Day 4 of 6 of a work trip combined with vacation to Seattle. Checked out of Paramount Hotel, left my luggage at the hotel. Walked to Pike Place Market. Had some difficulty finding Honest Biscuits, which is in a building on the south side of Western Avenue. Walked to Victor Steinbrueck Park, then again through Pike Place Market, then north and south along 1st Avenue, stopping here and there shopping for a jacket, eventually buying one from Patagonia, and stopping to look in at or to browse at familiar places like Mae Phim, Magic Mouse Toys, 411 First Avenue South, 83 King, Amtrak King Street Station. Old favorite Cafe Hue has been gone about 7 years according to a man who worked at the restaurant now at that location. I visited the UPS Waterfall Garden Park, then walked north along 2nd Avenue until Madison Street, then east until 4th Avenue. I stopped for a blood orange soda at the cafe in Central Library and explored the library a bit, then continued north along 4th Avenue until Pine Street, turning right, and stopping at Pacific Place, which is renovating. The shops that exist are open, but many retail spaces were unfilled. On the fourth floor, Din Tai Fung now exists in the old Stars space. I stopped there for snow crab and pork xiao long bao and a sweet black tea: about $20. Returned to Paramount Hotel and claimed my luggage. quantum13 picked me up in his car, then we picked up Tadija who had just purchased groceries at QFC (Broadway and Republican). Returned to their condo and relaxed for a bit. Tadija began preparing dinner. quantum13 departed for Chinese class then returned after about an hour. Tadija and I chatted and snacked on potato chips, nuts, and dried fruit. Dinner: baked chicken with rice. Dessert for only me: an ice cream bar. Afterwards we watched Kill Bill: Volume 2 on Netflix via Apple TV. To bed late.
