Vacation day with Chris D. For both Chris and me I prepared Kona coffee with milk, a cheddar omelette with parsley, english muffin with butter, grapes, sliced nectarine. I also had 8 ounces of orange juice. Patrick stopped by briefly for a nap before going out again for day tasks. Chris and I bought discount tickets to Walt Disney Family Museum via Goldstar. We rode an unusually long Uber Pool ride downtown. The ride took an hour. We had two additional riders, one before we entered and another after the first rider alighted. The second rider had trouble finding the car because construction at the pickup location prevented the driver from stopping at the assigned corner, and the same construction also limited visibility for the rider to spot us. We weren't in a hurry. Chris and I alighted and walked a short distance to Autodesk Gallery where we spent about an hour or so browsing all the interesting exhibits. Afterwards we visited the Ferry Building Marketplace and decided on a light bite from El PorteƱo: empanadas, two each. Mine: shrimp and veggie. We walked to California and Drumm and rode a rather large PresidiGo bus for free to the Presidio. The ride took about 30 minutes and was relatively pleasant. We alighted and walked about four minutes to the Walt Disney Family Museum. With tickets from Goldstar the $25 admission price was instead $15 each. For Goldstar tickets you still need to stand in line to get printed tickets from the ticket desk. (For some other ticket vendors you can skip the line.) This was my second visit to WDFM. I loved it again. The downstairs exhibit featured Glen Keane, whom we learned is the son of Bil Keane of The Family Circus fame. Glen Keane is known for his masterful work on Disney films The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Tarzan, and Tangled. The exhibition is called Make Believe: The World of Glen Keane and runs March 8 to September 3, 2018. I bought a Hint cherry from the museum cafe and introduced Chris to it. We also browsed in the store and I bought a $30 t-shirt with a mostly faithful reproduction of the E ticket on the front (no watermark though). We had spent four hours at the museum. At 6 pm we rode UberX to Chow on Church to meet Patrick for dinner. Drinks: hard apple cider for Chris, (water)melon refresher for Patrick, lazy river for me. Entrees: Patrick and Chris each had a large thai chicken salad. I had a medium prawn salad. Total before tip: $74.08.
