Breakfast at home: organic oatmeal with blueberries; cinnamon; "mostly marin" wildflower honey; organic, unsweetened soy milk; 8 ounces of orange juice. Took the car back to the auto shop. Rode my bike from the auto shop to work. Flickr work, kiosk work. Began linkchecking but abandoned due to other priorities. Coded a new html email for Susie and Sue. Lisa's computer was recently swapped with the one James F had been using so that Tran could resolve a problem with it. She had previously been using Windows XP and James's computer had Windows 7, so I found out today that the Brother MFC-5440CN all-in-one does not have drivers for Windows 7. Tran had reported this a business day or two ago and suggested that we get a new printer. I examined the situation and installed drivers for a more recent device that looks like the MFC-5440CN. I could get it partway working but not completely working and asked Tran to look at it. After he spent some time on it, the scanning works but the printing still doesn't. This is sufficient since Lisa never used it for printing—she has two other printers available to her. Wrote a thank you card for Mary Anne. Visited Sue to install the html email file on her computer. Today I learned that her computer still has Office 2007 and was never upgraded to Office 2010. Also it has only 2 GB of RAM and the intake vents are thick with dust. I installed the file but it still wouldn't work: I would choose "New email message using..." and nothing happens. Turns out Outlook thinks Themes are not installed, but when I look in the setup, Themes are installed. I successfully repaired Office 2007 and restarted the computer but there was no change to the problem. Sue insisted she would never get a new computer, didn't want Office 2010, she knows where things are in the computer now, upgrades means you have to find things over again, very resistant to change. Very frustrating. As a workaround we looked at other computers in the office, but they all have Office 2007 and were set up the same way: no Office themes. I asked her to report the problem to Tran and ask him to fix it. Very late lunch at the cafeteria: veggie burger, fries, water from my klean kanteen. ICRD work for Rodney (APeX). Calendar management. Management activities. Filed pcard paperwork. Replaced a schedule for Lucia. Small web edits to the faculty page for Nancy Jane and Susie. Supp app project work in Drupal: IB test score work. Listserv management. Linkchecking. Rode my bike from work to the auto shop. I was told that my car was fixed, so I folded my bike and loaded it in the trunk. When I drove less than a block, I noticed that the problem was not fixed. I returned to the auto shop and left the car again. Very frustrating. Rode my bike home. Beverage: 8 ounces of orange juice. Late dinner at home with Patrick: tofu and vegetables stir-fry over leftover rice. Watched part of La Vie en Rose on Netflix DVD. My MacBook Air (a non-work purchase) arrived yesterday. I brought it home today, but I haven't unboxed it yet. Installed Twittelator Neue for Twitter Free Version by Big Stone Phone. Late meal: quinoa shells and cheese from a packet.
