Staycation day 15 of 16. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, flax meal, cacao nibs, toasted and slivered almonds, diced half banana; water. Lunch at home by myself: Maruchan low-sodium chicken-flavored ramen with broccoli (from frozen), red onion, halved mushrooms; water. Cut my hair, showered. Patrick and I rode Muni to the Castro. Pre-dinner drink with Patrick on the sidewalk at Swirl: one glass each of sangiovese. Dinner at Frances (3870 17th Street) with Patrick, Chris, and Nate. This was Chris and Nate's first visit to Frances. Patrick and Nate each had the $65 wine pairing. Chris and I each had a $19 glass of Poderi Colla nebbiolo. Later in the meal Chris also had a $18 glass of Piquentum teran. Josey Baker sourdough levain with salted butter: $6. Wine pairing: NV Lenoble PM/PN/CH Brut Prestige 'Intense,' Champagne, France. fried green tomatoes, banyuls vinegar, pickled tomato remoulade. wildflower campanelle, brulee tomato and beef strip ragu, horseradish. Wine pairing: 2019 Poderi Colla Nebbiolo d'Alba 'Drago,' Piedmont, Italy. 'barbecue' pork loin, cherry bomb pepper, devoto apple. shelling bean ragout, grilled mustard greens and feta. Wine pairing: 2019 Piquentum Teran, Buzet, Istria, Croatia. blackberry trifle, olive oil sponge, passion fruit curd, creme fraiche. Wine pairing: NV Fred Jerbis 'Vermut 25,' Friuli, Italy. We talked about SIRVA, vaccines, parents, health, pandemic practices, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, future travel, Oregon, Hawaii, how to stay in the same job for 21 years, and more. In the middle of our meal an upset unhoused person briefly interrupted the meals of all the diners in our parklet and left after a few tense minutes. Service by Desiree R was excellent. Rode UberX home. To bed early, resulting in biphasic sleep. Woke around midnight, then remained awake for about 90 minutes. Patrick also arose for a short time.
