Today I met Gail and Eric at the Union Street Fair. I also worked on Marcia's website setting up logins and passwords in a MySQL table and building the PHP interface.

I dreamt this morning that Patrick and I were at Disneyland. We were standing on the platform at the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad rollercoaster ride. When the train showed up, it was one of those small miniature trains instead of the big train. People were already on board and they didn't get off, so we found seats and sat down. I said, "I've never ridden this ride sideways before!" because the benches in our part of the train were all sideways like in a miniature train. I looked at Patrick and said, "Welcome to the Magic Kingdom, baby! It's your first ride at Disneyland! Here we go!" Inside the caverns of the ride, I noticed it was entirely redone. There were no tracks; the train ran on bobsled-like runs of sanded hardwood. The wood was very orange and very new. The chambers were also very cramped and claustrophobic. I could see where the wood was wearing down at the turns. We had no seatbelts, and I was worried about ride safety. My dream didn't have an ending that I remember. That's all I recall. Today we met Aaron and Jamie near Lloyd Lake at Golden Gate Park for a picnic. We met Berund, a writer from Belgium, Alina, Tina, Evan, and Andy. Georgie, Nicole, Tom, all whom we already knew, also attended. Evan was our grillmaster for the day cooking us yummy BBQ chicken, and we smirked when we saw him pouring Sunny Delight to cool the coals after all the cooking was done.

Patrick and I drive to South Lake Tahoe. Marcia generously grants us reign over her beautiful house in the Keys. We meet her neighbor, Jim. We get groceries from Albertsons and Patrick makes grilled steak, baked potatoes, and steamed broccoli for dinner. We watch the VHS tape of the final episode of Star Trek: Voyager before bed.

I chat on the phone with Marcia's friend, Ralph. Patrick and I drive to Fallen Leaf Lake and find the waterfall Marcia told us about. We hike up to Lily Lake and back. We drive past the Renaissance Fair to Inspiration Point and see (from a distance) Vikingsholm Castle and the teahouse. This drive to Inspiration Point was particularly beautiful because part of the road was built along the very top of one ridge and we could see the blue, blue waters of Lake Tahoe almost directly below dizzying drops to the left and right of the car. Upon seeing two darkish-skinned boys selling jewelry masking-taped to large cloths at the Point, I first realize that there aren't very many non-white people here. On the way back, we stop for ice cream at Camp Richardson. We drive over to Stateline and check out Caesar's Palace and Harrah's just over the California-Nevada border. We dine at the Forest Buffet at Harrah's.

I spent most of the morning half-sleeping. Patrick makes pork chops for lunch. On the drive back, we stop at an Eppie's Restaurant somewhere in Sacramento for dinner.

Patrick and I watch The Perfect Storm on DVD. We both found it laughably overdramatic ("There are no goodbyes. Only love.") with an annoying score in which we heard the same 6 notes over and over and over again.

Tina and Daniel come over for the day and evening. We go to The Butler and The Chef Café for lunch. We make an ad for selling Luna, then get groceries at Andronico's. Dinner is a feast: mixed greens with no-vinegar raspberry vinaigrette, toast, and (I'm asking Daniel what he calls the name of his dish). For dessert: peaches in puff pastry, Ben & Jerry's Pistachio Pistachio, and Jasmine Peach sorbet from Out of a Flower, Inc. We watch Blazing Saddles on DVD, but it's not as funny as I remember it being a long time ago.

I worked for Marcia today at her house: we finally get her DSL connection set up. Patrick and I both get good news: Patrick hears from an agent at Curtis Brown LTD who is interested in representing him, and I am invited for a second interview by Cindy at UCSF. Patrick makes verbena iced tea from verbena leaves that Tina and Daniel brought. Hamburgers for dinner. Stopped by Brian and Kelly's place to chat. Stepped into Detour briefly to see who was in town for Pride weekend. Watched the first half of Blade Runner: The Director's Cut on DVD.

Destress day for both Patrick and I. He's been having writer's block. I've been stressed out wondering whether I got this UCSF job or not. Lunch at Barney's Gourmet Burgers in the Fillmore. Dinner at Panda Express Stonestown.
