Washed some dishes that had accumulated over the past day. Performed knee-friendly quad-strengthening exercises. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted sliced almonds, diced half banana; hot water. Performed stretches good for the back. We finished watching Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull on Disney+ with cocktails: Japanese whiskey with mint syrup and ginger beer. I also had a small bag of crunchy Cheetos. Patrick had a small bag of Lay's sour cream and cheddar potato chips. Dinner at home with Patrick: leftover tuna salad in pita with lettuce and honey-ginger vinaigrette for Patrick, leftover shrimp fried rice for me. Water to drink. Dessert: one leftover individually frozen banana pudding each. Patrick at his now. We continued playing Myst III: Exile but didn't get much further. I ate my banana pudding after he went to bed.

Sun Jul 2, 2023

Performed stretches good for the back. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted sliced almonds, diced half banana; hot water with squeeze of half lemon. Rode Muni to a celebration for Francis: brunch at Hot Jonnie's where I had a trio of pastrami sliders alongside the shared appetizers then picnicking at Dolores Park. In attendance: Emery, Tim C, JY, Adrian, Andrew, Jake, Eric, Ann, Rich, and others whose names I cannot recall. While there we observed distant, dark gray smoke from what probably was a small fire somewhere to the east. The fire seemed to be extinguished within a few minutes. Rode Muni home. I stopped at King of Thai Noodle and picked up an order of yellow curry chicken which I took home and we ate with leftover shrimp fried rice. We watched Star Trek: Strange New Worlds s2:e3 on Paramount+ followed by part of Nimesh Patel - Full Special: Thank You China | Stand Up Comedy on YouTube.

Tue Jul 4, 2023

Patrick and I rode Uber Green to the Legion of Honor for a short hike to Mile Rock Beach in Land's End. We don't usually hike since Patrick doesn't like sun, but today was overcast and he decided he wanted to try it. On the ride there we saw a Lexus colored chocolate brown—an unusual color for a car, we thought. We got lost several times along the trail. We had wanted to double-back the way we came but did not recall where to turn every time. We lunched at the cafe at the Legion of Honor: French onion soup, croque monsieur, chocolate and raspberry tart, sparkling water for Patrick, tap water for me. All food and drink were delicious. The soup was so rich we were unable to finish it. Rode Uber Green home. I napped. Cocktails: margaritas with applewood-smoked salt rim. Dinner at home with Patrick: shrimp rolls with side salad. Dessert: we shared the last previously frozen leftover banana pudding. We watched various YouTube videos, including John Mulaney Seeks the Truth While Eating Spicy Wings | Hot Ones via First We Feast. Patrick went to bed. I shopped online for shoes and bought nothing. Recharge Medical work: edited new content: CDL/DOT Exam. Late small meal: leftover yellow curry chicken with leftover steamed white rice with a little bit of leftover shrimp fried rice. Water to drink.

CPCS Candy or Medicine? project work: identify and exclude inherited styling. Rode Muni to a hardware store in Cole Valley for some purchases. Rode Muni home. Rested a bit. Repaired a broken toilet handle arm, which was pretty simple. The chain needed some adjusting, which took a few tries, but it was easy enough. Began cleaning the mess from the failed bathtub caulk job I did last weekend. Dinner at home with Patrick: leftover rotisserie chicken, shrimp rolls using leftover shrimp salad, water. Afterwards we each had glass of white wine. I washed dishes. We watched Star Trek: Strange New Worlds s2:e4 on Paramount+ then part of Nimesh Patel - Full Special: Thank You China | Stand Up Comedy on YouTube. Patrick went to bed. Fri Jul 7, 2023

After some poking around together, Eric knew the right things to change and now it seems like it's working again. Lunch at desk: leftover summer pasta salad with honey-lime dressing, water. Candy or Medicine? work. UCSF town hall. Rode Muni home. Dinner at home with Patrick: delivery from Little Original Joe's via DoorDash: medium hawaiian pizza with no pickled jalapenos, brussels sprouts with preserved lemon aioli, water. Dessert: Joe's butter cake with chocolate sauce.

