Followup with Calpoison team about Google Analytics, Siteimprove, and their news categories request. More styling work. Errand: hardware store. Social media and content strategy meeting with Dana A and Judy D and the team. Judy demonstrated lots of great work on her part, and I think she is terrifics. Styling work. Rode Uber Pool Express home. Met Chris D at home after he parked near our place and walked to Ingleside and back. He's staying with us one night only. Dinner at home: Patxi's Pizza delivery: Favorite 12-inch (pepperoni, mushroom, and olive) deep dish, butter leaf lettuce salad with ranch dressing, sparkling water, red wine. While waiting we enjoyed playing chapter three in Rusty Lake Paradise. The pizza delivery was a disaster. One hour after ordering I received a phone call from a driver asking if my address was 1020 Irving Street. Several minutes later after my attempts at resolution the restaurant explained that they rely on third-party drivers and that they were unable to reach our delivery driver and that they will need to reorder my order. The reordered order would be sent by a different driver and would take another 45 minutes. The new delivery was received 45 minutes later. About 10 minutes later I received a phone call from the restaurant confirming the receipt, and I think they agreed to comp the meal. Installed a new kitchen sink swivel spray because the old one had stopped working properly due to a decomposed washer. Chris watched Star Trek: Discovery s1:e7 Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad, and I joined him partway through.

Fri Aug 3, 2018

Vacation day with Chris D. For both Chris and me I prepared Kona coffee with milk, a cheddar omelette with parsley, english muffin with butter, grapes, sliced nectarine. I also had 8 ounces of orange juice. Patrick stopped by briefly for a nap before going out again for day tasks. Chris and I bought discount tickets to Walt Disney Family Museum via Goldstar. We rode an unusually long Uber Pool ride downtown. The ride took an hour. We had two additional riders, one before we entered and another after the first rider alighted. The second rider had trouble finding the car because construction at the pickup location prevented the driver from stopping at the assigned corner, and the same construction also limited visibility for the rider to spot us. We weren't in a hurry. Chris and I alighted and walked a short distance to Autodesk Gallery where we spent about an hour or so browsing all the interesting exhibits. Afterwards we visited the Ferry Building Marketplace and decided on a light bite from El PorteƱo: empanadas, two each. Mine: shrimp and veggie. We walked to California and Drumm and rode a rather large PresidiGo bus for free to the Presidio. The ride took about 30 minutes and was relatively pleasant. We alighted and walked about four minutes to the Walt Disney Family Museum. With tickets from Goldstar the $25 admission price was instead $15 each. For Goldstar tickets you still need to stand in line to get printed tickets from the ticket desk. (For some other ticket vendors you can skip the line.) This was my second visit to WDFM. I loved it again. The downstairs exhibit featured Glen Keane, whom we learned is the son of Bil Keane of The Family Circus fame. Glen Keane is known for his masterful work on Disney films The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Tarzan, and Tangled. The exhibition is called Make Believe: The World of Glen Keane and runs March 8 to September 3, 2018. I bought a Hint cherry from the museum cafe and introduced Chris to it. We also browsed in the store and I bought a $30 t-shirt with a mostly faithful reproduction of the E ticket on the front (no watermark though). We had spent four hours at the museum. At 6 pm we rode UberX to Chow on Church to meet Patrick for dinner. Drinks: hard apple cider for Chris, (water)melon refresher for Patrick, lazy river for me. Entrees: Patrick and Chris each had a large thai chicken salad. I had a medium prawn salad. Total before tip: $74.08.

Sat Aug 4, 2018

Breakfast at home with Patrick: crepes two ways: sweet: carmelized banana, peanut butter, chocolate caramel sauce; savory: scrambled eggs, sopresetta, cheddar, and parsley. 8 ounces of orange juice. Trimmed some overgrown weeds in the backyard. Began repairs to address a corroded locknut on the cold faucet of our kitchen sink, then gave up after some time while trying to cut a rusted nut with my Dremel and a cutting disk whilst lying on my back, realizing that the Dremel could easily fall on my face or slip in my hands to cut my arms, hands, or fingers. Too dangerous, even with safety goggles and thick gloves. No solution for now. Recharge Medical work: editing. Watched Victoria & Abdul on Netflix DVD with Patrick. We liked the film. Dinner at home with Patrick: Good Eggs veggie sausages with sweet peppers and onions, Hint watermelon. Patrick also had a glass of red wine. I continued playing Agent A on my iPad Pro after not having played it in a long time. I had gotten stuck on chapter three and had to look up the answer online, then proceeded with chapter four. Recharge Medical work: more editing, and I also made live a web page for PRP treatment. Late snack: grapes.

We ran an errand then stopped at The Pilsner for a margarita each. We visited Beaux briefly, then visited The Castro Fountain for ice cream: two scoops: chocolate and strawberry tres leches. Dinner at Eureka with Patrick: Manhattan and fried chicken for him, Paloma and pot roast for me. The fried chicken now comes with black-eyed peas in addition to mashed potatoes with gravy and collard greens. The number of pieces of chicken also seems to have increased. For dessert we shared a chocolate pot de creme. Service by Alex was excellent but just a tad slow at the end. All the food and drink was delicious. Eureka is still one of our favorite places in the Castro. Rode UberX home.

