Rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Breakfast at Palio: scrambled eggs, potatoes, bagel with cream cheese. When I ordered I was told potatoes weren't available and would I like to substitute a bagel? I said yes. When my food was delivered, it had potatoes. There always seems to be something not exactly right with the service at Palio, but I usually don't care. I also had a cup of coffee. They do not offer free refills, which seems silly because their ceramic cups barely hold 8 ounces. UCSF shuttle from Parnassus to Laurel Heights. All-day webedit workshop hosted by Eric. For lunch a bunch of us ate at The View Cafe. After the workshop we needed a break so Eric, Stefan, and I returned to my office, and we played a strategy game called Stones of Fate that Eric had Kickstarted and was awaiting the final product. Eric also gave us a sneak peek at a game tentatively called Meetings. Upon arriving at my office, we found an Edible Arrangement sent by Esteban—so nice. We opened it and everyone ate or took as much as they could before the weekend. I walked to Pasta Pomodoro Laurel Heights where Patrick met me for dinner. They ran a three-course, $19.94 prix fixe menu for their 20th anniversary. Caesar salad for both, Patrick had spaghetti arrabbiata with meatballs, I had penne portobello with grilled chicken and italian sausage in roasted garlic cream sauce. The menu claimed that the spaghetti was spicy but it was not very spicy at all. We each drank a glass of wine. Patrick had sangiovese, I had merlot. We both could not finish our entrees and wanted to save room for dessert. Patrick had eggless panna cotta with berries, I had tiramisu. The tiramisu was somewhat unusual in that it was topped with coarsely chopped chocolate (the menu said chocolate shavings). $70.36 after tip. Patrick drove us home.

Couldn't sleep last night, so I watched Netflix on my iPad in bed: a few minutes of Naqoyqatsi (awful), most of Samsara, an episode of Archer, Tomb Raider (2001). Sleep. Woke around 9:30. Started laundry. Breakfast: grilled thymed mushroom and potatoes, sage cheddar 3-egg omelette. Packed a gift. Walked to the post office to mail a package. Encountered a mail carrier delivering mail, handed him a misdelivered letter, telling him I knew it was probably a different carrier who misdelivered it. He accepted it. Post office. Walked home. Started a second load of laundry. Lunch: leftover soup. Started a third load of laundry. Completed tax filings. Folded laundry. Dinner at home with Patrick: leftovers. Dessert: fruit salad. Watched Aziz Ansari's Dangerously Delicious (2012) on Netflix instant watch with Patrick. Ordered a garage door mailbox to prevent our mail from being run over by the upstairs neighbor. Installed a new faucet spray for the sink. (Lasco faucet spray, model S, thread on, 09-2103.) The identical, previous one we had lasted many years.

Service was friendly and good. I got a ride from the others to Market and Van Ness. Muni was awful getting home. I waited 2 minutes for an L train to arrive, and when it did it was packed. No one got on or off. The next train arrival prediction was 15 minutes but it turned out to be more like 20 minutes. I was able to board but had to stand the whole way. I so regretted not taking UberX home. Began playing Monument Valley again from the beginning.

LastPass has the best response I've seen yet to Heartbleed. For the passwords you have stored with them, a page you can visit after logging in shows you which passwords are ready to be updated and which ones you should wait before changing. Breakfast at home: 2-egg scramble with asparagus and brown clamshell mushrooms, twice-grilled potatoes, freshly squozen orange juice. Began changing passwords. I must have at least 500 passwords. Began preparing candied orange peel. Edited and uploaded recent Hawaii trip photos, encountering lots of difficulty with Flickr's uploader. Caught up on journaling. Late lunch: mixed greens salad with clamshell mushrooms, grated carrot, grated sage cheddar cheese, blue cheese dressing. Early dinner: delivery from Sri Thai via EAT24: spring roll with pork, mango-pineapple prawns, pad woon sen, grilled chicken. I made steamed rice. Finished watching Big Deal on Madonna Street (1958) on Netflix DVD with Patrick. I laughed a lot during this film about bumbling thieves. Recharge Spa work for Drew: added another photo to the gallery, updated jQuery, editing for medical records request policy, edits to the permission to disclose form. Lost my batch of 224 photos that were uploading to Flickr—grrr.
Sun Apr 13, 2014

Drove to Balboa and 27th, picked up quantum13 and his friend Christian who was visiting from Switzerland. We drove to Pacific Heights where Christian was staying, he got his bag. Drove to Union Square Garage, parked. Said goodbye to Christian, whose flight was leaving in a few hours. quantum13 and I met Danny, Romy, Drew, and Phil at Colibri Mexican Bistro (415-440-2737, 438 Geary Street, San Francisco, California, USA) for a surprise reunion. Afterwards we went to Marines Memorial Theatre for The Big Gay Comedy Show for which Phil had found tickets on Goldstar for a great price. The show was a benefit for Richmond/Ermet AIDS Foundation. Bruce Vilanch, Shawn Ryan, Jason Brock, Marga Gomez, B.O.O.B.s, Leanne Borghesi, Shann Carr, Cassandra Cass, Ali Mafi, Countess Katya Smirnoff-Skyy, Ali Mafi, and Kitty Tapata. This was a fun show with, a bit oddly, an auction of two high-priced trip packages stuck in the middle following a 20-minute intermission. Seating was assigned; we sat in the orchestra in row K, which is the center rear. I met Christian, Gerard, and Yosh.

Recently lots of spam messages made it to my inbox, so I enabled the Bluehost feature called Spam Hammer for my domain. We'll see how it goes. If this doesn't fix it, I'll have to take more drastic measures. Late dinner at home: leftover mashed sweet potatoes. Reset a few passwords following Heartbleed.

Pizza delivery from Ingleside Pizza via telephone order, pepperoni with antipasto salad and ranch dressing, root beers: $25 after tip. Used Home Sharing for the first time to watch a movie Patrick purchased on his iMac on my iMac in our living room. It was initially confusing. The part that was unclear was needing to import the film from the other computer. Apple documents said that it would stream directly from the other computer, which was not true. Watched about an hour of Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon (2013) from iTunes purchase via Home Sharing with Patrick. Folded laundry. Uploaded photos to Facebook.

I ordered UberX and was home in 15 minutes for $11, and I realized that having a stress-free commute was like having a vigorous massage in that it just felt so good. I was going to spend $2 on Muni anyway, so it was really only $9 more to save an hour or more of transit time. Folded laundry. I helped with dinner at home with Patrick: Patrick prepared quinoa penne with snap peas, jumbo shrimp, diced bacon, garlic cloves, green garlic.