Sat Jul 8, 2023

Walked and ran in place while watching various YouTube videos. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, blueberries; hot water. Began cleaning my bad bathtub caulk job from a week ago. Lunch at home with Patrick: leftover pizza, water. Patrick napped. I installed two wall-mounted lamps above his desk, which replaced a single IKEA lamp on his desk. For dinner, Patrick and I rode Uber Green to Zuni. We hadn't been in a really long time—perhaps 20 years or so. We arrived 10 minutes early and were invited to wait in the bar area. We each ordered a drink from bartender Eric: Patrick: El Caribe Ahumado ($15.00, Los Vecinos del Campo "Espadin" mezcal, Ancho Reyes, dry Curaçao, lime, vanilla liqueur). Me: Fresh Lime Margarita ($13.50, Cimarron Blanco tequila, Cointreau, lime). Our table became available. We paid at the bar—gratuity included. Our receipt said at the bottom, IMMIGRANTS MAKE AMERICA GREAT. The total on this bill was $38.70. I'm not sure where the other $4.50 came from. It must have been on the itemized receipt, but I didn't take a photo of it. We ate on the ground level near the pizza oven. Our reservation was for 6:00 p.m. and the place was mostly full. Bottled water ($9). We shared four dishes. First course: two jumbo white shrimp with cocktail sauce ($8). Second course: Black Mission figs and melon with Pernod, almond picada, wild arugula, and extra-virgin olive oil ($17.00). Third courses (together): shoestring potatoes ($9.00) with aioli ($1.50) and pan-seared Llano Seco pork chop with summer vegetable succotash and gremolata ($42.00). Dessert: Gateau Victoire with whipped cream ($14.00), decaf espresso for Patrick, decaf Americano for me. All food and drink were delicious. One shrimp had a small piece of shell. There was an unusually long delay between the second and third courses. When ordering my Americano I requested it with cream, but no cream appeared when it was delivered, and the deliverator left before we stopped chatting and realized. It was re-requested and then delivered a little bit later. When Patrick visited the restroom, a server promptly came by to fold his napkin and left it on the table (rather than the chair). Service by Joseph was sufficient. While there we saw Mark Leno get seated at a nearby table with some friends. Afterwards Patrick and I walked to Blackbird for cocktails: Club Med (Mezcal, Aperol, Pamplemousse, Lemon, Coconut, $15) for Patrick, Mile High Club (Reposado Tequila, Tamarind, Spiced Pear Liqueur, Fortified Wine, Bitters, $15) for me. We rode Uber Green home.

Sun Jul 9, 2023

Variously throughout the day: performed stretches good for the back and performed knee-friendly quad-strengthening exercises. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, dried cherries; hot water. Patrick made an experimental variation on a cronut using ready-to-bake crescent roll dough from a pressurized cardboard tube: three donuts proper and another one with leftover dough. We shared two, but I ate only two bites. I redid the bathtub caulk job from a week ago, which took all day. I used new caulk this time. Began assembling small speaker shelves for Patrick's desk. Dinner at home with Patrick: delivery from Hall of Flame Burger via DoorDash: Buzzer Beater half-pound burger cooked medium and with onion rings for Patrick, Flightless Falcon grilled chicken burger with swiss cheese and fries for me. Patrick also had a chocolate milkshake. All food and drink were delicious. Patrick ate only half the burger. I ate nearly all of my burger/sandwich. We watched Shrinking s1:e4 on Apple TV+ then various YouTube videos including four videos of Matt Alber live at Joe's Pub NYC.

Mon Jul 10, 2023

Performed stretches good for the back. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted sliced almonds, dried cherries; hot water. Rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. BI and BMI site merge work. Siteimprove linkchecking and policy work. AZlist work: added a bunch of missing items and did some general cleanup. Identified a domain that needed to be retired and filed a request on behalf of Nadav. Helped Zev G with formatting an entry on his pubs page. Lunch at desk: half turkey, avocado, and bacon sandwich with fries from Bellini Cafe. Water from my water bottle. Began rewatching Oh, Hello on Netflix. Helped Emma G format a news page for Craik Lab. CPCS Candy or Medicine? meeting and project work: use javascript to inject close box for mobile only. Rode Muni and walked home. I just missed one bus by one minute, and with 20-minute headways I decided to stay on the bus I was on until the end of the line then walk the rest of the way. Door to door: 40 minutes. If I had waited for the next bus, it probably would have been 70 or more minutes. Dinner at home with Patrick: baked salmon with creamy orzo, water. I installed two Wiz light bulbs in the new lamps above Patrick's desk. I had to make some changes to our network settings since the bulbs connect only to a 2.4 GHz network. We watched American Born Chinese s1:e5 on Disney+. I walked in place while watching and drank 8 ounces of sparkling water with simple syrup and mexican vanilla. Patrick went to bed. I played more with the new Wiz light bulbs and figured out how to install the Matter integration in the Wiz v2 app to add the light bulbs to the Apple Home app. I washed dishes. Late snack: leftover sandwich from yesterday's dinner, water.

