Dinner at home with Patrick: delivery from Park Gyros via our first time using UberEATS with a $10 discount that essentially took care of the taxes and delivery fee. Watched Hardcore Henry (2015) on Netflix DVD with Patrick. Fast-paced, exhilirating, violent, gross, hilarious, and surprising. While watching I often found myself wondering how they did that stunt or how did they get the money to do all this. Read and edited part of chapter 5 of 41 of Patrick's forthcoming novel.

Breakfast: one red delicious apple. Upgraded MAMP PRO to 4.0.5. Recharge Medical work. Second breakfast: one chocolate croissant, instant espresso with almond torani. Recharge Medical work. Lunch at home with Patrick: Green Chef shrimp coconut tom kha with broccoli, rice, herbs, green curry, carrots. Edited a Scotch Shrunk v-neck t-shirt (turquoise with beach print) to fit me better. It took a long time because I encountered mistakes in thread tension I didn't know how to prevent. Even my test runs on scrap fabric worked when the non-test runs failed. I'm now doing t-shirt sewing with the thread tension setting no higher than 2 and as low as 0 and pausing to check frequently how the last few seconds of stitching went. Rode Muni to the Castro. Dinner at Harvey's with Quyen, Dave, Peter, Wayne, Phil, Drew, Romy, Danny. I had pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Afterwards we attended Jinkx Monsoon and Peaches Christ in Drag Parody Return to Grey Gardens at the Castro Theatre. This was an stage performance which included several musical numbers with guest appearances by Lady Bear and Mink Stole. The song performance I liked best was All That Jazz. The theatre was essentially sold out, and the crowd loved the show and cheered and applauded at the end most especially for Jinkx Monsoon and Mink Stole. Afterwards Phil, Danny, and Dave returned to Shotwell House, and the rest of us barhopped: 440, Toad Hall, Midnight Sun. They left, and I got a late meal by myself at Gyro Xpress: chicken kebab plate with rice, salad, pita, and yogurt sauce. I lost a pair of reading glasses this evening somewhere between Harvey's and Castro Theatre. I retraced my steps and asked at both places but did not find them. Rode Uber Pool home late.

