My 3volt heated boots have not been working as well as they did when I first bought them, so tonight I opened a pair of portable heater packs called Mini-Mini that I had found in our disaster kit. They had expired in 2003 so I had little hope that they worked at all but I had read somewhere online that sometimes they still do work past the expiration date. To my surprise, these did work. They weren't hot, maybe a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the hottest I would expect this to be when new. Stuffed inside the toe of my boot, it felt slightly warmer and seemed uneven: hotter in some places, cooler in others, probably due to its restricted movement inside the toe of the boot.