Tue Jul 11, 2023

Performed stretches good for the back. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, toasted sliced almonds, sliced half banana; hot water. Rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. UCSF shuttle from Parnassus to Mission Bay. Door to door: 1 hour 20 minutes. I did some work on the shuttle along the way. Met and welcomed Suzan R, re-met Anne B who recently rejoined our team following a few months working in IT. We all chatted a while. Followup with Rebecca D about some web edits. Web edit help for Emma G and BAYS. 1:1 with Eric. Lunch at Street Tacos with Eric, Suzan, and Anne. I had a taco salad in crispy shell bowl with carne asada and mild salsa. Tap water to drink. Later Suzan watched while I drafted the news story she and Eric worked on and which I reviewed before staging but had no changes. UCSF shuttle from Mission Bay to Parnassus. Rode Muni home. Door to door: 1 hour 10 minutes. I did some work on the shuttle along the way. Dinner at home with Patrick: leftover burger (Patrick), salmon (me), and fries (both) with side salad with ranch and croutons (both). My salmon was served with newly cooked steamed white rice instead of the leftover creamy orzo to reduce the sodium. Patrick installed the Wiz app, and I showed him how to use it. We watched Shrinking s1:e5 on Apple TV+. Patrick went to bed. I washed dishes.

Wed Jul 12, 2023

Performed stretches good for the back. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted grated coconut, toasted sliced almonds, sliced half banana; hot water. Worked from home. Updated Google Analytics config to exclude a small branch of pages on our CP site due to patient privacy concerns. PharmD-PhD timeline project, including a chart in Excel. Review went quickly, and I made it live. I was unable to get a proper SVG because the Excel to PDF to Adobe Illustrator conversion failed to include the text, so I used JPG instead. Web edits with Joel. Siteimprove linkchecking and policy work. Lunch at home: I prepared for myself a Gardein burger on wheat bun with bacon, monterey jack cheese, baby kale, mayo, and ketchup. Iced tea to drink. Dessert: half of an espresso chocolate muffin with sea salt that Patrick had baked earlier today. BI-BMI site merge work all afternoon. Configured web edit permissions for Suzan R. Dinner at home with Patrick: delivery from Memphis Minnies via DoorDash: two-item combo with brisket, fried chicken, corn muffin, mac and cheese, sweet potatoes; one more corn muffin; half pound of smoked fried chicken; small mac and cheese; small smoked beans. Water for me. Patrick had an iced tea. While waiting for the order I showed Patrick how to make song lyrics appear on the screen in Apple Music after we added his profile to Apple TV. We don't have Apple TV 4K, so we were unable to make use of the Apple Music Sing feature. We watched Secret Invasion s1:e4 on Disney+. Patrick went to bed. I washed dishes.

Thu Jul 13, 2023

Performed stretches good for the back. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted grated coconut, toasted sliced almonds, sliced half banana; hot water. Worked from home. Siteimprove linkchecking and policy work. Edits for Zev G's research page to resolve missing PDF links. Zoomed with Austen T and Matt H about html email. Strategic plan html email announcements the rest of the day. Lunch: Memphis Minnie and other leftovers, water. Dinner at home with Patrick. We prepared dinner together. Bratwurst with instant mashed potatoes and moroccan-spiced carrots, water. After dinner, cocktails: Tokyo mules (Moscow mules but with Japanese whiskey instead of vodka). We watched Star Trek: Strange New Worlds s2:e5 on Paramount+ and various YouTube videos. I did some walking in place while watching. Patrick went to bed. I washed dishes. Late snack: one Gardein chick'n slider from frozen. Water with squeeze of lime to drink.

