Ran in place to Apple News Today and Fifth and Mission podcasts via Apple TV then The History of Swear Words s1:e1 then The Boys in the Band: Something Personal on Netflix instant watch. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, cinnamon, sliced banana; water. Sprint standup. Answered a question about how to order stationery for Lisa D. 1:1 with Eric. Followup with Izzy R about bulk email options. Followup with Jennifer E about automatically updating pubs on lab sites in D8. Followup with Mandy M about needing to make changes to the Residencies site. RSS to email work in Sendinblue. Rode UberX to my first dentist appointment in 18 months—all is well. Bought bread and pastries at Arizmendi. Rode UberX home. Dinner at home with Patrick: delivery from Squat and Gobble: crispy chicken sandwich for Patrick, crabcake sandwich for me. Patrick had ordered a side of fries in one and a side of cole slaw in the other but we mistakenly got fries in both and did not complain about it. Each dish included a large pickle slice of which only I had a few bites. The crispy chicken sandwich turned out to be too spicy for me. We had planned to share both sandwiches but abandoned this plan upon this discovery. Dessert: one Arizmendi ricciarelli each. Afterwards we watched part of Rick Steves Egypt: Yesterday and Today on YouTube. Patrick went to bed. I joined shortly afterwards and slept until around 11 pm then arose. Read from dead tree editions of books and magazines. Did some weight training: dumbbell curl. Returned to bed around 2 am. Lately I have been experimenting (again) with biphasic sleep and with avoiding luminous screens late at night to try to improve sleep. Late meal: peas and corn off the cob, both from frozen; water.

Apple TV has been failing to properly load podcasts, so I'm done with it. Ran in place to Apple News Today and Fifth and Mission podcasts via Apple Podcasts on my iPhone 12 mini then to various YouTube videos. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, cinnamon, sliced banana; water. Missed sprint standup. RSS to email followup all day: Sendinblue. Midmorning snack: we shared half of a mint chocolate chip cookie. Lunch at home by myself: veggie burger on Arizmendi baguette piece with spinach, cheddar, mayo, bbq sauce; french fries with ketchup; water. Dinner at home with Patrick: TJ's beef lasagne, water. I had a glass of white wine. Dessert: I had a bite of the remaining mint chocolate cookie. Patrick had the rest crumbled in Double Rainbow chocolate ice cream. We finished watching Amazing Grace on Netflix DVD. Patrick went to bed. I registered some of my Peak Design products then troubleshot problems with Untitled Goose Game and Sony Playstation DualSense 5 controllers. Discovered that I can get one controller working when plugged in with USB-C cable. Bluetooth still would not work because of pairing problems: Connected followed immediately by Not Connected. Calendar management. Weight training: tricep kickback, dumbbell shrug.

Podcasts on Apple TV loaded correctly today, so I used it. Ran in place to Apple News Today via Apple TV then to part of Mythic Quest s1:e5 on Apple TV+. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, pumpkin pie spice, sliced banana; water. No standup. Blue Sky comm team meeting. OSACA org chart update for Cindy. Read CSS Layout News 305. Curriculum at a glance update for Cindy. Lunch: leftover lasagne, water. Nap. MJML template work. Dinner at home with Patrick: salami and mushroom cast-iron pizza, water. Glass of white wine for only me. I washed dishes. Afterwards we played for about an hour Untitled Goose Game on my MacBook Pro in Steam but without Steam with Sony Playstation DualSense 5 controllers connected via USB-C cables and with headphones via a cable and a splitter projected to our Roku television mirrored over AirPlay. The game was amusing and harder than we expected. We figured out how to enter the garden. We were able to steal the gardener's keys, if only briefly. We began gathering some of the picnic items. We couldn't figure out how to make the gardener wear the sun hat, so I looked up the answer on the web. Even knowing the answer we still couldn't make it happen. Perhaps we were too impatient? Eventually we got stuck when the garden gate was closed and we couldn't reopen it. We both were outside the gate. Eventually Patrick got back in the garden but I was still stuck outside the gate. Patrick eventually got out again. We aren't certain exactly how he got in or out with the gate closed, but he did. We swam around the waterways. We decided that when we play next we probably need to reset the game and avoid closing the gate. Patrick went to bed. Weight training: front raise. Biphasic sleep.

I washed dishes. Afterwards we watched The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel s1:e3 on Amazon Prime Video. Patrick went to bed after a little while. I installed another pantry turntable then two pan and lid racks in the cookware cabinets. Late small meal: leftover rigatoni with garbanzo beans. Biphasic sleep.

