Slept in. Took a day off. Breakfast at home: I made myself a small quesadilla with Good Eggs shredded chicken, heirloom tomato, salsa, shredded Mexican cheese, and tomato paste; 8 ounces of orange juice, one pint of hot water with the juice from half a lime. Rode Muni and walked with Patrick to our first visit to the Musuem of the African Diaspora (MOAD) which we both enjoyed. Lunch at The Cavalier: beverages: refresher for Patrick, white peach lemonade for me; we shared a scotched duck egg and the crispy coronation chicken sandwich with fries and ketchup. $52.90 before an $8.50 tip. Service by Andre and food and drink were all very good. We walked around Union Square and the Tenderloin before baths and dinner at Onsen Bathhouse and Restaurant (466 Eddy Street). Dinner: cocktails: smoked negroni (smoked soju, cappelletti, vermouth route) for Patrick, sangria (chai-infused soju, pear cinnamon, orange oil, vino) then later smoked negroni for me; food: chilled shrimp and snap pea nanbanzuke (with daikon, carrots, scallions, sesame), yuba okonomiyaki (with nori, hoisin sauce, soft boiled egg, scallions, bonito), chicken tender skewers (with tamari glaze and chives), mushroom dumplings (with bonito broth, mixed mushrooms, baby chard, dill); dessert: chocolate date cake (with peanut, caramel, black sesame). $113.30 before an $18 tip.