Fri Jul 14, 2023

Performed stretches good for the back. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted grated coconut, sliced half banana; hot water. Rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Mailing list maintenance prep. Edited the KMG and U Buffalo alumni award story. Lunch from Panda Express and ate at desk: bowl with fried rice, honey sesame chicken breast. Water from my water bottle. My fortune: An unexpected windfall will soon be yours. Met 1:1 with Suzan R to review edits to the Buffalo story and stage it. Siteimprove linkchecking and policy work. Orgchart update: Office of Admin. Mailing list maintenance. Met 1:1 with Eric. Rode Muni home. Dinner at home with Patrick from Little Original Joe's via DoorDash: caesar salad, large PB&A pizza (proscuitto, burrata, arugula). The pizza arrived very late and very cold. It did not seem like the delivery driver's fault because we could see on the map the driver was waiting for the order almost the entire time. Patrick and I were both too tired to complain. Patrick remained home while I rode Muni to the Castro to meet Richard and Stephen who were in SF visiting for a while. On the way I encountered and said hello to Mike P who was dining with friends Jose and Ken at or near Cafe Mystique. Stephen and Richard gathered with their friends at Toad Hall, where I met or re-met or encountered Craig, Ye, Jake, Mark, Hoa, David, Chi, Kai, Drew and Scott, Chris, Michael, Fernando, Pichai, and Julian. I had happy hour margaritas, which means you get two for the price of one, which is $11 before tip. Stephen and Richard departed, and I stayed at Toad Hall meeting and chatting with others and spending some time on the dance floor mostly with Scott and Julian and, I think, two of their friends. Rode Muni home. To bed a little after midnight.

Sat Jul 15, 2023

Woke a little later than usual. Performed stretches good for the back. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted grated coconut, sliced half banana; hot water. Installed small shelves for speakers at Patrick's desk and moved the wooden hook for his headphones. Lunch at home with Patrick: leftover caesar salad with croutons, leftover PB&A pizza, water. Midafternoon snack: leftover PB&A pizza, water. I napped. Dinner at home with Patrick: leftover PB&A pizza, water. I also tried to eat the remaining leftover orzo but failed; it was too rich, and Patrick believes it's because the recipe mixed the reused grease from cooking the bacon in the orzo. We had planned to go to a Crazy Funny Asians show at Neck of the Woods, but Patrick wasn't feeling well. We asked about a refund even though the policy said all sales were final, and they allowed us to transfer our tickets to someone else. We put the word out to The Syndicate but received no responses, so they went to waste. $60 won't break us, but it's also not nothing, especially since they give away 100 free tickets and sell $15 tickets. That's a lot of months of Disney+, which has more than 2 hours of entertainment and without a two-drink minimum. I don't mind supporting artists, but I'd rather have seen them perform while doing so. After yesterday's DoorDash and Little Original Joe's fiasco (also about $60), it's especially disappointing and demoralizing. We watched Shrinking s1:e6 on Apple TV+ then various YouTube videos. Patrick went to bed. I washed dishes and tidied.

Sun Jul 16, 2023

Performed stretches good for the back. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted grated coconut, sliced half banana; hot water. Housecleaning: vacuumed, cleaned the bathroom sink and bathtub. Cut my hair, showered. Walked and rode Muni to El Rio to meet new coworker Suzan R at Daytime Realness for two celebrations. This was my first time to El Rio. Suzan introduced me to many, many people. Here are some of the names I remembered: Tim, Simon, Veronica, Nas, Scott, Skip, Steven S, Jeremy, Jeffrey, Josh, Valter, Donna S, Peanut, Phillip, Linda, John, Tariq, Andrew. I drank, I danced, I talked, I laughed. It was a fine time, and I enjoyed myself immensely. I drank a margarita then water then a mezcal margarita. Walked and rode Muni home. Dinner at home with Patrick: smoky black bean soup with sausage, water. I washed dishes during a break while watching Foundation s2:e1 on Apple TV+. Patrick went to bed. Late snack: monterey jack on sourdough toast, water.

