Breakfast at home: oatmeal with diced sweetie apple, cinnamon, unsweetened soy milk. Rode Muni to work. Linkchecking, kiosk work. ICRD work for a student. Followup with accounting about a supp app applicant payment. Followup with a student about an email address change. Followup on RK's mailbox request. Reviewed the Ogilvy social media recommendations for The Kidney Project. Read the new UC brand guidelines website. They are reminiscent of the UCSF branding with which I am familiar, but the website presentation is so much slicker, and the branding is even better than UCSF's at the moment. Began editing the new update from the dean for Paula and Susie. 1-on-1 conf call with Michael W. Followup on conf call discussion items. Calendar management. Followup with Salesforce team on accounts creation. Followup with Susie on The Archive. Applied for a WebDAM account with UCOP. Lunch to go from the cafeteria: pinto bean mexican salad. More editing. Posted a notice warning students to not upgrade to Windows 8 until the university has had time to test compatibility with systems. Microsites and redirects vconf call with Eric D, John K, and Greg H. QA and workflow vconf call with Paula, Susie, Eric D, Michael W. Snack: a banana. CLS/EDS followup with Andrei M and others. Followup with a student's email address change. Listserv management. More editing, sent the update to Paula for review. Someone recommended Foyle's War to me today; I think it was Susie. Rode Muni to the Mission. Walked to Southern Pacific Brewery. No indoor empty tables, and no one was leaving because the first World Series game was playing on large-screen televisions throughout the restaurant-bar. Phil, Drew, and Romy showed up and after a few minutes realized what I already knew—we could not eat there. We walked to flour+water and ate there: I had tagliarini, Phil and Romy shared a pizza, Drew had (I think) a pasta dish, and we shared a cold kale salad. Lambrusco. Drew was impressed that they used the proper glasses to serve the lambrusco. No dessert. About $40 each. Walked to PDDR's. Assorted desserts. I requested and received a small glass of Firelit (batch #1). Rode Muni to the Castro. Found Andy and Emery on Find My Friends at Wasabi Bistro with Scott, Ray, and Tim C. Wasabi Bistro had opened only a few weeks ago. The guys say the sushi is really good and the staff is friendly and has been treating them really well. They had just finished dinner but needed to pay. I joined. We're all excited about the cruise and shared last-minute tips and plans. I met some of the staff: Vincent, Mario, and (I think) Sharon. After a while other friends of Andy walked in for dinner: Alvin (who works for some game company of which I missed the name), Matthew (who works at Apple). Rode Muni home.
