Food was good, but I didn't think it stood out from other thai restaurants. Service was below average: Danny had ordered a fish dish before all the other orders were taken, and after all our orders had arrived we were still waiting for it; they had forgotten to include it. Also, a server or deliverator gave me the wrong dish, and I didn't realize the error until after I had had several bites of Romy's dish. Decor is very modern, pleasing.

Sat May 10, 2014

Spent over an hour with Goo Gone removing residue still stuck to my skin from medical stickers from my procedure last week. Made breakfast: oatmeal with fresh, sliced strawberries; "dried north almond"; a few drops of vanilla; and 2% milk. I began eating then immediately did a Google search on dried north almond—my foodie habit of learning about what I eat when I eat it. I stopped after two bites, contemplated my options, read some more, then threw the whole bowl out. The "dried north almonds" I had were Chinese, packaged by "K. L. Y. Trading Co., Inc." in San Francisco, CA, 94124, U. S. A. A Canadian government web page told me that these were likely apricot kernels mislabeled as north almonds. Travel planning all day with quantum13. Late lunch: Joe's O's, hot water. More travel planning. Dinner at home with Patrick: Patrick made a seitan and vegetable stir fry in oyster sauce with sesame seeds. More travel planning. Watched Interior. Leather Bar. (2013) on Netflix DVD with Patrick. The film is not particularly brilliant, but it interestingly opens exploratory questions about filmmaking and social norms involving sexuality in a way that is both crafty and potentially crafty. It deserves higher than the 5.5 it currently has on imdb. I would give it a 6.8.

There are too many tables in the middle of the space making it very difficult or impossible for people to move in and out of the space. Afterwards we shopped for clothing but did not buy anything. Successfully re-enrolled in pwmanage and successfully changed my Active Directory password. Scanning and Photoshop help for Susan H. Resolved a problem in which after upgrading to OS 10.9 Mavericks I received the following CodeKit error while saving a .scss file: "Compass was unable to compile one or more files in the project: Encoding::CompatibilityError on line ["28"] of /Applications /CodeKit.app /Contents /Resources /engines /scss /lib /sass /tree /visitors /to_css.rb: incompatible character encodings: UTF-8 and ASCII-8BIT—Run with --trace to see the full backtrace—(This action was triggered by a change to _styles.scss)." OS X was version 10.9.3. CodeKit was version 1.9.3 (8403). ruby --version == ruby 2.0.0p451 (2014-02-24 revision 45167) [universal.x86_64-darwin13]. I resolved this by finding the config.rb that was at the root of my project folder, editing it to include 'encoding = "utf-8"' (without the single quotation marks) on the first line, then quitting and restarting CodeKit. The page at http://stackoverflow.com /questions /13987010 had the answer that worked for me from rauberdaniel. Before getting this solution to work I had read http://github.com /bdkjones /codekit2 /issues /11 and http://stackoverflow.com /questions /19572817 and http://www.amyhaywood.com /problems-codekit-upgrading-mavericks and tried 'sudo gem update --system' followed by 'sudo gem install compass' followed by 'xcode-select --install' and none of that had worked for me. It took me several hours to figure this out. (I had found rauberdaniel's answer last week and tried it but it did not work for me then, so maybe the solution required one or more of the commands I tried today.) Late lunch at the JCC: veggie burrito with cheese, water. Filed pcard paperwork. Styling work in Drupal: small fixes. UCSF shuttle from Laurel Heights to Parnassus. Rode Muni home. Dinner at home with Patrick. Patrick purchased groceries from Good Eggs for the first time, and he found it a really nice experience with reasonable prices. Rode UberX to SFO. At the airport I enjoyed the SFO Museum exhibit called San Francisco from the David Rumsey Map Collection. When boarding the plane I found myself very coincidentally sitting next to Richard B, an ITS employee with whom Eric and John and I work closely. I met his girlfriend Alexia, with whom I later learned I had previously exchanged emails because she works in University Relations. And then, I also unexpectedly encountered Conrad C on the same flight, but he didn't see me, and we talked briefly just after alighting. Baggage claim. Richie, Alexia, and I arranged to share a cab, thinking that we were all going to the same place, but shortly after the driver left the curb we realized that Richie had booked the wrong Omni Hotel. The cab driver dropped them at the wrong hotel for them to sort it out. I continued in the cab and checked in to Omni Downtown. No room issues. Dinner at Uncle Julio's with Conrad and a bunch of his Pantheon coworkers: Sophie J, Riyanka, Ryan, Linda W, Josh K. Barhopping with Conrad: Oilcan Harry's, listened a bit at Cedar Street (hip hop), Rain on 4th, Castro's, Handlebar. At Handlebar Conrad and I rode a seesaw and kiddie-playground horses. We met strangers Madeleine and John, both from New Jersey, now living in Austin and Boston. Great live and DJ-mixed music seemingly everywhere. Late meal from KaBaBeQue: salad bowl with chicken shawarma, about $8, delicious. Back to the hotel.
