Rode Lyft to the Mission, met Danny at Dolores Park for sunbathing. I ate a very messy breakfast sandwich and a vegan chocolate donut from Dolores Park Cafe. Archived fraud paperwork. Lunch at Panera Bread City Center, which had good food but I nonetheless had a terrible experience. The restaurant is very difficult to find. Better signage could help, but nothing will change the poor foot navigation of City Center except for tearing it down completely. I went up two flights of stairs, down one flight, asked directions at Best Buy, down another flight, around a corner, and then I found it. Flies and very aggressive pigeons swarmed the outdoor patio looking out onto a parking lot and made only marginally more pleasant by added container greenery. The complexity of ordering via iPad and they forgot to add the field greens I had added but I was too tired to complain about it. Why did they give me half of a large baguette with a soup and a sandwich? Inside the restaurant the air conditioning was set to "freezing." Never again. The bread is delicious, though. I had a steak sandwich with white cheddar on ciabatta with a cup of chicken and wild rice soup. Iced tea. $13.89. I ate with one arm held high to bat away the many birds landing on my table—so bold! Chatted with Eric about an issue I reported: old Google Maps links shortened with Google URL Shortener fail, but only on mobile. Unpublished a person page for Katherine K, then documented the process. Followup with video permissions for Frances P. Began choosing Drupalcon sessions. Watched Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day (2008) on Netflix instant watch with Patrick—loved it. I don't recall hearing about this film when it was released, and I felt that at 7.1 on IMDB it is underrated. Late snack: an apple.

Sun Apr 24, 2016

Breakfast: one green apple. House chores. Cut my hair, showered. Recharge Spa work for Drew: jobs. Caught up on journaling. Rode Muni L to Soma. Brunch at El Capitan (1123 Folsom Street) with Danny, Romy, Drew, Phil, and Paul. We shared two carafes of sangria, the house ceviche, two dozen $1 oysters, chicharrons, plantain chips. Entrees: pulled pork sliders for Phil, chilaquiles for Paul, cow burger medium with cheddar and fries for me, elote and chicken wings for Romy, cow burger medium with gouda and fries for Drew, only oysters for Danny. Everyone liked everything except I was the only one who like the ceviche. The others thought it wasn't fresh, but I thought it was fine. Everyone agreed the oysters seemed really fresh. We encountered several problems with the music. When first turned on its extreme loudness prevented us from having a conversation, and there were no other patrons in the restaurant. We asked several times for it to be turned down. Then, later, we realized that the same track was on repeat; we must have been listening to the same song for 20 or 30 minutes. Eventually the volume and repeat problems were resolved. The entrees did not come out all at once, and their timing seemed obviously poor when everyone was eating but Paul was still waiting for over 5 minutes for his chilaquiles. Neither Drew's nor my burger was medium as ordered—they were both cooked a few minutes too long and turned out medium well. Afterwards we visited Flora Grubb Gardens, a very small cafe serving terrible coffee and tasty desserts amidst fine gardens and that just happens to sell most everything you see. Afterwards we drove down the crooked part of Vermont Street because most everyone had not yet experienced it. Back to their place for a nap. Rode Lyft Line home. Dinner at home with Patrick: Blue Apron korean bao sliders with gochujang mayo and sweet potato tempura. Watched Archer s6:e10 (Reignition Sequence) on Netflix instant watch with Patrick. I thought this was one of the funniest episodes in a long time.

Mon Apr 25, 2016

Woke with a sore throat. Took a sick day and stayed home to drink lemon-ginger green tea and rest. Watched Tangerine (2015) on Netflix instant watch. I liked it a lot. The story is both simple and twisty, and a subplot went deeper than I had expected. The performances were quite fine. There's unarguably adult material here, and if you're fine with that I recommend it. Wait until the end of the credits for perhaps the biggest shock of the film. Lunch: chicken noodle soup, lemon-ginger green tea. Nap. Dinner at home with Patrick: leftovers. Late snack: tater tots with ketchup, crispy vegetable snacks from the farmer's market.

Tue Apr 26, 2016

Sick day, sore throat. Breakfast: one-egg and scallion omelette sprinkled with green sauce from indian food leftovers, side of hash browns, 6 ounces of carrot juice, 6 ounces of orange juice. Rested. Rode Muni to UCSF Parnassus. UCSF shuttle from Parnassus to Laurel Heights. Breakfast from The View Cafe: egg and cheddar on english muffin, small coffee in my Seattle Public Library mug. Sprint standup. Lots of calendar management and vacation notification. Updated the Incapsula info page in the SOP IT wiki. Followup with pcard fraud issues. It got sorted out; we will not try to livestream this year but maybe next year. Sent Lisa instructions on how to join Chatter. Published Substantial Evidence changes for Jamie. Listserv management for one of our student leadership groups. Eric and I walked through a hack to add a news listing thumbnail image for a news story without also having that image appear in the top right corner of the node page. In this hack you choose a regular crop cropped as you like in addition to choosing a square crop cropped to the smallest white area you can, then after finding the inserted image code, wrap it with a div with class clearfix. This provides a bit of extra whitespace at the top of the article, but basically no one is going to notice anything is amiss. Lunch from The View Cafe: sushi from the refrigerator. Met with Paula and Susie about UFD. Edited 8 pages of the 10-page UFD. Chatted with Eric about caching issues; Varnish seems to occasionally annoy me because I have to wait for it to clear a page before I can report to the task generator that my task is complete. Chatted briefly with David about the student awards dinner and commencement stories and photography. Helped Michelle remove photos from the camera memory card so that she can download them from my Box account. Rode Lyft Line to the Sunset district. Dinner at Sunset Reservoir Brewing Company (SRBC) with Patrick: we shared everything: beer flight, half caesar salad, chipotle bbq pizza, fried chicken with mashed potatoes and cole slaw. For dessert, chocolate stout two-layer cake with Bailey's cream cheese frosting. All food and drink was delicious, in particular the fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy were perfect. The pizza gets a little soggy in the center; I prefer it crisper. But it's still a very good pizza. Service by Patricia N was mostly very good. (At the end she disappeared upstairs for a long time while we were waiting to pick up our payment.) $63.11 before an $11 tip. Walked home.

Leslie gave Lucia and me rides home.

Sat Apr 30, 2016
