Ran in place to Apple News Today and Hidden Brain podcasts. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, cinnamon, and diced pear; water. Sprint standup. D8 work all day. Patrick and I visited with Kerry and Mom Ryan for the first time since October 18 and November 1. Patrick rented a Getaround car and drove over. We met in the courtyard with masks and distancing. They both received their second doses of Pfizer four weeks ago. We gave Patrick's mom some slices of Southern pecan buttermilk cake, a birthday card, a new iPhone SE 2nd generation in red, a new (faster) phone charger, and a new case to fit the new phone. I attempted to perform the phone setup, but we couldn't connect to the building's wifi and the cellular signal in the garden was almost non-existent. The phone had a low charge and we found an outdoor outlet, but that wasn't the most important part of the problem. After failing with multiple tries, Patrick and I took it home. I backed it up to multiple devices, performed the setup, swapped the sim card, and Patrick was on his way to return it to her. Lunch at home: I made for myself black rice noodles with a tofu and veggie stir-fry, water. Resolved D7 styling problems with details-summary. Dinner at home with Patrick: I prepared cheddar veggie burgers with mayo and butter leaf lettuce, crinkle-cut fries, sweet potato puffs. Water to drink. Setup and prep for Patrick's event. We attended Queer Flannery O'Connor Award Winners, part of the Perfectly Queer reading series (co-hosted?) by Rick and Wayne G. The other two award winners were Lori O and Anne R. They each read briefly from their books, then discussed how the award has influenced their careers, whether they knew about O'Connor's racist attitudes before winning the award, and how they view the award in this light. It was a fine discussion, and everyone was having so much fun they went 22 minutes over the scheduled 60 minutes. We undid our setup. Patrick went to bed. I washed dishes then had dessert: a small slice of buttermilk cake. I also gave a bunch of slices to the upstairs neighbors. Updates for home websites. Fixed some minor issues with Patrick's website: resolved incomplete paths in a favicon site manifest, removed unneeded sourcemap references in asset files provided by the CMS, adjusted the pull exclude list. Today after avoiding using BetterTouchTool for a long time because of a strange problem in which it would disable my Esc key, I began troubleshooting the problem again. I figured out how to disable GoldenChaos: click the Preset menu in the top right corner, then uncheck the Active checkbox for GoldenChaos. Late meal: butter leaf lettuce salad with sliced mushrooms, grated mozzarella, ranch dressing; water.
