Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted shaved coconut, sliced and toasted almonds, diced half banana; hot water. Over the past few days Patrick has been preparing us to move to a new home by packing things in boxes—mostly books and artwork. Today I removed many picture hangers from the walls and patched them with spackling. I also removed many 3M Command Strips from the walls and ceilings. More than half did not remove cleanly as the product had promised, but with a bit of work most of them are in a mostly-clean state. Upgraded to iOS 18.3 on my iPhone 16 Pro. Lunch at home: Patrick had hummus toast with pickled vegetables. I had cheddar and parsley in between two corn tortillas. We met with our landlord to discuss a buyout agreement. Later Patrick visited his mom and afterwards I met him for dinner at Dancing Yak (415-525-4857, 280 Valencia St). On the way Muni threw everyone out of the train and forced us to wait for the next train. Old fashioned nepal (turmeric and black pepper-infused bourbon, cardamom syrup, dash of angostura and cardamom bitters) for Patrick, goddess of the sky (mezcal, honey, turmeric syrup, citrus, amara nonino, egg white, hibiscus salt rim) for me. We shared: fish tawa (seared catfish seasoned with mustard powder, turmeric, and cumin), kale chaat (kale, yogurt, mint, tamarind, onions, tomatoes, potato—surprisingly crunchy), and watermelon salad (watermelon, feta, avocado oil, honey, garlic, turmeric). All food and drink were delicious. Service was very good. Afterwards we got gelato at Hila: Patrick got a one-scoop cup with half straciatella and half dark chocolate. I got a two-scoop small waffle cone with cherry chocolate on the bottom and coffee on top. Afterwards we stopped in at a shop filled with mostly antique cookware and glassware, and I chatted with the shopkeeper about ash trays that resembled human lungs. Walked and rode Muni home.
