Sam gave us a ride to SFO. Virgin America flight 51 from SFO to HNL at 8:10 am. Free upgrade from main cabin to main cabin select (exit row) I think because they wanted to seat a different party together. The plane departed about 30 mins late. On the flight, I slept some. In Main Cabin Select we received free food and drink. I had a Dean and Deluca turkey sandwich. I began playing Monument Valley 2, which is just as wonderful as Monument Valley. Chris picked us up at the airport. We stopped at Punahou House to drop our luggage. We met contractor Bryson then drove to the new International Marketplace for lunch at Kona Grill: shrimp salad for Patrick, club sandwich for Chris, potstickers for me. We browsed in the marketplace stopping here and there, including a very fancy candy store called Sugarfina. We got drinks at Hideout at the Lay Low: island julep for Patrick, mai taime for Chris, good morning waikiki for me. We visited Fedex Kinkos to print programs for tomorrow's service. We encountered problems trying to print it ourselves, then encountered a very long wait in line, but I eventually got exactly what I needed after about 30 minutes. Returned to Punahou House. Nate was home. We chatted about the construction and acquired our luggage. Encountered neighbor Diana on the way out. Drove to Surfjack, our hotel for this trip. Upon arrival, we were offered cool and refreshing beverages while we awaited our check-in process with Benjamin and Sai. Machines emit the heady scent of gardenia at various locations. We stayed in room 641. We love the bath floor tile, unique shower drain cover, complimentary snacks, ceiling fan, soap, decor in general, excellent wifi (39 Mbps down, 13 up). Patrick rested while I rode Uber to Like Like Drive-in: mini fried rice, fried chicken for me; ahi dinner plate for dex; saimin for lani, kiana, and akemi; a dinner plate for rob; teri burger and leftover chicken to go for the boys back at the hotel. Rode UberX to Surfjack, laughing at how poorly the GPS pronounced Hawaiian street names.