Drinks: venetian spritz for Patrick, glass of colosi salina for Andy, glass of felline primitivo for Chris, maracuya chilcano for me, sparkling water for the table. Met with Anne on Zoom to troubleshoot copy-paste issues from Word into Drupal. Chatted on Zoom with Joel who had questions about buying a new Mac. Dinner with Patrick. We attempted to eat at Lost and Found but there was a long line and it didn't seem like they had any available tables. All the outdoor, parklet tables were full, and the indoor tables did not seem like they were set up for diners. Only one person was behind the counter, and we could tell that it would be a long wait just to speak with someone. Instead we walked to Chalos only to find it closed. We walked back to Parkside Tavern where we dined: manhattan for Patrick, dark dubliner for me. We shared a bowl of seafood chowder, which was accompanied by a dense bread and butter. For entrees, Patrick had cottage pie, I had roast chicken with vegetables (broccoli and string beans) and champ (mashed potatoes with scallions). For dessert we shared a granny smith apple tart with caramel and whipped cream. All the food and drink were delicious and perfectly prepared. The dark dubliner comes in a nine-inch-tall glass. The chowder was rich and perfectly salted. The cottage pie is topped with mashed potatoes bagpiped with a star pastry tip then broiled to aesthetic perfection. The roast chicken was moist on the inside, and crispy golden brown on the outside. $97.98 before a $20 tip. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, pumpkin pie spice, sliced banana; water. Continued prepping the bathroom wall for installation of a two-tier acrylic shelf, including touch-ups of paint. Lunch: leftover mac and cheese and salad from yesterday. The mac and cheese was not spicy, but the salad was a bit because of creole spices. I used ranch that was not included with the delivery order. Water to drink. Uninstalled, sanded, and reinstalled two-tier acrylic shelves in the refrigerator to bevel the sharp corners after discovering that the technique worked on the one to be installed in the bathroom. Set up a SHIELD Android TV that Chris and Nate gave to us recently. The controller has almost no charge, but it does pair, so it seems I need to let it charge overnight. Nap. Rode UberX to the Castro with Patrick. Hi Tops was packed. We ate next door at Santeria, which was full outside but mostly empty inside. Reposado margarita for Patrick, sayulita miracle for me. Food and drink were both delicious, service was good. We shared the carne asada plate and a half order of michoacan carnitas. $81.38 before a $16.28 tip. Dinner at home with Patrick: homemade lasagne previously frozen, mixed greens salad with tomato and cucumber and ranch dressing, bread from Bursa, water. I washed dishes. Afterwards we continued watching Stargate (1994) on Netflix instant watch. Patrick went to bed. I finished playing Discolored for iOS on my 2020 iPad Air via Apple Arcade. I played the game the whole way through, but I didn't particularly enjoy it. The controls were difficult to use and panning was often jerky, making navigation a bit unpleasant. The inventory interface was more complicated than it needed to be, and even after completing the game I never felt I understood exactly how parts of it worked like when the viewer worked. The puzzle logic itself was puzzling, for example, how to make a particular item grow or why an expected symbol (leaf) was missing on a communications device or why certain symbols appeared where they did or why a particular object changed. If it had a story behind it, it was never explained. It didn't even particularly use color in an interesting or challenging way. (For example, the flower room in The Witness.) The game quit unexpectedly at different times, usually at important transitions, making it unclear whether the game simply ended and quit or not. When you see credits roll, you're at the end. What good can be said? It is a decent puzzle game set in a 1950s-esque diner that will occupy a few hours. Not awful, but not great.
Mon Jun 28, 2021

Dinner at home with Patrick: leftover red beans and rice, bread, corn on the cob, water. Afterwards we watched M.O.D.O.K. s1:e1 on Netflix instant watch then The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel s1:e5 on Amazon Prime Video. Sort of had biphasic sleep tonight; I woke and took melatonin but did not stay up long since Patrick woke right after me and I didn't want to disturb him.

Ran in place to Apple News Today and Fifth and Mission podcasts via Apple TV then to Bill Vicars on YouTube. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, cinnamon, blueberries; water. Sprint standup. Followup with Campaign Monitor about meeting about pricing. Styling work to improve people tables with class image-columns-3 to look better on some mobile devices, particularly below 400px wide. Walked and rode Muni to a doctor appointment. Lunch at Mangrove Kitchen (415-552-6881, 312 Divisadero Street): chicken ramen with yellow curry broth, add spinach; thai iced tea: $25.50 before a $5.10 tip. The yellow curry broth for their ramen is new and interesting to me. It also included a small bundle of crispy noodles and a whole soft-boiled (seasoned?) egg and pickled vegetables. Walked to Peak Design Flagship Store in Hayes Valley. My five-liter sling bag had a problem with the zipper pull splitting. They don't do repairs, so they let me exchange the bag for a new one. They no longer made the five-liter bag, so they let me choose between the six-liter and the three-liter. I chose the three-liter because I needed smaller more than I needed larger. Walked to the bank to get a roll of quarters. Due to a coin shortage they wouldn't let me have more than one roll. Rode Muni L bus home, which was problematic because there was no sign at the tunnel entrance that I should wait for the L bus aboveground instead of an L train in the tunnel. I must have wasted seven minutes walking around belowground before realizing it. Then on Market Street I must have waited 20 minutes after watching three 9 busses, two 7 busses, and two F trains pass. Home. Read CSS Layout News 309. Sent a farewell message to Cindy; she is retiring, and tomorrow is her last day. Dinner at home with Patrick: pork chops with broccoli parmesan ciabatta, water. Patrick also had a can of tepache to drink. I had water. Cocktail for me only: pineapple mezcal margarita. Patrick had a chocolate chip cookie with milk. Afterwards we watched zoo and other videos on YouTube. Patrick went to bed. I washed dishes.

Ran in place to multiple Apple News Today podcast episodes via Apple TV then to various YouTube videos. Medium bowl of oatmeal with milk, nutmeg, peach; water. Sprint standup. Met with Campaign Monitor and other UCSF people to discuss pricing. MJML work: rebuild whitecoat invitation. Followup with edits for Levi. Began editing the telework draft. Dinner at home with Patrick: delivery from Calibur via Uber Eats: Patrick had a double burger with swiss, bacon, lettuce, pickles, calibur sauce. I had a single burger with cheddar, pickles, lettuce, tomato, calibur sauce. We got two-for-one chocolate shakes. Afterwards I washed the few dishes and we watched Loki s1:e4 on Disney+. Patrick went to bed. First sleep. Woke around 1:30 a.m. Wrapped a package: headphones for repair. Second sleep.