Sat Oct 15, 2016
Breakfast: egg on english muffin, 8 ounces of carrot juice. Rode Uber Pool to SFO. Virgin America flight from SFO to PVR (Puerto Vallarta). Breakfast at Plant Store #71 inside Terminal 2: latte, granola with fruit cup: $14.18. At the airport and on the plane I watched via downloaded Amazon Video Now You See Me 2 (a 99-cent rental), Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel, and most of Jim Jeffries' I Swear to God. Danny arranged for us a transfer to the AirBnb. We rode to Old Puerto Vallarta. Jonny checked us in and gave us a tour of the condo unit, rooftop pool, and gym. Jonny departed. Internet was frightfully slow: 0.11 Mbps down, 0.14 Mbps up. We walked to dinner at Joe Jack's Fish Shack (322-222-2099, Basilio Badillo 212, Colonia E Zapata), catching views of the sunset between the buildings along the way. Dinner with Danny, Drew, and Phil: passionfruit margaritas and a mojito, portobello quesadilla, ceviche sampler, tortilla chips. Phil and Danny shared the whole red snapper. Drew had mahi mahi. I had breaded fish tacos. All dishes were very fresh, and the service was excellent. For dessert we shared butterscotch pudding. On the way home we encountered a street market selling only food—perhaps we'll return another night. We stopped at Oxxo for some items then returned home. I showered, then we all visited the roof for a late night swim. The hot tub was very strong but not very hot. Afterwards we returned to the room. Drew and I watched via downloaded Amazon Video The New Yorker Presents s1:e1 and Woody Allen's Crisis in Six Scenes and the last eleven minutes of Jim Jeffries' I Swear to God. To bed.
Sun Oct 16, 2016
Danny brought a blueberry muffin and two coffees back to our room from a nearby cafe called The Coffee Cup. We walked about town northward to Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe and then a little further before stopping for weak $1 margaritas at a restaurant and bar along the beach walk. Walked home, rested, showered. We lounged at the rooftop pool for a few hours. Showered. Drinks at the downstairs bar at Joe Jack's Fish Shack. Early dinner at Cafe de Ollo with Danny, Drew, and Phil. Danny and Phil shared the lobster and fish special. I had combination fajitas. On the way home we encountered a friendly local named Jerry who made us laugh with his quick wit, local's advice, and likable personality. He invited us to some activities for tomorrow, but after we arrived home and did more research, we realized it was for a timeshare and canceled by voicemail and email. I went to bed. Phil and Drew wandered out late and encountered a sea turtle laying eggs.
Mon Oct 17, 2016
Breakfast at home: coffee and pastries. After some effort, we successfully avoided Jerry from last night. We wandered south, encountering Blue Chairs and Mantamar, where Danny and I walked along the beach for a bit. We encountered and took an impromptu tour of Villas Enrique at Malecon 159. The property is exquisite and luxurious and essentially perfectly designed. It is surrounded by construction that looks like it has been continuing for years and will not end. Lunch at La Palapa Restaurant and Lounge with Danny, Drew, and Phil. We sat on the beach with large fans keeping us cool. Vendors passed, frequently trying to sell us goods or services. We ordered drinks: limonadas for Danny and me, Mexican coffee for Drew, cranberry and something margarita for Phil. Bottled water for all. Appetizer to share: coconut shrimp. Complimentary pastries, plantain chips, sweet potato chips, and a variety of salsas. Entrees: Danny had eaten noodles before we left, so he was not hungry for an entree. Phil had a grilled tuna sandwich. Drew had a vegetarian sandwich. I had seafood enchiladas. Too full for dessert. Food and service was very good. Bees and flies were noticeably friendly. About $65 USD before a 20% tip. We walked around town again. On the way home the others stopped to receive massages. I caught up on journaling then went to the rooftop pool to swim and lounge. Nap. We walked along the beach and water, watching lightning play along the horizon. Dinner at Trio, which was recommended by many of Danny's friends. Drinks: cabernet for Phil, Cotes du Rhone for me. No dessert; too full. We walked around and got refreshments at Yogalicious, then barhopped at La Cueva and Blondie's. At La Cueva Danny met some locals who invited us to dine at this bar and restaurant tomorrow evening. Blondie's was dead except for some European-looking men who arrived about when we had decided to leave. Drew and Danny chatted with them a bit before we all returned home.
Tue Oct 18, 2016
Breakfast at home: coffee and pastries. Phil and Danny ate other leftover food that Danny had cooked earlier. Green Chairs, aka Ritmos. Snacks and drinks on the beach. Vendors selling goods and services. We stayed for several hours. Back to D'Terrace to rest and freshen. We rode a short funicular then visited a resort that had rooms for rent or purchase; the others are mildly interested in renting or buying in the future. The resort room we visited was spacious but each room seemed too cramped with furniture. Nap. Drinks and snacks at Joe Jack's Fish Shack. Bought snacks at a small grocery. Returned to D'Terrace and lounged in the pool for a few hours. Shower. We walked to La Cueva where we thought we were going to have dinner but our dinner date was a no-show. We rode a taxi to Vista Grill. Dinner at Vista Grill. Appetizers: we shared the short rib potstickers (mezcal sauce, morita pepper, chives) and seared tuna (roasted garlic vinaigrete, avocado sauce). Entrees: Danny had the fried octopus appetizer. Phil had the citrus tuna. Drew had the catch of the day. I had shrimp filled with local blue crab (small) (wrapped in bacon, rice with poblano pepper and mushrooms, queso fresco, tomatillo and guava compote, watercress salad). For dessert we shared and enjoyed the dessert sampler. Nearby tables had ordered the flaming mexican coffee, which was an exciting tableside show. We rode a taxi down the hill to Olas Altas. Walked to Los Amigos—closed. Drinks at La Margarita bar. Stopped briefly at C.C. Slaughter's which was empty. I asked in Spanish when everyone would arrive and was told cerca once. We were all too tired to wait until then, so we returned to D'Terrace for bed.
Wed Oct 19, 2016
Brunch at Diablos Fusion Gourmet. Complimentary bread, butter, and jam for the table. Danny ordered from the dinner menu: chicken fettuccine. Drew had eggs florentine. Phil had ?. I had a banana smoothie (no alcohol) and norteño burritos (two small flour tortillas filled with machaca and eggs, side of hash browns). Danny and I returned to the room. Phil and Drew explored a bit southward but returned to the room not long afterwards. Phil, Drew, and I rested by the rooftop pool; Danny did the same in the room. We rode a taxi to the airport. We dined at Bubba Gumps; I think it was my first visit to this restaurant. On the flight I watched Palo Alto, which I liked and thought it was the best thing I watched on this trip. Rode UberX home. On this trip I found that I don't like hash browns in Puerto Vallarta; they were served at two different restaurants both with too much butter or oil in them. It must just be the way it is served in Puerto Vallarta or Mexico.