Mon Jul 17, 2023

Performed stretches good for the back. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted grated coconut, sliced half banana; hot water. Rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Chatted briefly with Joel, Lauren, Robyn, Maya, and Edgar during PharmD Orientation. We talked about Orientation, my haircut, how long one can go without a haircut, pick/pay cards, the joy of seeing the full circle—students at orientation and commencement, leftover food, and more. Siteimprove linkchecking and policy work. Granted web editor permissions to Suzan R. Lunch: roast beef and cheddar on ciabatta from Ladle & Leaf. Edited a news story for Eric and Suzan. CPCS Candy or Medicine? meeting and project work: use javascript to inject close box for mobile only. The hurdle I overcame today: when adding an svg element with Javascript you need to use createElementNS() instead of createElement(). 1:1 with Eric: campaigns and tracking mailing list audiences. Rode Muni home. Dinner at home with Patrick: one-pot spiced coconut chicken and rice, water. Dessert for me: hot chocolate with mint syrup. We watched American Born Chinese s1:e6 on Disney+ then a few YouTube videos. Patrick went to bed. I washed dishes. Performed stretches good for the back.

Tue Jul 18, 2023

Took a day off of work. Performed stretches good for the back. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted grated coconut, sliced half banana; hot water. Patrick and I walked and rode Muni to a lunch matinee of Joy Ride at Alamo Drafthouse. There were only two other parties in the entire large theatre. We shared an Alamo Bowl (brown rice and quinoa, baby arugula, roasted sweet potato, black beans, cherry tomato, avocado, serrano lime dressing topped with toasted pecans) and an avocado chicken salad sandwich (chicken salad (creamy avocado-lemon dressing, pickled red onion, celery), spinach, grilled tomato, toasted ciabatta, served with fries, pickle spear, and ketchup) and an unsweetened ice tea. Waters. We enjoyed the silly, raunchy film. Afterwards we walked around the Mission and the Castro then stopped for beverages at Verve: mocha for Patrick, iced chai latte for me. We walked to Super Duper and bought a chocolate-dipped chocolate soft-serve ice cream cone and took it to Duboce Park to share while we watched dogs play. Rode Muni home. I napped. Dinner at home with Patrick: leftovers from last night, water. We watched Shrinking s1:e7 on Apple TV+ then various YouTube videos, including the remainder of Nimesh Patel - Full Special: Thank You China | Stand Up Comedy. Patrick went to bed. I washed dishes. Late snack: monterey jack on sourdough toast, water.

Thu Jul 20, 2023

Performed stretches good for the back. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted grated coconut, sliced half banana; hot water. Worked from home. Siteimprove linkchecking and policy work. Resolved a problem with a redirect not working as expected; I needed to delete domain-specific aliases before it would work. Resolved a problem with a CPCS web page which was referencing a page via its node number. The solution was that it was referencing the wrong page that had the same name. Changing the reference to the correct page fixed it. Lunch: leftover one-pot spiced coconut chicken and rice, water. Performed knee-friendly quad-strengthening exercises. Web editor training with Ella R. We stopped because encountered unexpected problems. After much consternation I traced the problem to corruption due to content pasted from a Word document. The document included images which Drupal interpreted as base64 and somehow—I have no idea how—this corrupted the page and cache enough to cause very strange behavior. Web editor training with Ella R, take two. She completed her page successfully. CPCS Candy or Medicine? project work. Patrick and I walked to dinner at Taraval Okazu Ya: miso soup for two, two orders of ebi nigiri (four pieces total), one dragon roll (eel and tempura shrimp), one holiday roll (hamachi and tuna), one spider roll (soft-shell crab), one X-man roll (spicy tuna and tempura shrimp), one to-go container (25 cents). We ordered about one roll too many and took the remainder home. Food and drink were delicious. Service by Ben was very good but slow as the restaurant got busier. Walked home. We watched a Troye Sivan video for Rush then Star Trek: Strange New Worlds s2:e6 on Paramount+. Patrick went to bed. Cutting board wax treatment. Continued reading from Brene Brown's Atlas of the Heart after taking a long break from it for no particular reason.

