Breakfast: kale salad, grapes, water. Patrick and I drove and checked in to Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley at East Palo Alto. Midafternoon meal poolside on the roof: we split a chicken cobb salad ($22) and a summer roll ($15). Patrick had a sangria ($15). I had a ginger berry mule ($15). $12 service charge automatically included. $7 tax. About $86 total; a very pricey lunch. Food took a little longer than expected to arrive; the server had warned us in advance but considering the price of this hotel I was disappointed. After the food arrived, and after our deliverator had left, we noticed that the salad dressing was missing, and it was frustratingly difficult to get the attention of any service staff for about six minutes. The food was good—what we had expected, not outstanding. However, the shrimp summer rolls were accompanied by two dipping sauces, both with deliciously complex flavors. Wedding ceremony and reception for Quyen and Dave at INDO Restaurant and Lounge in Palo Alto. We had a great time. The food was excellent and the wait staff treated us very well. For some strange reason there were many spills and dropped glasses tonight. I had intended to bring my camera but forgot it in the hotel room. I realized from this and previous experiences I enjoy weddings more when I don't bring my camera, otherwise I'm preoccupied with getting good shots rather than relaxing and enjoying the moment.
