Vacation day. Breakfast: leftover noodles. Rode Muni to Embarcadero Station. Walked toward the Embarcadero and encountered a sandwich board advertising Autodesk Gallery—a free gallery on the 2nd floor at the Autodesk offices at One Market Street. It turns out to be really amazing, with tons of exhibits, many of which are interactive. Lots of architectural scale models and beautiful 3D-printed objects. Lunch at Michael Mina's Ramen Bar: Hokkaido with pork belly ($14), strawberry mule ($7): $23.75 total. The noodles and halved boiled egg are perfectly cooked. The broth is thickish and tasty. The strawberry mule is disappointingly weak. Indoor lighting is terrible for food photography (unless you're right by a window), so I didn't take any photos. Next time: I want to try the chicken sandwich; skip the cocktails. Followed Tour #2: Embarcadero (North): Covering the Waterfront from Tom Downs' Walking San Francisco by Wilderness Press. Visited the Ferry Building Marketplace, walked along the Embarcadero, explored Levi Strauss Plaza, visited the Levi Strauss history exhibit, saw 200 and 202 Green Street where Philo T. Farnsworth invented television, saw the Daniel Gibb warehouse building, looked in at the historic Old Ship Saloon, walked through Sydney Walton Square. Rode Muni home. Surprisingly, only 37 minutes from Embarcadero Station to my front door starting at exactly 5:00 pm. Dinner at home with Patrick: white beans and rice, bread and butter, red wine. Did some gardening.
