Pre-breakfast: granola with milk. Rode Muni to Palace Hotel. Registered, received a pretty cool lunch box for free. It contained a large piece of milk chocolate with the An Event Apart wreath logo made by The Chocolate Fetish in Asheville, North Carolina; a red mechanical pencil logoed with "fonts.com;" a cocktail napkin with an ad and discount offer from fonts.com; and a sporknife from vitamintalent.com made by Light My Fire. Breakfast: scrambled eggs, grilled potatoes, fresh fruit, coffee. Met Michelle from Automatic (a WordPress shop). An Event Apart day 1 of 2. Buffet lunch provided by the event. I had caesar salad, fresh fruit, shrimp scampi, and gemelli with broccoli rabe. Met Chudo from Lithium in Emeryville and Marek, neighbor of Eric D in Oakland. Desserts: tiramisu, cannoli. Snack: a banana. I briefly talked to sponsor and talent-matcher Vitamin T and received a free poster of A Brief History of Web Standards. (You can see a digital version on the web—search for it.) Apple Store. Home. Began setting up the vacuum dome. Dinner at home with Patrick: homemade vegetable soup, water, for me a biscuit. Archived documents. Wrote summaries of today's sessions.
