Breakfast at home: leftover black beans with leftover chicken tikka masala and leftover rice, one pint of hot water. Walked and rode Muni to UCSF Laurel Heights. Sprint standup. Snack: banana chips, one Peruvian murcott. Walked and rode Muni to SoMa. Met Patrick for dinner. We decided on Pizzeria Delfina where we shared a tuna conserva (salad) and, on special, a squash blossoms pizza. Patrick had a happy hour beer; I had a happy hour red wine. Food and drink were delicious, service was good. Afterwards we visited SFMOMA. We weren't that interested in Warhol, which has an exhibition now thru September 2, but we did particularly enjoy JR: The Chronicles of San Francisco and Far Out: Suits, Habs, and Labs for Outer Space. JR was quite impressive—an animated, collaged, diorama on a huge scale inspired by Diego Rivera's murals. Attempted to ride Muni home, but just as we arrived we heard the tail end of an announcement. A fellow rider explained that Muni was not permitting outbound trains on the outbound track but that they would board outbound passengers on the inbound side and then switch the train to the outbound track along the way. The current wait was 20 minutes for an L train. We immediately returned upstairs. I obtained a refund at the ticket booth after waiting in line for about two minutes. Above ground we walked a little off Market Street. I began to order an Uber but its intructions seemed to indicate that we would need to walk even more, so I switched to Lyft. The Lyft estimate was seven minutes, and I ordered, but we waited at least twice that long, probably due to traffic, but the other weird thing was that the app said the driver had arrived for over five minutes before he actually arrived. The rest of the ride was fine.