Breakfast at home with Patrick: egg, cheddar, and roasted red bell pepper on english muffin, 8 ounces of orange juice. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Laurel Heights. 2021T your photos are live html email work in Mailchimp. Helped Joel, Rick, and Zoraida with a problem in which some of them lost the ability to save as PDF from Outlook 2016. It seems you need an add-in enabled and a registry setting corrected. I set them up with info to take to UCSF IT. Lunch at b on the go: chicken grec sandwich, water: about $10. Scheduled the html email. Siteimprove work: linkchecking. Task followup. Walked and rode Muni home. Dinner at home with Patrick: Good Eggs sheet pan ratatouille with eggs and chevre except Patrick used a casserole dish instead of a sheet pan and he didn't use chevre because I dislike goat cheese. Afterwards we played Rusty Lake Paradise and Agent A on my iPad Pro. Recently I discovered that the H key on my iPad Pro Magic Keyboard does not work. It's still under warranty, so I'll need to take it in sometime soon.

Sat Aug 11, 2018

Breakfast at home with Patrick: cinnamon-pecan scones from Thorough Bread and Pastry, sliced apple, chocolate mint tea. Nap. Rode UberX with Patrick to Proposition Chicken on Market Street for lunch: fried chicken sandwiches for both, mine with kale subbed for spicy slaw. Root beer for Patrick, water for me. Afterwards we walked to Mr. S Leather and browsed but bought nothing. We walked to an errand on Market Street near Safeway, then continued toward the Castro. I left Patrick at The Pilsner Inn then continued to an eye doctor appointment, encountering Kerry on the way. At my eye doctor appointment I received new multifocal contact lenses that immediately seemed to work better than other multifocal lenses I have tried in the past. I returned to the Pilsner to retrieve Patrick, saying goodbye to Kerry. Patrick and I walked to the Castro, stopping at Rolo on Market where we bought camoflauge shorts for both of us because we liked the way they fit (but mine will still need some alteration). We dined at Poesia: happy hour appetizers and drinks: rustico, polpette, sbagliato, diablo. One roast chicken entree to share. Dessert: one tiramisu to share. Patrick also had an espresso. $71.61 before a $13 tip. Afterwards we stopped at several bars in the Castro before staying at Toad Hall where we had one round of cucumber-lime vodka cocktails. Rode UberX home. Today I contacted Apple Support about the H key on my iPad Pro Magic Keyboard not working. I was unable to reproduce the problem with it, so I might upgrade this year to a new iPad and sell this one.

Sun Aug 12, 2018

Slept in. Rode UberX to Paul's for brunch with a subset of The Group With No Name: Phil, Drew, Danny, Romy, Wayne, Paul. After a while Irene joined us, and we also met her friend Cynthia. Due to a miscommunication about the start time I arrived 30 minutes early, so I helped Paul prepare bread, cheese, and avocados for the brunch. We had avocado toast with nibbles: fresh fig, fresh blueberries, gouda cheese, and more. The entree was cheddar mushroom omelettes. Afterwards Wayne took off, then I rode with PDDR to Discount Builders Supply and Hardware where Phil needed to buy something. They dropped me at Market Street, and I walked a bit to the bus stop to ride the L bus home due to the tunnel construction closure. Snack: some generic Wheat Thins, water. Nap. Dinner at home with Patrick: tacos with fixins. Purchased more bags from Peak Design. Completed playing Agent A chapter 4 with a little help from a walkthrough found on the web.

Rick is leaving us in a month to move to Vancouver, B.C. Late lunch to go from Panda Express, ate in front of Kalmanovitz Library. Panda Bowl with chow mein and mushroom chicken. My fortune: Avoid unchallenging occupations—they waste your talents. Spent the rest of the day working from the library. Rode Uber Pool to the Mission. Met Patrick at Alamo Drafthouse for dinner and the opening night showing of Crazy Rich Asians. We had purchased our tickets a bit late and were stuck with seats in the fourth row at the far left of theatre 1. Not the best angle or sound, but we survived. I think due to the angle I had trouble hearing some words clearly. Despite these issues, we thoroughly enjoyed the film. Alamo Drafthouse had a special menu for the showing. I had an orchard road cocktail. Patrick had a singapore sling. We ordered chicken satay, dumplings, mahjong cookies, popcorn. For some strange reason we failed to receive the dumplings and the popcorn which were comped in the end. $48.28 after an $8 tip. (We didn't know what to tip because we didn't know who was at fault.) Our server was Camila.

