New Orleans Southern Decadence 2018 vacation, day 6 of 8. We wake to mostly clear skies. Breakfast with Patrick at The Palace Cafe. We each had hot coffee and shared a yogurt parfait and eggs benedict. Our tour reservations at the Historic New Orleans Collection (HNOC) get rescheduled to the afternoon because of storm warnings. We walked to and visited Louis Armstrong Park. Next we walked to and toured the Cabildo and Presbytere museums. We particularly enjoyed the Katrina and Mardi Gras exhibits. Light lunch and Cuban cocktails at Manolito: papa doble for Patrick, jazz daiquiri for me, and we shared the black bean soup, the cheese arepas, and the croquettas. At the HNOC Malinda Blevins gave us a fascinating tour of the Williams residence. We returned to The Old No. 77 and also bought bottled waters at a corner store. Nap. Drinks and a small bite at Arnaud’s 75: we each had two of their signature French 75s, as well as an el guapo fashioned for Patrick and a lani makai for me, boudin wontons to share. We visited The Jazz Playhouse at the Royal Sonesta where we saw Michael Watson with Alchemy perform Bye Bye Blackbird, The Beginning, Born Again, and more. We ate BBQ pork and red bean nachos and chicken and waffles with our drinks: 2 jelly roll mortons for Patrick, stevie wonder and hurricane for me. Walked back to The Old No. 77.
