Sun Jun 2, 2019
Breakfast at home: Patrick and I prepared breakfast burritos with orange juice. Finished updating all software on all home computers and home websites. The red beans turned out too spicy for me, so I had farfalle with leftover marinara with lacinato kale and a side of corn off the cob. Wed Jun 5, 2019
Breakfast: an apple. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Laurel Heights. Siteimprove work. Sprint standup. Several pages in our website were unresponsive or serving errors. Eric and James worked with Eric G to resolve it; an update by someone outside of our SOP team broke field collections in specific cases. More Siteimprove work. Received an unsolicited phone call from 650-488-8585 claiming to be from the Social Security Administration which I presume to be a spammer or scammer since this phone number does not appear on any legitimate website for the SSA. Walked to the Richmond for lunch at Le Soleil (415-668-4848, 133 Clement Street): lemongrass beef lunch special with not-spicy nuoc mam, thai iced tea. Food and drink were both pretty perfect. Super-tender beef, crispy imperial rolls, served suitably hot. I wish only that the beef was sliced into smaller pieces; when they are long strips it's significantly more work to distribute portions of beef across other bites during the meal, especially with no knife. $24.12 after a $3.50 tip. From my receipt, my server's name was Admin. Service can be a bit slow here; it seemed like there was only one or two servers for the entire restaurant. Committed a styling fix to resolve a problem following backend resolution of this morning's outage of some of our pages. Walked and rode Muni to dinner with Patrick at Revelry Bistro (415-241-6833, 297 Page Street). Sparkling water to share. Bread and butter for the table. Patrick had the early bird three-course prix fixe ($42) and chose carrot-ginger soup, salmon with asparagus and mashed potatoes, and creme brulee. I had the early bird two-course prix fixe ($34) and chose carrot-ginger soup and potato gnocchi with diced zucchini and sliced mushrooms. We enjoyed the meal. Patrick wished he had less or skinnier asparagus. Service was very good. Walked to New Conservatory Theatre Center for a production of the off-Broadway musical The View Upstairs by Max Vernon and directed by Ed Decker. Rode UberX home.

Patrick and I had planned to dine in the Castro tonight, but I was too exhausted. Instead we ordered delivery from Jika Ramen via Uber Eats: large, filtered cold sake; wonton and soya sauce chicken ramen; three amigos roll; red dragon roll. $59.91 before a $6 tip. The 6:02 pm order arrived within about 30 minutes, and we were happy with all our food. Afterwards we played Let's Talk About Sex. To bed early.
Sat Jun 8, 2019
Woke around midnight. Washed dishes, tidied. Attempted to resolve a problem with Epson printer software (drivers) "event manager is not optimized…" but it seems Epson has no more current software available. Migrated a copy of my uBlock Origin settings from my MacBook Pro to my account on Patrick's MacBook Pro. Migrated a copy of my BetterTouchTool settings from my MacBook Pro to my account on Patrick's MacBook Pro. The process took about 30 minutes and was not simple. There's an experimental sync feature, but it looked like it might mess things up, so I didn't try it. When it's considered stable I'll use it. More software setup on Patrick's computer. Breakfast at home with Patrick: sesame bagel, toasted, with cream cheese, 8 ounces of orange juice. Patrick made masa shortbread cookies. Cut my hair, showered. Walked and rode Muni to the Castro. Picked up new contact lenses. Bought a thai iced tea to go from Castro Tarts. Walked to Dolores Park and sat on a bench in the shade for a while. We ordered at 5:23 pm, and it was delivered in about 30 minutes but one order of sweet and sour chicken and two orders of steamed rice were missing. Since we had guests we had no choice but to reorder the missing items and wait another 30 minutes. Service by Magaly was very good when we saw her. She disappeared for long stretches at times. The restaurant was very busy, and it seemed like there weren't enough waitstaff, so to me this is probably more of a management issue. Food and drink were excellent.

Sun Jun 30, 2019
Pride Sunday. Patrick wore his Elmo t-shirt (this might tickle) and jeans. I wore my (80s?) rainbow Apple logo t-shirt and the beige Uniqlo stretch jeans I acquired in Tokyo on January 1, 2011 and my mirror vinyl sneakers. On my back I wore a sheet of paper with a rainbow flag and the words CELEBRATE EVERY INCH which I had created in Adobe Illustrator and affixed to the t-shirt with painter's tape. We walked and rode Muni to Montgomery Street Station, then watched the pride parade for a while somewhat near the television cameras. This year is the 50th anniversary of Stonewall. Hot dog carts were everywhere. It turned out to be the coldest and windiest Pride Sunday ever, and we didn't bring jackets because we didn't want the extra weight, presuming it would be warmer than where we lived in the Sunset. This year would have been good to wear a rainbow-colored onesie or two. We saw Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom in the parade. After a while we walked toward Embarcadero and then back. The parade seemed to have stopped. We didn't know at the time, but some protesters had halted the parade on the basis of (I think?) police violence, particularly against trans people. We saw a Tesla semi parked in what seemed to be a parade staging area. We got stuck in a tight squeeze of people trying to pass at the corner of 4th and Market but otherwise the sidewalks were pretty easily traversed. We left Market Street toward SoMa then walked Folsom to 11th to the Streat Food Park because Patrick had never been and wanted to go. It seemed as though only a handful of the trucks were open. Maybe many were working the Pride festival? We first got fried chicken at Kokio Republic, then empanadas at (I think) Nucha Empanadas, then drinks at a truck that I think did only drinks. Thai iced tea for me, milk tea for Patrick. There were very few other patrons eating, so it only took about 15 or 20 minutes. Kokio's fried chicken with honey mustard sauce I thought was perfect. Patrick thought the chicken was excellent and wanted a bit more mustard flavor in the sauce. The chicken came with a complimentary small piece of frittered greens of some kind which were also tasty. Excellent crunch to the crust and very juicy within. Our two empanadas were one with grilled bell peppers served at room temperature and another of pecan pie served hot. We both liked both empanadas. The drinks were good, mine not overly sweet. Afterwards we walked to the Pride festival. We attempted to enter at Polk and Hayes, but discouraged by the long line, we walked west to Van Ness Avenue then north to Dr Tom Waddell Place where there was another security checkpoint, and we were able to enter the festival with almost no line at all. I carried my five-liter Peak Design Everyday Sling 5L bag, and this size of bag still required a search, but it took only a few minutes. We were amazed at our fine discovery which probably saved us 45 to 60 minutes of waiting in line. We walked the festival grounds for some time. Walked and rode Muni to the Castro. Walked in the Castro despite the cold, or perhaps in an attempt to generate body heat from the activity. Early dinner at Canela. We shared four small plates: two cow's milk cheeses (urgelia and san simon) with accompaniments and bread, ham and cheese croquettes, grilled red pepper (piquillo, not spicy), and gambas pimenton. Root beer for Patrick, plain water for both of us. Dessert: chocolate almond cake. All food and drink was excellent. $72.15 before a $14 tip. Rode UberX home. Rested. Browsed Twitter for today's happenings. Watched with Patrick Green Room DVD extras on Netflix DVD, I Think You Should Leave s1:e5 on Netflix instant watch, and part of Ricky Gervais: Humanity on Netflix instant watch. Nail care. Resolved a water blister on my foot that I had gotten today from walking over 18,000 steps, then used the shoe stretcher on the shoe for a long-term solution. Patrick had had 12 events planned for us this Pride weekend. We did only 5 of them. Late snack: a banana.
