; one slice of multigrain toast with salted butter; hot water. In the morning movers from Lugg moved one Ikea Tunhem cabinet from our lower hallway to the garage. They were done in under 10 minutes. It was our first time using Lugg. Unloaded photos from my iPhone 16 Pro to my MacBook Pro. Nap. Walked and rode Muni with Patrick to dinner at A Mano: festa frizzante for Patrick, mela al giorno for me. We shared: focaccia with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, little gems salad, tagliatelle alla bolognese. Dessert: pistachio ice cream topped with very fresh toasted pistachios. Patrick had an espresso. All food and drink were delicious. Service by Chiara M was great when it arrived but slow at times. We weren't in a hurry, and the slowness felt Italian to Patrick. Patrick had ordered a doble espresso but received a single, but we were only charged a single and did not bother to mention the error. $101.50 after tax and before a 20% tip. Afterwards we walked to New Conservatory Theatre to see Hedwig and the Angry Inch starring Samuel del Rosario as Hedwig and trixxie carr as Yitzhak. We very much enjoyed the show. At the show we encountered H.P. M. (formerly Patrick) and (I think?) Mike and chatted briefly before and after. Walked and rode Muni home. Patrick went to bed. I joined about an hour later.

This was Patrick's first visit to their home, so he got a full tour. Afterwards Patrick and I rode home with Paul, rested for a moment, then walked to quick dinner at La Tortilla. A burrito for Paul, dos tacos for Patrick, dos tacos for me. Then we walked to The Cafe for Synchronicity: A Whirlwind of Connection, a video single release party for Gypsy Love. We encountered and chatted briefly with Steven S, Simon T, Arthur W, and Tim M. Our VIP seats were near the DJ booth. The video and live performances were excellent, and everything seemed to go smoothly. We enjoyed our drinks with complimentary popcorn and other snacks. Late snack: roasted salted cashews, crackers with cream cheese.
Mon Jun 8, 2026
Cleaned in the south bathroom. Did a tiny bit of organizing of things in the laundry room. Processed awaiting shredding. Sanded a very tiny chip in a white wine glass with 3000-grit sandpaper then washed it and put it back into service. Installed more rubber bumpers on walls and cabinet doors after realizing that I had remembered door-closed cases but I had forgotten door-all-the-way-open cases. Dinner at home with Patrick: mushroom and spinach pizza from frozen, hot water. Afterwards we walked to Full Proof where Brad was hosting Garrett from Tip Top Proper Cocktails serving tastings of their prepared classic cocktails from a can. Everything we tried was excellent. We'll return later to buy us some Tip Top. They're perfect for when you want a cocktail but you don't want to mix four or more ingredients with ice and shake and clean up. During the event we met Hadley S and talked about dogs and where we lived and Santa Barbara and Patrick also chatted a lot with Brad. Afterwards we walked to Fabulosa Books for Mighty Real: A History of LGBTQ Music, 1969-2000, a book release reading and conversation with author Barry Walters and SF Bay Guardian Executive Editor and Publisher Marke Bieschke. Mighty Real is to pop music as Vito Russo's The Celluloid Closet is to film. Walters shared his opinion about Madonna recently in Times Square and Confessions on a Dance Floor 2 and a story about Peter Hook from New Order and more. Applied silicone sealant to the outside of the balcony sliding glass doors. The diverter switch for the dog shower in the south bathroom had broken a few days ago. It's made of plastic, and there are now two tiny cracks in it. I filled the attachment hole with silicone sealant and reattached it. We'll see a few days later if it holds. I did some touch-up painting for walls. I sanded the bannister in preparation for touch-up painting. Errands with Patrick: picked up a Too Good to Go surprise bag from Philz Coffee—many pastries and a bagel for about $5, then we picked up a few items at Cliff's Variety (right side), then we browsed but didn't buy anything at Cliff's Variety (left side). Coffee for Patrick, chai with local honey and milk for me. Physical therapy exercises to treat a minor back issue. All day: Recharge Medical work: began editing a new version of the I-693 page mostly to make the 1-visit option more prominent. Lunch: leftovers from last night's dinner, cold water. Patrick and I created signage for a forthcoming event on 4x6 index cards, laminated. This was complicated by the printer (Epson XP-7100) leaving streaks and smears on the printouts. I performed head cleaning and paper guide cleaning several times and eventually it started printing clearly again, but I'm not sure exactly what fixed it. I did more desk shopping/research online. Dinner at home with Patrick: chickpea and veggie curry with steamed rice, naan from frozen, water, white wine. Afterwards we watched The Third Man on Kanopy. Patrick went to bed. To bed late.
