Toe procedure recovery. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and toasted almonds, blueberries; hot water. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Helped Marley with a problem with our logo appearing too large in certain contexts in Smartsheets. I resized it to 300 pixels wide and asked her to try that. New year greeting organization and prep. UCSF town hall while eating lunch: leftovers from Pacific Catch. Met with Alaina P and Christina M from SCM about purchasing processes. Encountered Bernard in the hallway and chatted about the weekend. Walked and rode Muni home. It took an hour because I missed my connecting bus by one minute and had to wait 20 minutes. Walked and rode Muni with Patrick to Galinette (415-463-6250, 3560 Taraval Street), a new French beach bistro not far from our neighborhood. Still tap water. Wine: Patrick had a glass of Cru Godard; I had a glass of Moulin de Gassac Guihelm. We shared appetizers: salad and the daily special soup—cream of carrot with truffle oil. Mains: Patrick had bourride, which is a fish stew with aioli, also known as the troubled half-sister of bouillabaisse; I had steak frites, medium. No dessert—too full. The salad was surprisingly large for the $4 price. The soup was smooth and delicious. My steak was cooked perfectly to the ordered temperature and was topped with onions that I'm guessing were softened in a red wine reduction. Patrick's bourride included a delighful assortment of seafood in a delicious broth. When we arrived there were only a few tables seated. We were sat at a communal table and enjoyed the occasional chitchat that occurs with neighbors. The restaurant filled to capacity over the course of our meal, and a line was visible outside the large windows. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and service by Aurelie B was excellent. $109.71 before a $20 tip. Afterwards we enjoyed cocktails at White Cap: Patrick had a Maple Hammer. I had a World's Fair. My drink was garnished with two strips of snack seaweed, and flavorwise I found it incongruent with the rest of the drink, but visually it's a nice touch. We sat at the bar. Our drinks were delicious, and we enjoyed the visit. Walked and rode Muni home. We watched The Bear s3:e4 on Hulu.