Sat Jul 22, 2023

Performed stretches good for the back. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted grated coconut, sliced half banana; hot water. Performed more stretches good for the back. Troubleshot and resolved a network problem (web pages don't load) by restarting the router. Deep-cleaned the inside frame of the living room window. Replaced air purifier inner filters and outer prefilters. Troubleshot problems with HomePod speakers not playing music simultaneously on both speakers and resolved them by restarting both speakers. It took several minutes longer than I had expected. Troubleshot a problem with receiving email sent to me by Patrick and resolved it by removing a spam filter I had created a few days ago. Prepared and printed an index card created in InDesign describing the wine we plan to bring to tonight's dinner. The wine is Emilio Moro La Felisa 2020, a tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Spain. Wine Spectator gave it a score of 91, saying, "An expressive red, revealing an aromatic overtone of Mediterranean scrub accents, with ripe blackberry, damson plum reduction and black olive. Framed by bright acidity and chalky tannins, this has power as well as immediate pleasure and good balance. Well-spiced, minerally finish. Drink now." Patrick napped. I completed several black Sugru projects using a three-pack: repaired a circular Umbra mirror that I have had for decades, repaired the Sugru retrofitted rubber feet on our wooden Squatty Potty, and used the remaining Sugru on the iPhone cable near my bed. For the Squatty Potty I had to clean it completely, then scrape the old Sugru off with a plastic putty knife, then clean the area with unscented mineral spirits, then apply the Sugru, then cover the Sugru with plastic wrap, then set it firmly on the ground to ensure it was balanced, then wait a day or so for it to cure. Vacuumed various areas, partly to clean Sugru bits. Midafternoon snack: greek yogurt with dried cherries and unsalted pistachios, water. Listened to OK Go's new song This on YouTube, and I like it. Patrick arose. I napped then showered. We rode Uber Green to dinner at Deluxe Queer. We met host David, host and dressmaker Anthony, Aussie Treffyn, Anthony who works at Lyft, Eulysses who is an engineer, Matthew who works in furniture import/export and design, and talented musician Mina. We were seated adjacent to Anthony, Eulysses, Matthew, and Mina, and consequently we mostly talked with only them the entire evening. The four-course, Miyazaki-and-Studio-Ghibli-inspired Summertime Fantasy Feast menu: Course #1: Porco Rosso: salmon crudo with miso corn puree, coconut milk, and lemon. Course #2: Ponyo: cold ramen with miso-mushroom-soy broth, torihamu, menma, and sesame tomato. Course #3: Spirited Away: Taiwanese street food: char siu pork and apples, scallion pancakes, five-spice fried mushrooms, cumin beef dumplings. Course #4: Miyazaki Landscapes: white chocolate bombe with roasted pineapple jam, pepper coconut whipped cream, five-spice cookies crumbles, Italian meringue. The food was carefully prepared, impeccably timed, and all very delicious. We shared our wine because we knew we could not finish it ourselves. I thought the entire experience was exquisitely crafted, the company was terrific with fine vibes, and we enjoyed it very much. We rode Uber Green home, which took much longer than expected to find and secure a driver, and I realized only a moment before it became too late to cancel without a fee that there were more Lyft cars in the area. To bed almost immediately upon arriving home.