Fri Aug 17, 2018

Breakfast at home with Patrick: vegetarian sausage, scrambled eggs, half english muffin with butter, 8 ounces of orange juice. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Laurel Heights. On the way the bus driver had to stop suddenly. I was sitting near the front in a seat that faced the aisle. I was thrown quite forcefully toward the front of the bus, which meant I ended up on my side but still on the seat. No one was hurt. I did not see why the sudden stop occurred. The driver asked if people were okay and everyone seemed fine. Sprint standup. Spent the day initiating work on the microsites identity retheme project and following up on the CPT migration project, orgchart revisions, and the bridge funding migration and edits. Shopped at Britex for reupholstery fabric for our 2000 Restoration Hardware Picasso chair whose seat cushion has been coming undone from use over the past few years. Patrick stopped to run an errand. We continued on foot to Urban Eyes where I ordered multifocal contact lenses; the ones I was given to try have been working fine. Three pairs of monthly lenses costs $85, and I had $50 credit remaining on my VSP insurance plan. Rode UberX home with Patrick. Removed some of the stuffing from my adjustable pillow from Nest EasyBreather Side Sleeper in an attempt to resolve constant neck and shoulder ache that seems to have developed over the past few months. Vacuumed the small bedroom. The internet stopped working. I did some troubleshooting and restarted our router and that seemed to fix it, though I think there were overlapping problems. Rode UberX with Patrick to Noe Valley. Dinner at Lupa Trattoria: nebbiolo for Patrick, water for me. We shared scamorza ai funghi (melted smoked mozzarella with mix sauteed mushrooms) and an order of ravioli alla modenese (homemade ravioli filled with ricotta cheese and spinach with fried garlic chips in a brown butter and sage sauce). Dessert: three flavors of gelato: chocolate, salted caramel, pistachio. $60.22 before a $12 tip. Rode UberX to Church Street near 29th, visited Stephen G. Met Richard and Theydon. Theydon, a young puppy, is brand new to the household, handsome, and super chill. He and Patrick got along great. With me he was neutral most of the time but with some low growling and one loud bark near the end. We parted on good terms, though. Richard left partway through our visit to attend a dance party. We all talked about dance parties, vodka, wine, dogs, childhood pets, Twin Peaks, Doctor Who, YouTube, nightclubs, Atlantis cruises, Thailand villas, recent vacations, Broadway shows, reality television, books, libraries, and more. Patrick and I drank a chilled wine we had brought; Stephen drank from the in-house selection. We had a great time visiting. Rode UberX home. Recently Notational Velocity stopped updating yet I can still successfully log in to simplenote.com with the same credentials. I found a Github issue queue where someone else reported the same problem, so I added a comment to that report. Hopefully the problem will be resolved soon.

We walked to 30th and Church Streets. Pomelo was closed (on a Friday night?!). We ended up at Regent Thai (1700 Church Street), dining family-style: Thai fresh egg rolls (rice paper rolls stuffed with pork, egg, tofu and cucumber, topped with crab meat served with sweet and sour tamarind sauce), tod mun (deep-fried fish cakes and green beans served with cucumber salad and ground peanuts), panaeng gung (shrimp with panaeng curry, coconut milk, mushrooms, zucchini, carrots, bell pepper and sweet basil), moo yang (marinated pork served with sweet and sour sauce), tofu pad se-eiw (stir-fried wide noodles with soy sauce, broccoli, egg), brown rice, white rice, hot tea for Patrick and Frank, and we also shared a bottle of red wine. Fri Aug 31, 2018

New Orleans Southern Decadence 2018 vacation begins, day 1 of 8. This is my third year in a row and Patrick's second year in a row going to Southern Decadence. Sam took Patrick and me to SFO for a 10:35 am Alaska Airlines flight to New Orleans. We breakfasted at Napa Farms Market on a shared hot ham, egg, and cheese sandwich, Pop Chai Spice Almond Milk for Patrick, Hint cucumber for me. We met Chris G and Andy T at the gate. The Alaska Airlines flight turned out to be a Virgin America plane since Alaska recently completed a buyout of Virgin. On the flight we met and chatted at length with the woman in the window seat. Her name is Alissa and we were charmed and humored by her dry wit, honesty, and interesting personality. We talked about television, cooking, food, Chopped, children, little homes, cohabitating with others, speaking accents, neighbors and noise, Millennials, and more. We gave her our email addresses and hope that she contacts us. For a meal we ordered for Patrick a protein pack with hummus and pita and for me a turkey artichoke baguette with avocado aioli. We realized how funny it is that free alcoholic beverages are provided to the people who sit in the exit row and must assist during an emergency. For part of the flight I watched and enjoyed again the end of Blade Runner: 2049 and the start of Gravity. Andy offered to get the Lyft XL ride into town because Lyft offered him $10 off his next 10 rides. We are staying at a Sonder located in Faubourg Marigny. Chris had told us that Sonder is like Airbnb but curated. Remi and Jesse had arrived earlier and we met them at the Sonder location. Walked to dinner at Effervescence (1036 N. Rampart Street) with Patrick, Chris, and Andy. We shared West Indies crab salad, snapper aji amarillo ceviche, fried softshell crab, avocado lettuce cups, and grilled levain toast. Drinks: You Put The Wine In The Coconut for Frank, Laissez Day for Andy, Provencal Bubble Bath each for Patrick and Chris. Late at night I happened to wake around 3:00 am and enjoyed hearing a passing rainstorm begin and end.
