Breakfast at home: oatmeal with diced pear, cinnamon, unsweetened soy milk. Bought gas in Daly City. Took a wrong exit along the way. Drove with iPhone 6 Plus nav via Waze to 2025 Stierlin Court in Mountain View for the 2nd Accessibility Camp Bay Area. (To clarify: this is my first attendance at an Accessibility Camp Bay Area.) Many blind people are in attendance. This is the first time I witnessed live speech-to-text translation (captioning) displayed on a large screen for the audience. My four sessions: (1) Inclusive Usability in Neon Carrot with Jayne Schurick, (2) The 80/20 rule: Finding and fixing the Top 10 Accessibility Errors in Unite with Karl Groves, (3) Beyond Large Fonts: A Partially Sighted User's Perspective in Culture Club with Karo Caran, and (4) Getting Our Design Team To Walk The Walk in Neon Carrot with Judith Blankman. The day's sessions were bookended by a welcome address and closing remarks by the event's organizer Jennison Asuncion. Following Groves' session I realized that I lost that session's notes due to Evernote not synching the data correctly, which makes me unhappy. And which is ironic because I'm writing this day's journal notes in Evernote. Drove home, getting an automated car wash at the Valero on 495 Moffett. It's later now and I have switched to writing this day's journal notes in TextWrangler on my iMac at home. Today's events made me realize that Apple Notes, Notational Velocity / Simplenote, and Evernote have all eaten my data. Despite this fact, I still prefer Notational Velocity / Simplenote the most, but I also still don't fully trust any of them. Late snack: toasted raisin bagel and cream cheese. Will and Tom move to Los Angeles.