Worked 1-on-1 with Eric on a few issues including taxo synonyms and tweaking gatling rsync for vagrant to have a little more latency so that it doesn't fire twice for a single stylesheet change (once for the sass file then again after CodeKit compiles it to css). Bought eggs at Bryan's using Apple Pay. UCSF shuttle from Laurel Heights to Parnassus. Rode Muni home. Dinner at home with Patrick: spiced pork burgers with pickled beets and cone cabbage slaw; red wine. Watched a few movie trailers with Patrick. Recharge Medical work: November news build. New MacBook Pros were announced by Apple today, and I am so disappointed and frustrated. I need a new laptop for web development, so I want a reasonably powerful laptop in the lightest weight possible. All of these late 2016 MacBook Pro laptops are bested in performance (Geekbench 4) by some MacBook Pros from mid-2014 and mid-2015. Even a top-of-the-line MacBook Pro from late 2013 has better performance than nearly all of these new model configurations. Macbooks (the ones introduced in 2015) are very light but horrendously underpowered.
Fri Oct 28, 2016

Walked to OMG for Club Lonely, met Jessica (who was a worker there but not working tonight), had a few drinks and danced for a while before riding Lyft home.

Recharge Medical work: November news build, forms. Snack: cheese and crackers, water. Achieved inbox zero at home. Read and edited chapter 13 of 41 of Patrick's forthcoming novel. Shower. Rode UberX to Shotwell House. Appetizers at the house before dinner at Southpaw with Danny, Drew, Romy, Phil, Quyen, Dave, Richard, Wayne, Peter, and Paul: we had drinks and shared several platters. Paul left early for the Castro. The rest of us returned to the house for dessert. After dessert, Danny, Phil, and Dave remained home while the rest of us walked to the Castro, stopping at Twin Peaks for drinks for nearly an hour watching costumed partygoers parade past the large windows. I met Micah and Jerry. Later the Shotwell House gang returned home, then I met or encountered Conrad, Sean, Jeffrey, Jake, Chris, and Jeffrey's boo whose name I asked twice before immediately forgetting while I had Simplenote open. Later I encountered outside of Badlands Michael I (whom I first met), Ray, Scott, Andy, Alan, Mitchell, Emery. I met RP, Mitchell, Junman, MarLo, Jericho, and Yuya. We tried visiting Midnight Sun, but just past 1:30 am they had already called last call and were not permitting anyone new to enter. We then got the idea to make a stop at the liquor store and to take the party to Scandy's. The liquor store was closed, so we made do with what Scandy had in their bar (which was hardly lean anyway). Chatted until late. Alan gave me, Ray, Michael, and Mitchell a ride home—so nice. A filling evening.
