Interview prep. Laptop setup for student MB. Video transcoding (law review). Helped student HB with WebCT. Pre-lunch: leftovers. Interview. Post-lunch: leftovers. Laptop setup for student MB. Video transcoding (law review). Chatted briefly with Shane S about the out list and Google Maps mashups. Remove and reinstall Sygate for Carol. Install remote scanning for Alyssa. CDROM project followup with instructors. Figured out how to clear the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) password on an IBM/Lenovo T43 2668-C6U, thanks to milkster of Toronto, Canada who posted the following answer (which I have slightly revised) on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 6:05 PM:
- Shut down the ThinkPad laptop.
- Turn on the ThinkPad laptop, then immediately press the Esc key once every 2 seconds until you see white text scroll on a black background indicating that drivers are loading.
- Hold down the power button for about 4 seconds to turn off the ThinkPad laptop. Note: The machine must shut off before Windows starts. If you let Windows start and continue below, you will not get the option to clear the TPM!
- Turn on the ThinkPad laptop, and press the F1 key once every 2 seconds until you see a message saying that you're entering the BIOS.
- One of the sections will deal with security settings—select it.
- In this section, there should now be an option that will let you clear the embedded security chip. If you don't see it, return to step 1.
- Save and exit the BIOS. The computer should start normally.
Dinner at home with Patrick: pasta with green beans in marinara. Watched Heroes Volume 1 Episode 2 on nbc.com. Embedded a YouTube video in my June 2 entry but it doesn't show up in Sage and I don't know why not yet.