Mon Jul 24, 2023

Performed stretches good for the back. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted grated coconut, toasted sliced almonds, diced peach; hot water. Rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. Siteimprove linkchecking and policy work. Responded to new PC lab website inquiries. CPCS Candy or Medicine? project work: styling bug fixes. Met Emma G for tea. We first went to Starbucks at 350 Parnassus but it was too noisy from the construction across the street and there weren't seats available inside, so we walked to Caffe Central in Kalmanovitz Library. Along with our drinks, I had a sandwich because I got lost in the code zone and forgot to eat lunch. I enjoyed our chat, a mixture of work and non-work. Edited a news story for Eric and Suzan. Rode Muni home. Dinner at home with Patrick: leftover linguine with beef ragu, water. Dessert for Patrick only: mint chip ice cream and dutch chocolate ice cream. At some point between the 18th and today we watched Shrinking s1:e8 on Apple TV+, but I don't recall when. Tonight we watched American Born Chinese s1:e7 on Disney+ then Shrinking s1:e9 on Apple TV+. Lunch at home: Patrick picked up sandwiches from Irving Subs while running errands: fratellino (mortadella, black forest ham, salami, smoked gouda, roasted red peppers) for Patrick, T.A.B.L.T. (turkey, thick-cut bacon, avocado) for me, potato chips from the pantry for both. Performed knee-friendly quad-strengthening exercises while rewatching John Mulaney: The Comeback Kid on Netflix. Posted updated content to FAA for Robin. Troubleshot duplicate files in OneDrive likely caused by unsyncing and resyncing OneDrive on July 17 due to sync issues. Began archiving dept history microsites in preparation for removing them. Patrick and I rode Muni and walked to dinner at Pasta Panino, our first time dining here. At about 6:00 p.m. the place was almost full and somewhat loud. Sparkling water; arancini; small caesar salad with anchovies; linguini aloo scoglio with clams, mussels, shrimp, mixed roasted peppers, calabrian chilis, roasted tomato, white wine and parmigiano. I thought the food was tasty and carefully prepared. We both enjoyed the arancini and caesar salad. The seafood pasta seemed fresh to me, but Patrick thought some of the seafood wasn't completely fresh and that the quality of this dish could have been higher. We both thought the service was almost overly attentive and needed some improvement. If you are two people and both order sparkling water, they will oddly bring you two 500 ml bottles; ask for just one bottle if you're not sure you will drink both. After our water order was taken, a minute later someone else came by and asked us what kind of water we liked—a bit annoying. Later we told the waiter who took our food order that we were sharing everything. However, when the salad arrived, only one knife was provided until I requested another. The staff doesn't understand proper timing. We were still finishing our salad and arancini when the main arrived, and we felt rushed but didn't feel it necessary to complain. A shrimp that had found its way off a plate landed on the floor in a walkway and was not noticed by the staff for perhaps five to ten minutes when it was finally retrieved. Service was friendly and clear. We walked in the Castro before riding Muni home. Dessert: ice cream with brownie bite. We watched Secret Invasion s1:e6 (season finale) on Disney+. Patrick went to bed. I washed dishes. Continued reading from Brene Brown's Atlas of the Heart.

Performed stretches good for the back. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted grated coconut, toasted sliced almonds, diced banana; hot water. Finished the wall switch plate screws repainting project. Patrick recently finished painting a reinterpretation of Hokusai's The Great Wave off Kanagawa, and I hung it in the bedroom. Patrick and I rode Muni and walked to Up Your Alley. We arrived within the first hour and donated $10 each at the gate. We shared one burrito with chips and very spicy salsa and an aranciata from Cielito Lindo. We walked entire the fair. Some booths were still setting up at noon. After leaving the fair we saw a man walking toward the fair and wearing a bright yellow shirt of a certain color which said HUMAN URINAL across the chest. We walked to Swatch where Patrick got his battery changed for free. It took about one minute. We rode Muni to the Castro and walked to Swirl. We ordered a quadronno sandwich (prosciutto, burrata, roasted tomatoes, truffle mayo), an unsweetened iced tea, and an aranciata. I paid via Toast but the sale failed to complete as expected. I went inside and learned that Swirl is run separately from the kitchen which is run by Heroic Italian. I walked to the kitchen and mentioned this to the employees, and after some discussion I paid again, and it again failed to complete. Eventually one of the employees read the order on my screen and took my order on his order-taking device after I confirmed that my card was not charged. After a reasonable amount of time our order arrived, but the iced tea was missing; he had forgotten to include it, so I had to go through the manual payment process again. We ate, drank, and left. The food was good, but the experience was terrible. I have had at least several good experiences in the past with Toast payments, so I have no idea why today it did not work. We stopped at Cliff's Variety so that Patrick could buy a tiny paintbrush. We walked to Kerry and Mom Ryan's place. Kerry took a walk while Patrick and I chatted with Mom. I was a bit tired and briefly fell asleep. After a while Kerry returned, then Patrick and I departed. We walked to the Castro. Patrick went to a poetry reading at Fabulosa Books, meeting Daniel W.K. Lee and several other writers and writing industry professionals. I sat at Philz Coffee with a medium iced chai and watched mostly tourists and locals with dogs walk past. We met and walked to Fable for a light dinner: salad with candied pecans, blue cheese, and mustard vinaigrette; bread with oil and salted butter. Patrick had a glass of white, I had a glass of rose. Sparkling water for both. We rode Muni home. We watched half of Matt Rife: Matthew Steven Rife (FULL SPECIAL) on YouTube. Patrick went to bed, and I joined a few hours later.

We watched [NEW 2023] ROGERS: MUSICAL - FIRST SHOWING - 4K 60FPS | DCA, DISNEYLAND RESORT via LMG Vids on YouTube. I liked it more than Patrick did. Patrick went to bed. Late snack: tortilla chips, water.
