Woke at 4:00 am due to time zone shift, returned to bed and rested more somewhat successfully. Shower. Coffee with Patrick in one of the ground floor cabanas. Breakfast at Mahina and Sun's. Rode UberX to National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (2177 Puowaina Dr, Honolulu, HI 96813, aka Punchbowl Cemetary). A few minutes of paperwork with Dex and Lani in a trailer office followed by a short ceremony with many family and friends in attendance. Dad's ashes were interred at Columbarium 13. Afterwards everyone gathered for lunch at Empress Restaurant (100 N Beretania St, Honolulu, HI 96817); Patrick and I rode with Jerome. Jerome gave us a ride to Surfjack, and on the way we encountered a stunning fire at the Marco Polo building. Upon arriving in our room, I noticed a handwitten note from housekeeping staff member Marienelle—nice. Shower then nap. Dinner at Mahina and Sun's with Patrick, live music by Jeff Rasmussen. Chris and Nate couldn't join due to road closures from the fire.
