Slept in. Rode UberX to City Park for beignets and coffee at Morning Call. Patrick had a coffee and chicory cafe au lait, I had an iced coffee. Explored the New Orleans Museum of Art Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden which was terrific. Free to enter (donations accepted), beautiful and well-designed garden with mostly excellent pieces. Perhaps the best sculpture garden I have ever encountered. Afterwards we rode UberX to Lamothe House, then strolled to Verdi Mart to pick up a shrimp po-boy to split with San Pellegrino beverages, eating in our room because the poolside tables were all taken. Nap for me. Patrick graded papers. Dinner at Patois in Uptown. Arrived early and strolled in the neighborhood. Sparkling water for both. To start: a cross between a biscuit and roll, perfectly warm, with butter. Patrick: cote du rhone; roast thai shrimp; malbec; paneed Mississippi rabbit cacciatore with polenta. Frank: strawberry salad; special: chicken two ways (confit, rolled). Dessert: deconstructed black forest cake, french press coffee. Rode UberX to Lamothe House, changed to cooler clothing. Walked to Preservation Hall, stopping at Rouse's to get non-alcoholic drinks along the way. Walked up Bourbon Street to Lafitte's in Exile for a drink. Walked to Lamothe House.
