Lunch from The View Cafe: chicken with green beans over brown rice with an egg roll, water from my Contigo water bottle. Encountered John K, we ate outside in the courtyard, with Eric joining. Glass of 2012 Antoine Sanzay Cabernet Franc, Saumur Champigny, France for Patrick; cava (huckleberry) cocktail for me; applewood smoked bacon beignets with maple chive creme fraiche for Patrick; roasted turnip empanadas with sultana raisins and salsa verde for me; squid ink linguine with green garlic, cortez bottarga, meyer lemon, and espelette chile for Patrick; kale salad with roasted baby carrot, sesame, mission olive, mint, and ricotta stagionata for me; grilled bavette steak with fino sherry and roasted spring onion jus, maitake, and gruyere for Patrick; sonoma duck breast with pumpkin seed dukkah, japanese sweet potato, and blood orange for me. For dessert, chocolate plaisir sucre with hazelnut dacquoise, cocoa crumble, and burnt caramel for Patrick; toasted poppy seed genoise with mandarin curd, citrus caramel, pistachio brittle, and kumquat for me.
