Dinner with Aaron and Patrick at Luna Park. Aaron had the white bean and duck confit cassoulet and for dessert apple and huckleberry cobbler. Patrick had pork cutlet with mashed potatoes, green beans, and cranberry; for dessert, bourbon pecan chocolate tart with mint ice cream. Frank had the Pot on Fire, and for dessert coconut cream pie.

Went to Alice Radio's job fair party. Bob X. Cringely predicted that in 2006 people will be able to buy US$15 laptops and everyone would have a computer. Dinner with Tina, Daniel, and Patrick at Hawthorne Lane. Tina and Daniel stay the night.

Spent the day with Tina and Daniel and Patrick: Breakfast at home with pastries from Ambrosia. Photo shooting at the Sutro Baths ruins and the Palace of the Legion of Fine Arts. Shopping at Stonestown. Lunch at Chevy's. Napping in the afternoon.

Oatmeal for breakfast. I read Patrick's first draft of "Blackout." Picked up housewarming photos at Wolf. Coffee and tea at Just Desserts on Church. Patrick read from Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I read from MySQL by Paul DuBois. Vegetable stir-fry with spaghettini at home for dinner.

I cut my hair and did plenty of laundry today. Worked on XHTML. Talked to Victor and Chris online. Cleaned. Leftover pizza for lunch. Sesame noodle salad for dinner. Victor bought me On Writing Well by William Zinsser—it came in the mail today. Thanks, Victor!

The blue computer died today while I was moving a partition with PartitionMagic 5.0. It just hung up in the middle of the move—there was nothing I could do. It took me about 8 hours, but I restored from a month-old backup. Patrick suggests dinner at Jitra to make me feel better. After some boneless duck and our favorite yellow curry chicken, I find he's right about that. Patrick starts painting The Pear God.

Patrick and I try to find the buffalo at Golden Gate Park, but we are unsuccessful because we didn't look up the buffalo pen's location before leaving. Instead, we have lunch at 49 Cafe and visit the San Francisco Zoo. It's a fun time. We saw a white peacock, an albino wallaroo, some coyote, orangutangs, koala, lots of bugs, gorillas, and more. Broccoli stir-fry with jasmine rice for dinner at home.

Patrick and I go to Madonna night at Trannyshack, a popular drag show. It's also Patrick's first time to the Stud. We see a performer do "20 Years of Madonna in 7 Minutes"—quick-changing and lip-synching through a montage of past Madonna personas.

Today I ran errands at the drug store, applied for two jobs, implemented a more secure backup process than I had previously, recoded some web pages to be more accessible, and edited the photos Patrick and I took on the day of our housewarming.

Today I did house chores, called Speakeasy to get another IP address and find out why I only get 410 Kbps downloads when they promised me 608, read Patrick's first completed version of "Blackout," and returned the DVD. Patrick makes a great seafood risotto for dinner. I accidentally meet Sam. His first words to me are: "I am here to pick up my tiger." I put in the descriptions for the housewarming photos.
