Ran in place to various YouTube videos. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk and raspberries; water to drink. Met with Phillip B and Angelie K and Eric and Anne about the faculty academic affairs web page and the proposal to migrate some of its content. Met with Eric and Anne to talk about that and also about Calpoison issues. Created a summary of the FAA proposal, sent it to Eric and Anne for review. Lunch at home: leftovers from last night's dinner, cup of leftover carrot soup, water. Various followup. HTML email template work: town hall. UCSF town hall. Dinner at home with Patrick: various kinds of dumplings from frozen, water. Patrick also had a glass of beer. Patrick washed dishes. We watched Daredevil s2:e10 on Netflix instant watch. Patrick went to bed. I resolved a problem with a Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Express Dock in which after upgrading from macOS Catalina 10.15.7 to Monterey 12.2.1 the dock's ethernet port stopped working. Everything else in the dock seemed to work. Eric D pointed me to a Belkin support document that looked like it could help. The instructions did not match, but I followed them anyway, and to my surprise they worked. How to fix: disconnect the Mac from the dock, shut down the Mac, disconnect all device cables from the dock, unplug the power from the dock, plug in all the device cables, connect the Mac to the dock, plug in power for the dock, start the Mac. Ignore the references to the USB 10/100/1000 interface. It will still work. I reconfigured one backup system to use ethernet instead of wifi. Prepped for a new hardware purchase in order to instigate a trickle-down: gathered storage use and display resolutions data, read the Mac Buyer's Guide, thought about potential scenarios. Deleted some apps no longer needed on Patrick's computer: Pages, Numbers, Xcode. Late snack: unsalted cashews, one navel orange.