Fri Jun 12, 2026

Scanned a black-and-white proof sheet of negatives from Patrick and Sam in 1992 and processed the images in Photoshop. Physical therapy exercises to treat a minor back issue. Installed rubber feet for our Mitchell Gold leather couch. Filed property tax paperwork. Cleaned the bathroom, cut my hair, showered, cleaned the bathroom. Removed a few small spots of mold found in the top corners of the south bathroom window with vinegar and dish soap solution. We haven't been able to open the window because the lock is broken so until it is fixed we just have to be more careful about opening another nearby window if the shower is used. Late lunch on the sunny balcony: leftover orecchiette with marinara sauce from a jar, two mandarins, cold water. Washed dishes and cleaned the kitchen. Foot care. Cleaned the sliding glass door windows and handles inside and out with vinegar and dish soap solution. The handles had years of grime. Scrubbed all kitchen mats and the bannister with dish soap and water solution. Adjusted spam filters. Walked to Detour for drinks with a subset of The Syndicate: Scot B, Scott T, Andy M, Timmy D, Tim C, John L, Jose C, JY, Adrian. Scot B gifted us a Brazos Bottom Pecan Pie from Goode Company partly intending it for a forthcoming party, but he had misremembered the date. As Patrick and I left for an early dinner, Chris N and Jeff N arrived. Patrick and I dined at El Tucan: Patrick had one quesabirria and one al pastor taco. I had one steak taco and one chicken taco. Melon agua fresca for both. $34.96 after tax and tip—one of the least expensive meals in the Castro. We watched YouTube.
Sat Jun 13, 2026
Breakfast at home: everything bagel previously frozen with cream cheese and finely diced green onion, two mandarins, hot water. Physical therapy exercises to treat a minor back issue. Edited a third revision of the I-693 Recharge Medical web page for Drew. Patrick and I mounted a new Tempo clock in saffron from Room and Board on the living room wall. Spent an hour trying to disable the What's New dialog in Acrobat and failed. I found an Adobe web page talking about how to create a plist for the key called DisableWhatsNewAutoOpen and followed all the steps—seemingly successfully—and it did not work, so I gave up. Such a waste of time. Reviewed documents related to estate planning. Changed the air purifier prefilter. (Two other air purifiers are now in storage.) Patrick and I walked to Brett's art studio after receiving an invitation to visit. On the way home we stopped at Dandelion Chocolate for a hot chocolate and to use the restroom. Walked home. Google Search Console work for various websites. Physical therapy exercises to treat a minor back issue. Patrick and I walked and rode Muni to West Coast Craft at Fort Mason Festival Pavilion. We got empanadas and a lemon LaCroix at a food truck outside the entrance. We spent several hours walking through the many vendor booths. We encountered Brett and Robert and chatted briefly. There were a lot—too many—booths with similar things that were girly/feminine, whimsical/cute, women's clothing. Patrick tried on a $108 shirt he liked but decided not to buy it because it seemed $30 more than he was willing to pay. I tried on a unisex rain coat I liked but decided that it wasn't worth $180 because it wasn't even lined. Folded remaining clothes that Patrick had washed earlier this morning. Followup with Taskrabbit about our recent task. Research for home maintenance vendors. Continued editing a batch of Mom Ryan's photos that Patrick had brought home and which I had scanned. Patrick walked me through using our new Nespresso machine to make coffee for me. Breakfast: halves of two Philz Coffee pastries, previously frozen, via Too Good To Go, heated; one sliced honeycrisp apple; coffee with milk and simple syrup; hot water. All the times I have tried Nespresso in the past I have not liked it at all. This one—melozio decaf—was just okay. Adding simple syrup did not help much. Touch-up painting of one spot by the Aiphone in the south bedroom. Physical therapy exercises to treat a minor back issue. Lunch: I ate the reminder of Patrick's leftovers from last night's dinner and prepared yakisoba from frozen with cabbage, grated carrot, and sliced yellow bell pepper. Hot water to drink.
