For dinner tonight we decided to try a food delivery service called SpoonRocket. I ordered from my iPhone while riding the bus home. I placed the order then started my stopwatch. I received alerts that the food would be delivered in 15 to 25 minutes. A few minutes later, I received a phone call with an automated message saying that the driver was approaching. I switched to the SpoonRocket app and watched the live map of the driver's approach. He or she was only a few blocks from home. I was still a few minutes before arriving at home, so I texted Patrick at home to meet the driver. I checked the stopwatch; only four minutes had passed. Patrick met the driver and received the food. I arrived home. The all-paper, compostable containers were warm but not hot, so we stuck them in the microwave for a minute or so. Patrick had 100% organic roasted chicken breast [dairy free, low fat, gluten free; Healthy organic seared and roasted chicken breast with a medley of organic vegetables, organic yukon roasted potatoes and organic herbed cumin chicken jus. (~463 cal)] for $11.95, and I had Korean-style mixed plate [with BBQ chicken, beef gyoza, vermicelli vegetable noodles, and broccoli. (contains gluten, egg, soy, sesame oil) (~800 cal)] for $9.50. After tax, a 15% tip specified during order, delivery fee, and discounts due to promotional offers, the total was $20.36. The food was surprisingly delicious and the meal quality was surprisingly high for delivery in under five minutes. All food flavors were excellent. All food textures were excellent except for the gyoza which was good but forgivably not perfect. All food colors were excellent except for the vegetables which were forgivably a little less vibrant than expected. We used the recyclable utensils that SpoonRocket included, so we had no dishes to wash. Following the meal I found that my email receipt requested feedback, and providing that feedback was fast and simple. We loved it with minor concerns and kept wondering how they did it. Submitted this as my first Yelp review. Dessert: we split a chocolate mint cookie from Arizmendi Bakery and drank hot milk, mine with Kahlua.

Breakfast at home: egg, vegan sausage patty, and cheddar on english muffin, 8 ounces of orange juice. Edited Patrick's forthcoming novel: chapter 6. Snack with Patrick: warm chocolate cookie each with whipped cream from a can for dipping. Nap. Dinner with Patrick at home: salad. Nap. Patrick and I rode Lyft to his mom's so that he could help her with a sleep study kit. I continued to The Oasis to meet Troy M. This was the official afterparty for Whatever Happened to Bianca del Rio starring Bianca del Rio and Peaches Christ which played tonight at Castro Theatre, which I did not attend. The night is called Mother, hosted tonight (I think) by Heklina and special guest Danny Pintauro, who was charming. Music by MC2 was mostly dance floor favorites of mostly the past decade. Songs ran on the short side (which I like), and mixing was forgivably imperfect. I asked one of the bartenders who was spinning, and when he said it it ran altogether in my head as Emseetwo so I asked him to spell it and he said M-C-2 and we both laughed. Visuals by Vis-a-Vis were fun: Little House on the Prarie, old horror films involving possessed children, some dance contest in the 1980s, old television from the 1970s. I met Troy's friends Travis, Ryan, and Casey. A fun drag show took place, with some of the performances impressively live instead of lipsynched. Danny Pintauro was the night's special guest who took the stage for a while and made us laugh and think. We danced until the bar closed. I got a bite to eat by myself at V Cafe: fried shrimp po-boy, which was good and the staff seemed friendly. I had forgotten my jacket in the club and ran back to get it just in time. Staff at The Oasis was friendly. Ordered a Lyft Line ride home but canceled when I saw the driver heading east across the Bay Bridge. WTF? Rode UberPool home. My first time with two other stops instead of just one. The two other stops were very close to my stop, so Lyft made about $45 with one trip. The interesting thing is that after picking up the second solo passenger, Lyft found another solo passenger and changed the route. It added maybe 8 minutes to my ride; not a big deal.

Rode Muni to the Castro. Met Danny who brought with him niece Holly whom I met for the first time. We brunched with dim sum at Mama Ji's (4416 18th Street, 415-626-4416): black tea, shanghai dumplings, cilantro shrimp dumpling, sweet rice lotus leaf, bbq pork rice roll, shrimp rice roll, shrimp stuffed mushrooms, shrimp stuffed eggplant, seared pumpkin cake (with black bean paste filling), spicy cold noodles. $74.77 before tip. I didn't realize until later that the tea is a huge ripoff. I don't care if it's gourmet tea. It doesn't cost $9 for three single servings of tea, especially when many other dim sum restaurants will serve you tea for free. Service by Tina was good in the beginning and then she seemed to disappear for the second half of our meal. We spent a long time trying to get our check. I still tipped well, though. In retrospect I don't know why. We walked the Castro Street Fair. I encountered and said hello to John S and met his friend whose name started with A. I encountered JY who was in town and met his friend Ron. I encountered Eric S and we chatted for a moment. I took lots of photos all day. I encountered Scott and Andy and we met others we knew at Swirl: Tim C, Ben D, Kevin B. I chatted briefly with some guys from San Diego but did not get their names. I dined at Eureka with Scott, Andy, and Tim. Cocktails: everyone had a Manhattan except me; I had a gingertini. Tim had fried chx with fries, Scott had fried chx with beans, Andy had gumbo with shrimp, I had pot roast with mashed potatoes and green beans. For dessert we shared an order of bread pudding. We talked about Qualcomm Eudora, the lending of screwdrivers, friends we know, WTFW, Apple bus etiquette and more. In the restaurant I met a man named Robert who was dining with a large group at an adjacent table.

I ordered rigatoni with roasted tomato cream sauce [nuts, vegetarian; rigatoni with roasted tomato cream sauce, basil, kale, toasted walnuts, sweet corn, mushrooms, and parmesan. (~650 cal)] for $7.95. Same as before, warm but not hot, microwave for a minute or so, both meals surprisingly delicious and surprisingly high quality for crazy-fast delivery.
